yeah. when i saw this panel suddenly im reminded of this book cover from ages ago. downright Iconic. Oooooooooh ! Do you happen to remember which title it belonged to? As for the page, I'm torn. On the one hand, Ysengrin gets more likable with every panel. On the other hand, I was prepared for a splash page. And now I must wait till Monday. *sigh*

I bet it's Alister's family, "She never saw him again" was not " We never saw him again". It would upset Kat even more if she found out Annie was spending the summer with the boy she had a crush on. I'm already predicting a pretty cold shoulder from Kat at the end of next summer. Yeah, Annie's sudden departure for the forrest, without even a simple note explaining the situation a little, could well feel like a snub to Kat. Though, of course, Annie wasn't in the best state of mind when she made this choice. And there's the lingering guilt she probably feels about copying Kat's school work, too.

Is it just me, or did Ysengrin just... smile? Hard to say. Canines do not have the facial muscles required for complex expressions.

More delicious foreshadowing/forelighting art from Tom. Is it just me, or did Ysengrin just... smile? He did just grin! Gotta say, my respect and love for him has skyrocketed thanks to this chapter. Magnificent character. The old wolf's motivation speeches hit the mark at just the right angle, when he wants to. That's where his real power is, not a silly creaking plant coat. Now we see why he represents the Wood... I'd just like to point out that in the space of a few hours Ysengrin has been a better father to Annie than Reynardine has been in more than a year. I doubt Ysengrin would be a good long-term father figure, but as her temporary custodian or a guide through a crisis he's great.

The site appears to be down right now. Phooie! I hadn't read today's update yet. :<
Cheers on a speedy recovery, Tom! Hope it's nothing bad.

Just a thought, do you think Ysengrin has warmed up to Annie simply because he found out she's not entirely human?

Actually, it's kind of funny.
This chapter is all about a lifetime of secrets coming to the surface for Annie. Yet it's Ys' stealing the show.
[Edit: If I had my guess. We all knew this was coming for Annie at some point. For Ys, this is completely out of left field. At least from the reader perspective.]

Yeah, but the fairies wanted to be killed, so it may have just been that they asked Ysengrin to kill them and he obliged.

Yeah, but the fairies wanted to be killed, so it may have just been that they asked Ysengrin to kill them and he obliged. Not really. He considers them traitors.

Fair point, but I still don't think that him eating the fairies is good evidence that he isn't too nice to non-humans. It doesn't show how he interacts with non-humans who haven't expressed a desire to become what he hates. [Edited to fix formatting]
