ANNIE: Ysengrin, I want you to do something for me...
YSENGRIN: Hmph.
ANNIE: ...Kill them all.

That would make for an interesting plot twist. Annie turns evil and goes on a happy rampage with Ysengrin.

Bah, q3!
I'm definitely thinking that if Annie runs across the bridge without putting up a symbol, she's going to run into Ysengrin before Coyote. It'd be interesting to see his response. Some compassion from the ol' General?

I think there's a reasonable chance that she stops right there and cries on the steps.

I somehow feel that Ysengrin is better candidate for giving hugs to Annie than Coyote. Coyote could say some comforting words, but not to give hug. He is just too Coyote for that. I just hope that Annie doesn't have plan to go visit that ghost.

Also, meanwhile, maybe Reynardine went to find someone (Jones?), so they could reach Annie before she makes a mistake (and Jones would work fine, since she's the true neutral character of the story, the one both Renard and Annie would still trust even as they feel betrayed by the rest of the Court).

Ysengrin certainly wouldn't hurt Annie, and so far we haven't seen anything in the forest that would jump out and kill her (except a shadow-possessed robot, and he's been dealt with). She's safe there for as long as she wants to stay and nobody from the court can touch her.
I don't think she's intentionally running to Coyote, though she's likely to bump into him.

It's possible that she's is just going to hide out here on the steps. It's about as far away from the Court as she can get without triggering the alarms.
EDIT: Or, we know Eglamore will appear in this chapter. Maybe he'll head her off.

What's up with Annie's hair in that second panel. It almost looks like Coyote's eye there. What's the betting that Surma's condition is somehow down to one of Coyote's "gifts". Makes sense with the amount of time she spent in the forest.

The view of the chasm is a very appropriate image here. Nice touch.

Oh.
Hopefully she doesn't go all the way to the forest.
Wait I mean hopefully she does.

Ah! I also wanted to point out that the first panel is wonderful in its execution. Annie's looked a bit mature for a while now, IMO, probably just a result of her poise. In the first panel, she looks like a kid again.
I can't quite place what it is, though I think her eyes are lower on her face than they've been, making her face smaller and more child-like. The angle shortens her neck, too. Probably also helps that her makeup is really subdued. Not sure if you can point to any one thing, but the whole effect really comes together. I like it a lot.

P.S. - Inception?

I just want to point out that the bridge has an alarm on it that sounds whenever students walk on it without permission. That's why Annie couldn't take Shadow 2 across herself, remember?
Tom also said Eglamore would turn up this chapter, and last time Annie set off the alarm, who turned up? Eglamore.
Therefore, Annie's gonna walk onto the bridge, set off the alarm, and summon Eglamore. It's not going to be as easy as her just sprinting across and sobbing into somebody's fur.

I am coming out of lurker-mode to point out a few things. It seems that when upsetting things happen, Annie has been known to go to the Forest. See this, last panel and Tom's comments at the bottom: www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=680Also, the people saying that Coyote wouldn't show compassion or hug Annie might be forgetting this page: www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=489 I think that's as close to a hug in the second to last panel as Coyote can get. And he clearly showed that he was sensitive to Annie's grief at her mother's death. I agree that Ysengrin will not hurt her if she goes into the forest. On this page, www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=674, he clearly restrains himself because of who she is. I'm more concerned about the implication that those entering the forest unannounced will be in trouble. There may be other protections that we don't know about that wouldn't recognize who Annie is or wouldn't care. To conclude, here is my prediction: Annie will make it across the bridge and into the forest but will run into some trouble and possibly will have to use the thing Eglamore gave her here: www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=482. I know it's weird that she'd be carrying it around with her, but it hasn't come up in the comic yet and so I'm wondering if maybe now might be the time.

Screw Monday can it be next Friday? Because its really hard for me to take this like the fast paced action scene it is happening only every other day.

In her distress, her etheric powers may be wild enough to allow her, by sheer force of will, to levitate herself to the bridge without setting off the alarms, but that's a very long shot.

Bah, all I can envision is Annie running up sobbing to Coyote with something along the lines of "I killed my mum!", only to be met with "BAHAHAHA!!! Oh wait, you're serious? ... HAHAHAHAHA." Perhaps I've just taken too strongly to the mention of Coyote being like 4chan personified. This. This all over the place. Annie: An-and they all knew! N-nobody ever told me, I had to learn it from Reynardine! Oh, Coyote! *sob* Coyote: LAUGHING ON LINE. Cool story, bro! I'm sure after a hearty lmao at Annie's cool story, he'll probably try to console her with something funny, she'll snap at him for being so insensitive, and before turning to leave and/or cry some more, Coyote will reveal something interesting and serious.

Wow! Nice catch! Guess that theory goes out the window Not necessarily. Its container appears here later, and looks to be empty this time. The word balloon makes it hard to be certain of that, however.

This would be interesting, as we know Surma hated Jones. www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=540. Since I'm kinda pissed at Surma myself right now, that would make Jones a more logical choice.

I'd be interested in his take on the situation, since he's obviously still pretty screwed up about Surma. He and Rey are pretty much the president and vice president of the "I hate Anthony" club, so, there is that as well... I doubt he'll stop her though. He's bound to show up, because the aftermath of this is going to involve him, but I don't think he's going to interfere in the situation.

Agreed, Great catch on seeing the signal stick in the room! Not necessarily. Its container appears here later, and looks to be empty this time. The word balloon makes it hard to be certain of that, however. I bet it's hidden, because there is really no reason for Annie to have taken it. Agreed; I think it is still there, hidden behind the word balloon. Take a look at its position here on page 804; it is leaning in the far right of the cup. This frame is about the same angle and perspective as the one on page 806 where the word bubble is obscuring it. Perhaps she grabbed the signal stick on page 805, but given the animated dialog going on, I seriously doubt it. There isn't any reason for her to do so at that point. I think it's most likely still there, which means she might regret fleeing into the forest unannounced.
