There isn't a representation of the Great Spirit. It's the sun and the moon, both of which are used in the treatises to represent to Wood and the Court, respectively. Hmm, looks like you're right. I was thinking it was similar to this, but it's actually a whole lot more similar to this.

No one uses the word 'bate' except in this expression. Not entirely true. In my hobby we use the word plenty. Welcome to the club!

What of those pale bands in the air behind both Jeanne and Elfboy? They look too uniform to be clouds.

The symbolism of the swords seems to me to be that of the Three of Swords, with Jeanne in her red dress serving as the impaled heart. The Three of Swords symbolizes betrayal, separation, and loneliness, so it certainly would fit.
Extending that metaphor (perhaps beyond its usefulness), I can see reflections of The Tower in Renardine and Ysengrin in their fall (as the two men falling out of the tower) in Elfboy's half, with symbolism of sudden change, downfall, and a humbling.
Of course, I could just be placing Tarot symbolism everywhere because of overexposure to it...

Edit: Incidentally, there's four swords on the page.

Last night, in the moments my thoughts were adrift And coasting a terrace, approaching a rift Through which I could spy several glimpses beneath Of the darkness the light from above could not reach I spied wings of reason, herself taking flight And upon yonder precipice saw her alight And glared back at me one last look of dismay As if she were the last one she thought I'd betray
So much better I said to myself And drawing quite close to the top of the shelf I struggled with destiny upon the ledge And gasped when defeated he slipped off the edge And silence contagious in moments like these Consumed me and strengthened my will to appease The passion that sparked me one terrible night And shocked and persuaded my soul to ignite
So much better I said to myself And drawing quite close to the top of the shelf I struggled with destiny upon the ledge And gasped when defeated he slipped off the edge
And silence contagious in moments like these Consume me and strengthen my will to appease
The passion that sparked me one terrible night (And shocked and persuaded my soul to ignite) x5

Elfman and Jeanne have a daughter, whose long lost descendant is *gasp* Annie.
You heard it here first folks.

Dunno, I think that would be just too cliché for a GC plot... I think the hair connecting Jeanne and Parley is just a way of showing that Parley is 'receiving' all those memories from Jeanne...

Or it was just for artistic purposes. Either is possible, I think.

In context, I think you meant "just for decorative purposes". Artistic purposes would be attempting to convey a meaning.

Anyway, all joking aside (because I was joking about Parley being descended from Jeanne)...
I seriously seriously doubt Jeanne has any offspring. There's no way she could have brought a baby to term without the people in the Court knowing about it.

Yeah, but even if you were joking, lots of people insist on this idea on the comments of these last pages... I also think it's very unlikely that she ever had a child...

I kind-of feel like the swords are representing the people from court who keep her from going to the forest. If they were the swords she keeps and uses they probably wouldn't be pointed at her. Yes, I was wondering who's holding her by force. The symbolism of the swords seems to me to be that of the Three of Swords, with Jeanne in her red dress serving as the impaled heart. The Three of Swords symbolizes betrayal, separation, and loneliness, so it certainly would fit. Aside from the minor detail of there being four of them. Which might possibly fit for general Court-Forest relations, but really does not fit for Jeanne-Greenguy relations.
