In the land where human beings like to know that the people around them are paying attention and notice things. Yeah, but, haircut? What do I care about people noticing I had a haircut? Yeah, I had a haircut, like probably 100 millions other people that day, I don't need to hear "oh, you've got a haircut" 30 times in the following week, I know I had a haircut, I was there. If people want to show they care, they should rather notice when I'm feeling depressed and need a serious talk. But that never happens.

Also. Guys. Really? City Face is a fun side story. Stop trying to work City Face in as Gunnerkrigg cannon. It was never cannon. -_- Think of it as the actors of a movie doing a short film on the side just for fun during production. It's like The Long and Short of It is to Lord of the Rings. Tom said it was canon right here.

The trouble is, people are extremely bad at communicating.
So, a simple statement like "you got a haircut" can mean lots of different things to different people. I agree it's stupid, but some people really do care about haircuts....
Various possible translations: "Your hair looks different" "Your hair looks better"
"Your hair no longer looks like a tangled, unruly mess" "You paid $12-$30 for that?" "You look good"
"You look weird and it is going to take a while to get used to your new look"
"You look like you want me to complement you on something, so I'd better go for the obvious and notice your hair"
"Why did you get a haircut, you look fine the way you did" "I'm making idle chatter because I don't know what else to say"

I'm sure people sometimes do tack on the extra compliment. however, in a silly sort of way, consider this my answer to Legion's question, "why bother to tell people they got a haircut"? answer: because sometimes people do care. because sometimes what you really want to say is "you got butchered" but you don't actually want to SAY that. also, because sometimes "you got a haircut" is a better conversation starter than "why does your head smell funny?" ;D

In response to the debate about whether or not people like being noticed, I get upset when people DON'T notice I got my hair cut.
I like this chapter so far. It's had an important development for Kat, but it's been quite light-hearted.

Maybe he is City Face Jr., thanks to City Face Sr.'s awesome dancing skills. ...or maybe every pigeon is city face... Or, you know, that's just City Face. Why does he have to be a time traveler? Also. Guys. Really? City Face is a fun side story. Stop trying to work City Face in as Gunnerkrigg cannon. How can it not be canon*? you spelled it wrong

Did Tom change the comment? I'm pretty sure "(it was either that or Train Face)" wasn't there before.

Is it wrong of me to want to comment "You changed your comment!" Is that too meta?
