The plan was never to trap Annie, it's to trap Zimmy. He seeks out Annie because he thinks she can help him find/draw out Zimmy. Him leaving her there means she wasn't an important part of this trap, otherwise he would've dragged her up to the rooftop.

I don't know if someone's already brought this up in the last few pages, and I don't have time to re-read them all, but!
Zimmy appears to have been speaking with proper grammar.
That is all.

I feel Annie is only acting so pushy is because, as she said, she is tired. She's got a look on her face similar to the one she gave Gamma back when she gop'ed Memory!Kat

Yep, i agree about Zimmy's grammar. I think Zimmy and Annie are sort of like, mixed in this chapter:
Zimmy speaks with proper grammar (or other accent) and she seems to be very protective (in a caring non-possessive way) in panel 4; in a similar manner, zimmy seems cautious in panel 3 at page 732; in that same page Jack talks to her in a soft manner and asks her '..if they'll disappear (...) too' if she touches them.
On the other hand, Annie has no scar, begins to have 'dirty-zimmyesque- eyes' (which could be as well a sign of fatigue) and her temper has become more aggressive; and Gamma thinks she is Zimmy and talks to her through telepathy.
Something great is about to happen

I would imagine that Annie was simply not important and the plan was to use Reynardine as a distraction when he went after Zimmy. He said that the court was looking for any excuse to go after Reynardine, he read enough to know about Rey going after Annie who knows how much else was in there.
It follows quite nicely that he would assume they'd prioritize the demi god that they loathe over some crazy student. If Annie could have gotten him Zimmy without triggering the power station Im sure that would've been a bonus but I really think Annie was just a way of getting him a very big distraction in Reynardine.

I am starting to think it was never about trapping anyone; Jack just needed Zimmy to re-enter Zimmyham to get back into the spider's nest. He could have attacked Zimmy in the square but he didn't. Looks like he has been collecting his Memories. I just wonder why he didn't Gop them, maybe that's an ability he doesn't have.

Of course, I wonder what would happen if she tried to use the Stone while she was in etheric space (different sort of etheric space, but still etheric in nature, it seems). Could be one of those "put a portable hole into a bag of holding" situations (world explodes) or it could just "blink" her back to reality. Don't know what you mean under "etheric space", with such an all-consuming definition, but given that the first time no one noticed anything wrong with these three, i would expect one of two things happen: 1) Blinker working as a non-specific amplifier it is and giving the user some greater degree (volume?) of control over shared hallucinations. Including, but not limited to, imaginary fireworks. 2) Seemingly working normally, but with sudden fireworks in the real world in proper positions relative to the user. The problem with the idea that the whole plan was to trap Annie is, Jack was content to leave her at the station pining over Reynardine. A good plan is one that doesn't depend on another person making a choice that you can't control. I doubt that Jack can form a good plan in his state. But since first he invited Annie and then easily abandoned her, it's safe to assume her presence or absence isn't important for his plan. Fire is a more effective weapon against large numbers of spiders than a knife (no matter how sharp the knife...), something I can attest from personal experience . I try in vain to imagine a real situation where it would be both necessary and somehow remotely safe. That said, I don't think we've ever seen Annie use her firestarter/blinker powers offensively, against another being, even though she should theoretically be capable of it. Offensive use isn't the only way - a wall of fire may get the message across very clear (no pun intended).

Remember that almost every time Annie has interacted with Jack after Power Station he's been looking for Zimmy. He has restated this repeatedly, and that was his apparent goal for doing all this. While he may be doing what you're saying, this entire scenario just reinforces his original desire: to get Zimmy. Assuming everyone is who they really are, Jack has succeeded in bringing her out. Now that she (and the rest of them) are in his trap, he's just baiting them to fly right into the web. Annie follows the Jack-memory hoping to help him, Gamma chases "Zimmy" because she's always by her side, and Zimmy follows right behind.

Including, but not limited to, imaginary fireworks. 2) Seemingly working normally, but with sudden fireworks in the real world in proper positions relative to the user. sorry if I was a bit too vague. let me clarify. Jones said that Zimmy was something of a human ether power station. by direct extension, all of her illusions are etheric in nature. we've also seen that Annie can tap into the ether, using the Blinker Stone to amplify her abilities. Annie's methods and results are vastly different from Zimmy's, but it's all basically ether that we're dealing with in either case — magic "realms" or magic "worlds" separate from the "normal" world of reality. as far as I know, Annie's never used her Blinker Stone while in Zimmingham, and she doesn't appear to be too expert at using her Blinker Stone to enter etheric space. this page, for example. that wasn't that long ago. the point I was trying to make is that we really don't have a record of what might happen if Annie tries to use her stone. maybe nothing. or, maybe using a magic object which is attuned to the ether while you're inside a giant illusion made of ether would cause an overload. just a hunch.

Maybe the "buzzzing" isn't a spider-and-the-fly insinuation after all. Maybe Tom's just been listening to the World Cup.

Gop what? His memories? To what end? No, I meant to say that MemoryJack didn't disappear when SpiderJack touched him. But come to think of it, he didn't disappear when Gamma touched him either. So MemoryJack is different from the faceless people walking around there. (as if we didn't have enough questions in this chapter to begin with)

Maybe Gamma has a choice of whether or not to do it.

(as if we didn't have enough questions in this chapter to begin with) Fake Kat didn't disappear when Annie touched her in Zimmingham the last time, either. I've taken that, combined with what we've seen in this chapter, to suggest that gopping a nobody is a conscious effort. It seems to be a decision, not a passive effect. Edit: Fah to your fast fingers, Fen!

Wait she refers to it as THE spiders nest. Maybe she's been their before. Maybe she knows what dangers are inside.

hey, does anybody know if Annie has Coyote's tooth with her? There has been implication that she wears it as a necklace, as the number of cords around her neck went from 2 to 3 after that visit to Coyote (the other two being her Antimony pendant, and her blinker stone). But we've never actually seen the tooth hanging around her neck so it's speculative.

Calling it THE spiders nest rather than A spiders nest can mean one of three things:
The first that everyone jumps on is it's the nest of "the spider" implying a very specific entity that they know of.
The second being that it's a constant landmark that they know of and may have no interaction with other than it being there.
And finally Gamma has noticed the spider on Jack, in which case like the first she would be referring to a specific spider that we already know of.
