And so after the best of efforts of gods, psionics, demons and technopaths the Courts secrets were breached by a magus of the mystical order of Archimedies, somewhat under the weather at the time. HAH!
Take notes, Annie.

Assuming that this plan works, it'd also be a symbolic bridge building.

That is some very clever and competent bridge building!

Holy crap do they have bridgebuilding lessons at the Court or something because that is one hell of a sweet bridge.
I think that's why Annie looks so confused in the last panel. She is stunned by the sweetness of that bridge. She has feelings for that bridge which her usually infallible logic cannot explain.
The fact that Jack's scratching his cheek when he says it's good to see her makes me suspicious, though. Plus, the iris change, because in the fourth panel he's got all big pupils/irises and looks all cute and panda-eyed, whereas in the fifth they've shrunk to pinpricks.

the eye thing happens here, and they were super small in the last panel of the page before that.

Here is a convenient link to what the other side of the wall looks like. I'm guessing they'll proceed by boat. ...but if that bridge Jack built goes all the way to the factory that'd be incredibly cool.

Also I was thinking, Jack built the bridge only for Annie and Renard to pass, he himself doesn't need it (as demonstrated by the fact he was able to build it without anyone's help?)

On another note 'excellent' (see panel five) is a word rarely used by people who are not evil geniuses.

It has the same color and everything. Even though it seems weird with a wall which is 13 stories high. Edit: panel 2 of page 450 that is.

I just noticed that Jack's dark eye circles are bigger than they were in his last appearance. It wasn't that clear in his last couple pages, but it's really noticeable in panels 4 and 5.

So I've got this image of Jack with hundreds of etheric spiders laid in his brain. And he wants to go back to Zimmingham because that's where they want to hatch. And then his face bursts open and they all pour out. And the Nobodies are the empty husks left over from previous pople.

Have to say, didn't expect that. The power station, huh? Why ask the strange etheric girl to go to the power station? Seems like something more in Kat's line. This is obviously more than a simple curiosity trip. Is the power station somehow creating Jack's problem? Or enhancing it? Zimmy mentioned it was "screwing with her head." Maybe Jack is sensing something similar (though not as severe) Hm. Another thought. If Gamma makes things easier for Zimmy, and Annie also helps in that department, does he want Annie around partly to clear up his head? Maybe the power station messes with his head so much he can't even approach it without her help. Also I was thinking, Jack built the bridge only for Annie and Renard to pass, he himself doesn't need it (as demonstrated by the fact he was able to build it without anyone's help?) Ooh, didn't think about that. It's obviously very important to him that Annie come along then. Though Annie could probably just have had Reynardine leap across... Hang on. That might explain why he wants Reynardine there. They're going to need to cross the lake, and if you don't have a boat, a swimming wolf works just as well.

It's a ladder with boards laid across it. He used the black ropes to lower it in place across the gap, and then crawled across to nail the reinforcements in place on both sides. How hard is that? Once again I'm amazed at the lengths people will go through to ascribe some sort of unnecessary superhuman qualities to this kid.

On another note 'excellent' (see panel five) is a word rarely used by people who are not evil geniuses. Agreed! But... I dont want Jack to be evil. Oh well, we'll find out soon enough. Also I love Annie and Rey's expressions when they see the bridge. Hang on. That might explain why he wants Reynardine there. They're going to need to cross the lake, and if you don't have a boat, a swimming wolf works just as well. Rey's body is a stuffed toy. Who's to say he won't get waterlogged and sink a quarter of the way through? True, Jack might not have thought of that though or eh doesn't know "the wolf" is actually a stuffed toy... though I don't particularly think he wants Reynardine there for swimming purposes.

Once again I'm amazed at the lengths people will go through to ascribe some sort of unnecessary superhuman qualities to this kid. You're assuming that legion meant Jack jumped across the gap / jumped 13 stories / etc. Which [edit] legion might have. There's actually nothing inherently untrue in the statement that he built it for Annie because he himself could've gotten by without such an elaborate setup. That was my first thought! But then I decided that Jack strikes me as the sort of guy to have arranged a boat. (Or maybe there will be a sprint when the water goes down? ... but it doesn't appear to go down all the way so probably not.)

I'm thinking he probably has some kind of boat, not to mention a ladder or some stairs on the other side (the wall is 13 stories tall, remember).

I certainly couldn't do that. I think you could, you probably mean that you wouldn't want to risk it. But that wasn't my point. My point was that the likelihood of someone doing what I described is a lot greater than the likelihood of someone sprouting supernatural abilities and being able to leap across the gap.

I see.
Well I could probably build such a bridge if I had a plan and notice (ignoring my mild fear of heigth and of open spaces), but conceiving one from scratch, let alone building it, I'm pretty sure that's out of my league.
(I mean, nailing stuff into contcrete? I don't even know what kind of tool and nails I would need to do that)
