I wonder if Kat avoided saying "than never to have loved at all", because she felt this might hurt Annie's feelings -- make her feel bad that she has not yet had romantic feelings for anyone yet (in Kat's knowledge anyway - and ours).
--
Other than that, the three chapters in volume three have so far seemed to be trying to utilize more unconnected threads than had previously been the case with the chapters in the two previous volumes... "Jupiter Moon Martians" introduced Jack's menace at the end in a manner unrelated to the previous (and well-entwined) Smith&Parley + Simulations storylines of the chapter.
This continued somewhat at Residential, when Jack's threat was again a sort of B-plotline to the disappearance plot.
Now we seemingly unrelatedly return to the issue of Smith&Parley after a chapter that seemed to be focused on the robots and Jeanne instead.
This, mind you, has not been unique to the volume -- e.g. it takes lots of pages for "Red Returns" to actually reach the character of Red, while "Mainly Involves Robots" both begins and ends differently on minor different notes (Kat's study of Shadow 2 in the beginning, the threat of the forest at the end)
It's just a bit surprising to me that all these three chapter exhibit what had previously only been a rarity. I wonder if it's just coincidence, or a stylistic choice by Tom to attempt to create more of a chaotic feel of the life in Gunnerkrigg court.

So, Smitty/Parley folks, cookie party later. Also: Is it just me or does Kat look like Rosie the Riveter in that outfit? Check the Fanart thread!

I hope Annie's not planning an intervention; the last intervention (from Jones, of course, not from Annie) was what caused this trouble. (Not to mention that many of Annie's past interventions haven't worked out that well either; she sent Robot across the bridge and it led to him getting possessed by a corrupt shadow-person, Annie herself getting knocked off the bridge, Robot being converted into paper clips, and a serious diplomatic incident between the Court and the Wood; she tried to patch things up between Red and Blue and it led to Red pushing Blue around like a slave - though anyone shallow enough to choose her friends by their hair-styles probably deserves that kind of treatment - and so on. She seems to be at her best in handling confused lost souls like Martin, and Smith and Parley are still in the realm of the living.)
My advice would be to let them sort it out themselves rather than trying to meddle and possibly making things worse (unless it was done in such a way that got them both angry at the meddler and made them forget their quarrel in the process).
Maybe the blending of threads together that Aris pointed out might also be a reflection of how the story's developed into a tapestry, as more new elements have emerged. (Much like, say, the animated series "Gargoyles" whose later episodes often reflected the growth of its tapestry as well - so that, say, one of the episodes near the end of the second season had two previously unconnected antagonists - Hakon and Wolf - team up against Goliath and combined that with an extra in a few of the past episodes finally decide he's had it up to here with the gargoyles and start hunting them with a gun that fires banana cream pies.)
Kat's mangled quote is from Tennyson, incidentally (though it was a reflection on the death of a close friend rather than of a lover). Good point on why Kat might have misquoted it (though I wonder whether Annie really feels that troubled that she hasn't fallen in love with anyone).

So um...anything that we should speculate about? this page seems pretty plain and simple.

Haha, Annie is so cute. And so is Kat too, actually. So it was about Parley and Andrew. Acting like enemies now, hm... One day they will both jump each other. Hopefully not around Annie. Poor girl. Yes, cookies to those who saw who the aforementioned couple were about. That couple continues to remind me of Asuka and Shinji, though not as depressing. That is a scarily accurate description.

I think Tom's annalysis is pretty spot-on...which isn't surprising, considering how he is the creator of the characters. I really like Annie's face in panel five. It just looks so plainly sad. That couple continues to remind me of Asuka and Shinji, though not as depressing. Ah, Neon Genesis Evangelion! My mortal enemy!

Maybe Kat is referring to Mort when she talks about dead people? Long-winded guess.
Also, what's up with Tom's tweets?
Is he high on something?

There's a white dot under Annie's left eye in every panel. I wonder if that's important.

xenakis: I think that has to do with her being cold. Welcome to the forums!
todd: re "though I wonder whether Annie really feels that troubled that she hasn't fallen in love with anyone)", We (me included) keep saying things like this, but I at least keep forgetting that she's still a teenager, and it's come out in her personality before. Based on how she normally acts, we wouldn't think she would feel troubled, but I wouldn't be that surprised if she did.
Question: "Acting like enemies now, hm... One day they will both jump each other." (yazzydream) reminds me of Janet and William. Anyone think George and Andrew are just being like them?

There's a white dot under Annie's left eye in every panel. I wonder if that's important. It's just a shiny dot to accentuate her cheeks. It's come up before and Tom confirmed it.

My advice would be to let them sort it out themselves rather than trying to meddle and possibly making things worse (unless it was done in such a way that got them both angry at the meddler and made them forget their quarrel in the process). Why not intervene? She's training to be a mediator, right? This would be good practice, and everyone involved could learn a thing or two.
