Cool, interesting lead-in... no idea what the chapter's going to be about, which is unusual. I would obviously suspect that it will involve Kat because of the pliers. But what is Sky Watcher? And what is the Angel? VERY intriguing...

Let's remember that Robot's designation was S13, with S standing for Seraph, shall we?

I have absolutely zero idea what the chapter's going to be about. That's a first for me I think.

Quite the juxtaposition between title and cover page. I expect we'll have fun - as always.

The Arkenpliers?
I am intrigued! I'm gonna go ahead and assume Kat, someone related to an observatory, and Robot or Jeanne.
I will likely be wrong, as usual.

Well, Kat -was- in the observatory after Annie came back from the Forest in Ch. 20. *clueless shrug*

OH! Just after I posted that, I had a flash of insight.
I predict this chapter will be about Kat building Robot's new body that she promised him back in S1! Poor guy's still been stuck in the little mouse body.
Kat=Sky Watcher and Robot=the Angel (nod to Yin). That's my bet!

SPECULATION TIME Sky Watcher. It might be some kind of a device (a big telescope? I have a feeling it would have to be something really big) or a building (an observatory?) A person (Sky Watcher might be a function like Dragon Slayer)? A robot? An anti-missile defense system? What's the Watcher's function? Does it have something to do with weather (like the Power Station)? With the sun? The moon (remember Annie's fingerprint?)? Also, who watches the Sky Watcher? Angel. A real angel (as in, a humanoid with wings) who lives in the sky and is presumably being watched - and if so: a member of a specific species of such creatures (like dryad or fairy), or an unique creature, perhaps an actual servant of the Great Spirit? Something to do with psychopomps (perhaps the Angel's a Christian psychopomp)? Or a flying vehicle? Or a flying robot? Pliers. Used to cut something? Damage something? For some reason, this title and picture makes me think of Chapter 19, Power Station.

I also just thought that Sky Watcher sounds like a Native American name, and could be Shadow 2's proper name. Maybe the chapter is about Shadow 2 and Robot: Kat making Robot a new body, and Annie learning more about what happened when Shadow 2 went home, and why he decided to come back to the Court.

With all that fuss she was making over androids, I figured she would at least try for something a bit more original. But pegging Robot as the Angel in the title is a good guess. I think 'Sky Watcher' refers to some as-of-yet unknown party.

Sky Watcher = Watcher in the Sky = TicTocs? Alternatively, Watcher in the Sky = The Great Spirit?

A bit of a random guess, but; Angel = Robot or another S unit (since whatever the S stands for was the name of an angel).

The image sort of has the, um, "splotchy" look that I associate with the backgrounds in flashback panels. Do you think that's significant? Maybe the chapter deals with the origin of the Model S robots.
Probably not, but I just wanted to throw my speculation hat into the ring.
...excuse me, I have to go make a speculation hat now.

Pretty cool title. I'm guessing "sky watcher" is some sort of astronomer, but I can't think what "angel" would.... Let's remember that Robot's designation was S13, with S standing for Seraph, shall we? Oh yeah I wonder if we're going to get more info on his back story here. Also that is a very well-drawn pliers.

TVTropes says: lack of bismuth symbol on pliers implies they belong to someone from outside the Court! An unknown third party? A saboteur from the outside world? New evil arrives to threaten! An intruder desires to destroy the tranquility! A challenger appears!

The sky watcher could be Young on Nevihta, after all he does fly through the sky. The angel could, in this slightly ridiculous proposition of mine, be Diego, as he's the creator of the Seraph model. I posit that we'll find out more about the backstory between them and possibly Jeanne.
As long as we're all speculating. ;D

Would Kat just build a variation of the Seraph model for Robot's new body? With all that fuss she was making over androids, I figured she would at least try for something a bit more original. Also, making the new body different from the Seraph model seems more prudent to me. Remember, Robot's a fugitive; you don't want his new body to remind the teachers of that incident at the bridge and thereby awaken their suspicions. Kat's wanting to build a robot makes a good cover story (since it's the kind of thing she'd want to do, anyway), but even that might not be enough if the new body resembles the old one too closely. About the lack of the bismuth symbol on the shears: Another possibility is that this story might not take place in the Court at all. It could be another flashback story from Annie's Good Hope days (maybe even a story that she heard from one of the Guides about, say, an astronomer in another part of the world), for example.

Wow, I was going to comment on the lack of a symbol but that's been THOROUGHLY ninja'd, nice. x)
I wonder if Angel can have double meanings...and Sky Watcher, for that matter. My gut reaction was to say Aly and Kat, but we've been assured she won't see him again (though never that HE won't see HER, but...). Kat seems to fit well as a Sky Watcher, and the Angel could definitely be Robot...
Or what about Diego as the Sky Watcher and Jeanne as the Angel? He did have a shrine to her, and I'm sure he was watching her more or less constantly. He would think of her as an angel, I think.
Eh. Speculation at 7 AM, probably not a good idea. XD

I think it's "Thousand Eyes and the Seraph". Of course, we're carpet-bombing anyway, as usual, but hey, that's the fun. Let's remember that Robot's designation was S13, with S standing for Seraph, shall we? Good point. "Angel" = "almost Seraph". It's on the other side. I predict this chapter will be about Kat building Robot's new body that she promised him back in S1! Poor guy's still been stuck in the little mouse body. Figures. IMO Kat is likely neither able nor willing to copy the original as is, so it's something new. There's a long way between her and magi-tech she didn't even started to walk yet, but on the other hand she has an opportunity to put her anti-grav gadgets to good use.

This title of this chapter is unusually... flowey? I dunno. Sort of sounds like a fantasy novel rather than a Gunnerkrigg chapter. This makes me think that once again the plot of the chapter is going to be very far removed from the expected.
Anyway I just wanted to post here to say I think this is a very beautiful page!

For some reason I think that, even if Kat made Robot's new body different from the original one, she'd try to make some kind of homage to it. Like giving it wings, for example. Especially given that she has a soft spot for winged creatures

Hey guys I just remembered that the first time Robot sees Kat he calls her an angel. Can't find the page but thought I'd just put that out there so all the speculators could go crazy over it!

I like the idea of one of these. The first was the first thing I thought of, but the second was my favorite idea on the page.
