It's kind of sad, though, isn't it? Look at his eyes - both the physical and the spirit. Makes me all sympathetic and such. In other news, I really like the top row.

Now THAT is a neat trick... Annie and Reynardine being able to essentially speak telepathically. Also: Spirit Renard is great looking! Tom alluded last week, or maybe it was the week before, that Rey and Annie seemed to be closer... maybe we were just shown why. She discovered in Chapter 21 that she could communicate with him etherically ( reference) and since we had a flashback chapter and a City Face break since then, in Annie's timeline that scene was the last thing we'd seen. So it would appear Annie has been utilizing her newfound skills and that's brought them closer. This is SUCH a cool update.

Odd thought: could Annie speak telepathically with either Zimmy or Gamma now? Or is that something completely different?

That's a very interesting question. I wonder! Even more interesting would be if she could overhear their conversation, or if they could overhear her conversation with Reynardine...
P.S.: What a total trip it would be to have that ability. That's one of the fundamental "wishes" that I have (along with flying, invisibility, most people's standards). Perhaps that's why I've always been interested in foreign languages. I started to learn sign language in college just so that I could speak without speaking, and without others knowing what's going on right in front of them.
Sharing private, unseen communication that no one else could penetrate is very sexy in my opinion.

What gets me is that Reynardine, of all people, is nervous about trickery. I guess it's only okay when he's the one doing it

Hmm interesting point as well. Perhaps he meant "THIS trickery just makes me a little nervous" referring to the artificial reality chamber. I would suppose that for a creature of the etherium, nothing would be quite as unsettling as a totally artificial world. Maybe that's why Reynardine didn't go along on the Spacemonauts sim. Perhaps he's only here now because Jones piqued his interest with her comment about him finding it interesting, and now he's regretting coming.
Perhaps he recognizes that this is the kind of trickery that can undo the trickster, as it were. Interesting, then, that the way Annie ends up comforting him would be by using etheric energy... probably this is to Reynardine what a breath of fresh air in a stale, fetid room would be to us.

I have a feeling we're about to see something from Gunnerkrigg's past.....
Also, I like spirit Reynardine.

Odd thought: could Annie speak telepathically with either Zimmy or Gamma now? Or is that something completely different? I think using the blinker stone anywhere NEAR zimmy is a really, REALLY BAD IDEA!! her spirit must be like some kind of lovecraftian nightmare. possibly see why rey is doesn't like her and is afraid of anything she makes...

Odd thought: could Annie speak telepathically with either Zimmy or Gamma now? Or is that something completely different? I don't think so, they're basically shifting to another plane (or something) and speaking their. They aren't transmitting their thoughts to each other as much as just taking advantage of a private (in so far as no one present can access it) space. Zimmy and Gamma have actual telepathy. Of course we don't know how that works either, so there might be a way the blinker stone can be used to intercept their chatter.

Ah, Annie with the beautiful hair again. Gets a happy grin out of me every time. The sight of them walking around in there with the flowers and chocolates is pretty amusing too.
As for our jittery Rey: He's the trickster. Obviously he's not going to enjoy being the object of trickery. Tricksters typically hold all the cards, or know enough to bluff their way through - here he has not the slightest clue of what's going on.

Odd thought: could Annie speak telepathically with either Zimmy or Gamma now? Or is that something completely different? It's probably something completely different; I have the suspicion that Zimmy and Gamma operate by a different set of rules than those of the Court and the Wood (reflecting the fact that they were originally a separate creation). Note that Annie, while able to handle Zimmy's troubles, is less effective at doing so than Gamma is.

Odd thought: could Annie speak telepathically with either Zimmy or Gamma now? Or is that something completely different? Well, at least one of them, most likely Gamma used to see Annie with that scratch, so it seems to be the same "spirit-sight". I think using the blinker stone anywhere NEAR zimmy is a really, REALLY BAD IDEA!! her spirit must be like some kind of lovecraftian nightmare. Since in Zimmy's shared nightmare Annie has a scratch, probably this works both ways, i.e. "spirit-sight" is the same for all applications. Therefore, Zimmy looks as usual, but in that dark cloth. Also, if above is correct, Gamma may see everyone that way and she doesn't exactly run away screaming.

Thank you for putting up those links, because I saw something quite interesting in them. Whereas here Annie's etheric scratch is still bleeding, by here, the trip into Zimmingham, it is merely a rather livid scar. Does this show Annie's growing control over her etheric side? Or is it a more literal healing over time, like all injuries, simply of an etheric nature? Or is there actually nothing of note here and I'm on a hiding to nothing?

I guess this is a simulation where those suits aren't needed.

Well the suits aren't ever needed to see the images in the imaging chamber. They're just needed for haptic feedback. So while they can see everything around them and they can feel the floor, they would pass through any object without feeling it. And the floor would always feel like... floor. At least that's how I understood it.

Annie has such pretty hair. I wonder if I could get mine to look that nice.
For some reason I got "We're off to see the Wizard" stuck in my head whilst reading today's page. I wonder who those flowers and chocolates are for...

You know Parley might have enough psychic power to see into the spirit realm.

Yeah, we’ve been following this comic for some time now … The way Jones and Smith are carrying the flowers and chocolates, they look like presents for someone they are about to visit, no?

Allright, I guess I'm not being clear enough or something. The question was asked who the flowers and chocolates might be for, and they're obviously from Dr. Disaster to Jones, so, I don't know what else to say.

But then, why did Jones take the flowers into the next simulation, rather than looking for a vase while the others were changing? Why is Smith now carrying the chocolates? Just in case he gets hungry? But it was Parley who took one.

The question was asked who the flowers and chocolates might be for, and they're obviously from Dr. Disaster to Jones, so, I don't know what else to say. The implication at the time was that they were simply a gift from him to her, but it is entirely possible that Jones required them for the next simulation, and he was providing them in the same way he is providing the simulation.
