Doctor Disaster? And may I also add, that little bit in the bottom left is simultaneously hilarious and adorable.

Ooh! An elbow right to the face!
Melodrama has its drawbacks.
[edit]
Even for "spacemonauts".

So, are Smitty and Paley an example of conflict or teamwork?

Same kind of gag as Ch 10 when Dr. Disaster says "from their moon base... on the moon!"

This is certainly a step up from fencing lessons. Advanced Placement Medium Training, perhaps? - - - - - - - - - - - - All right, who wants to take bets on whether Parley is actually injured?

Hey, hold up a minute. I can handle 'Jupiter' and 'moon', but Martians too? Howzat work? Emigration? Maybe their insurance premiums on mars got too high after their death ray was vandalised by a bunch of unruly school children?

So yesterday I realized we'd get a relatively boring title page today, after two weeks of triple sweet City Face. Hoo boy, was I wrong. This is a fine page.
Tom really does know his classics, this title page has all the awesome elements. Let it be known that if and when this becomes available for print at any vaguely reasonable price I would buy it. I would buy it hard. Tom: I would buy it. Gogogo!
Oddities I noticed: Parley seems to have a bit of black hair - presumably Smitty's - but Smitty doesn't have any brown hair. I guess I'm looking for silly details, but that gets me a little bit curious.
Spacemonauts awaaaay!

I've had my concerns in the past about a second Dr. Disaster chapter; I was afraid that it would be almost impossible to keep it from feeling repetitive. Tom had provided an element of seriousness in the first story by tying it in to Annie's overly solemn disposition, but she's learned now not to be so stuffy about these things. And mere good-natured skewering of all the bad science and cliches of 1950's sci-fi movies wouldn't be enough for a second story without it feeling like a more pallid sequel (although it might provide Tom the opportunity to parody the phenomenon of the sequel being weaker than the original story).
The title page suggests a solution, though, with Annie's teammates this time around being Parley and Smith rather than her regular classmates; that should provide some variety. I suspect that the main thing that Annie will learn around them is that you don't learn much when Parley's around - especially when Smith's also around for her to hassle. I'll be amazed if Parley lets Dr. Disaster get in even a few words of instruction to the spacemonauts.
EDIT: After taking a second look at the page, it seems from the "alien tribes in conflict" part that this will be part of medium training (Annie, Parley, and Smith having to provide a peaceful solution to an interplanetary war), which further allays my worries that it would feel like a repeat. (Though I suspect that if Parley isn't careful, she'd wind up having the alien tribes drop their war so that they can unite against *her*.)

I wonder if the Jupiter Moon Martians have any arms... Hell yes, Parley and Smits. This is gonna be awesome. I'd bet they have arms but no legs. And is Annie scoping Andrew at the top there? Yes, she definitely is.

I was just thinking about how awesome it would be to have full movie-poster size prints of both the Spacemonauts posters flanking my monitor over my desk...

Informal, Tongue-In-Cheek Survey Time!
Is Smitty's expression in the lower left because she is elbowing him in the face? Or is it because he is straining trying to hold up the more-developed Parley? INQUIRING MINDS want to know!
A) Smitty got a humerus sandwich!
B) Older women can be bad for the back!
YOU decide, Spacemonaut Fans!!
