Nice transition. I don't think anyone noticed it. But seriosuly. Eglamore looks a tad sheepish to me. Why is that?

Did that sword just pulverize that creature like a tree chopper? I hope all the shadowpeople got out in time.

I wonder if this is how Annie's shadow-people friend got into the Court in the first place...
This was several decades ago, though, so... maybe actually they've formed a breeding colony somewhere and it's one of the kids?

Mystery solved!
So there is more than one spy in the Court.

I wonder why his hair got darker as he got older. Do you think he dyed it or did a wizard do it!

Eglamore looks a tad sheepish to me. Why is that? Anja’s magic took care of the dog and Mr. Thorn delivered the coup de grâce, and what did Eglamore do?

Perhaps, though as I've mentioned elsewhere, we don't know how long it takes them to reach maturity. They might age at a slower rate than humans, for all that we know - in which case, that could be the future Shadow2 creeping away.

I thought it was strange that the wood-dog-tree thing just poofed! Most things don't go POOF when they die. (Or in this case: "CHFF")

(Or in this case: "CHFF") I've wondered, on the basis of pretty much nothing, if the glowing purple sword might be part computer sword, like Anja & Donald's Reynardine-restraining program. The pre-"chff" hum it emitted only makes me continue to wonder. Like, would it have hummed and chffed the DogWood if Mr. Thorn hadn't been holding the grip? (Edited to fiks a speline misteak)

Or, or course, the bonsaiwolves aren't as "real" as we make them out to be. When you cut your hair short, it gets darker. That's why James has dark hair. And some people's just naturally change over time - I have brown hair now, but I had white hair up until I was about 11. EDIT:: I'm also wondering how Thorn fits his beard in that helmet.

Your hair being cut shorter doesn't make it darker, it only *looks* darker.
But I'm boggling at your white-to-brown hair. How'd that work?

Or he could've had a magical disease that burned off his hair and when it grew out again it was black. Or perhaps he shaved his head when Surma died, for some reason, I seem to recall Jones mentioning that he's growing it out again? I... am speculant, mind me not.

Yeah, but not that degree (I have brown hair that used to be blond myself). Doesn't red hair tend to turn brown, not black anyway?

Hold up, singed? I'm getting confused here.
Also, he couldn't have shaved his head, since her death wasn't very long before we first saw him. I think he was just growing it out from his short haircut.

Doesn't the hair get singed when you cut your hair very short? Some teacher told me that once, but I'm not confident. Found it. hair doesn't get darker when you cut it. That's a myth, caused by the fact that the roots of your hair are much darker than the rest, so when it first grows back it appaears darker at first (hence, stubble is always dark regardless fo hair colour). It also appears more course, as the tip hasn't yeat grown back after being cut off, the root of the hair is thicker and short objects are generally harder to bend (I don't suppose anyone who continued physics after GCSE level could explain that?).

My hair was much lighter when I was younger. I remember looking in the mirror once and wondering how blond it would get. Now it's brown. Though I've been told I could pass for blond. This confuses me to this day. How would this affect Surma and Antmony's hair, I wonder? Since it's pink.

Hair doesn't get darker when you cut it... but it DOES get lighter when you let it grow long. The sun bleaches your hair, as anyone who spent their youth in the backyard pool could tell you (e.g. me.) Of course I acknowledge that the chlorine in pool water might have something to do with that... but I've seen other young kids who run around all day in the sun in the summertime have their hair lighten from sun exposure. Of course if you get your hair cut, the part that is now the "ends" is the part that was underneath and therefore it's darker. Plus, when winter comes around and your hair isn't being sun-bleached all the time, it seems to revert to a darker color, although I have nothing but first-hand observation to base that on and no explanation of why.

Anyone else notice that he decided not to bring his shoulder plates?
I could have sworn they were there in the previous panels, but maybe I just didn't notice.

I was thinking different levels of armor for different combat situations. I reviewed chapter three, and noticed that Eglamore is only wearing his chainmail under-layer. In today's strip Thorn is wearing the same, but also wearing the breastplate. I can't imagine why Eglamore would square off with a rogat orjak only wearing his chainmail, but there you have it. Perhaps it was an emergency situation when Reynardine broke out of his cell, and he had less time to prepare than when Thorn was called in to deal with the tree-dogs (given that one of them was already handled by the buzzsaw-bots).

I'd guess that with a creature that large, no amount of armour's going to be any use, so he was better off with lighter armour to make it easier to dodge.

My betting is that James went through an emo phase when he was 15, then later grew out of it but decided to keep the colour. I'd love to see Emo Eglamore, I hope that's what happened. My hair has definitely grown darker. I was very blonde when younger, now I'm almost a brunette (if that word also applies to guys).

Wouldn't a brown haired guy be a brun? Also I myself have noticed this change in hair colour. When I was much younger I had bright blond hair but now it's dark brown. Even when it's long.
