I can't tell if it is or not, but if Mr. Thorn's office is the same one that Eglamore would later get, that would be pretty cool.

Think maybe Mr. Thorn may have had a teensy bit of influence on Eglamore's teaching style?

It sure is, and I wanna read the signs on the two office doors. I suspect one of them says "Jones".

And the chapter finally returns to where the action really is: Mr. Thorn's Beard.

I wonder why he'd be expelled over a mere fight? I don't suppose he's been in trouble before, or that Hyland's family has any special sort of pull there?

Mr. Thorn has some big hands.
And yay, familiarity!

Well-run schools generally don't approve of fighting. The first high school I attended had a rule that any student who struck another student in anger would be expelled.

I know there's dialogue in this page, but all I can think when I look at it is BEARDBEARDBEARDBEARDBEARD.

I know there's dialogue in this page, but all I can think when I look at it is BEARDBEARDBEARDBEARDBEARD. I'm starting to understand why many readers have described themselves as confused about who the different characters are and what their connections are to each other.

Also: Thorn's hands are the size of Eglamore's torso. How cool is that?

idonotlikepeas, your glimpse into the depth of the human condition astounds me.
And I'm pretty certain the other door says 'Jones' as well.

Looks like someone already added today's example of this to the list of occurrences. Also, I'm very interested in Mr. Thorn's office. I want to see what other kinds of things he's get in there. From the looks of it, he's got a bookcase, a bust of some famous person, and model of a knight in a glass case, and of course whatever in under that wrap.

The bust of a famous person is probably Snoop Dog.
And I'm guessing he's how James got his dragon slaying training... Veerrrryyyy familiar wrapped up thingy in the corner.

Well-run schools generally don't approve of fighting. The first high school I attended had a rule that any student who struck another student in anger would be expelled. My school had the same rule, and would not even allow fighting to defend yourself against a physical attack from someone else. If you did anything more than hold up your arms to block or push your attacker away, you would be considered just as guilty.

I can't help it if I'm distracted. I just wish mine were half as epic!
ETA:
On a slightly more serious note, I don't think it's Jones on the next door. Why would the kids be discussing Jones being in their picture if she were already a teacher? (Or whatever it is that she is, technically.) It would be more than a bit strange to have a picture of your tightly-knit group of school chums which also included a random instructor. I'd guess she's the same age as the rest of the cast here, so if she has an office already there's something very odd going on.

We already knew that Surma et al knew Jones from the time when *they* were students. And we also already knew that Jones was never a student at Gunnerkrigg. Humans we have seen within the school itself that were not students or faculty/staff: none. In addition we know that Jones has a rather strange background, although we don't know what it is.

HAHAHAHA. That's a great idea. On another note, I wouldn't mind finding out who the medium was before Surma took the post.
