Oh snap!
Now we know where Annie may have learned her fancy self-defense stuff from.

I wonder if Tom's comment at the bottom of the page is yet another expression of exasperation over having to spell everything out.

Long time without a post... thinking back when I was 12, if I happened to be in the situation Donny is, I might have a small heart-attack.... poor Donny

That Surma's a smooth mover. She's quite the matchmaker. To be fair, Anja and Donny were never going to do anything if left to their own devices except mutter and look at their shoes.

Someone mentioned in a previous thread that the Court seems to be in better shape than will be during Annie's stay. Judging by the cracks in the wall in panel 3, I think it's more that the characters haven't been close enough to a wall for us to see the cracks for most of the chapter. That said, the tan walls feel a little odd, because I'm so used to the dark blue color from Annie's day. I guess the walls are intended to tie in with the sepia-toned flashback effect. I don't know who any of the four or five people in this strip are What are these colored shapes supposed to represent again some of them have words on them help it's so confusing

I wonder if Tom's comment at the bottom of the page is yet another expression of exasperation over having to spell everything out. No he is obviously trying to lead us astray because we all know Tom totally hates us and I am going to write 3 paragraphs explaining how I am right.

Anja and Donny are perfect for each other! Check out panel 6 - neither of them have eyes! Even Donny's pupil dots have disappeared in lust and embarassment.

The first two panels are very sweet, but got overshadowed by my hysterical laughter at the last five.
Oh, the tangible awkwardness! Is so cute!

Anybody who complains about Tom's note at the bottom of the page has clearly not been paying close attention to the story.
(Though it's possible that some readers have been almost ignoring the main story and are reading "Gunnerkrigg Court" more for the side-elements - say, Boxbot, Dr. Disaster's classes, Kat's enthusiasm for pop culture, etc. - than for Annie's adventures and discoveries.)

I would hope not. Their missing the best part of the story (that is, almost all of it)
