Very nice.
I vote for the alternate topic of this thread to be: "What would Reynardine Drew?"
(bad pun, I know, it's late, so sue me...)

Sorry edzepp, this one had a reply first. We all still appreciate you.
This will be fun for whoever gets Rey in the voiceover project.
Y'know, I never read Nancy Drew. I was a Tom Swift Jr kid.

That's alright. It happens. Wouldn't be the first time I got beaten to the proverbial punch.
Oh, Reynardine we love you. You're a ruthless body-possessing fox who likes Nancy Drew, and we love you.

Spurning Verne and Dante for Nancy Drew? Interesting taste, Rey.

Whoa....Reynardine? Where'd that ol' boy come from? Haven't seen him in a few weeks......guess this is what he's been doing the whole time.
Also, Verne? Dante? RUBBISH!

Even if this Reynardine is not the same as the one from European Folklore I think that we can be very certain that him, Coyote, and Ysengrin have lived for very long. He may have already read all the "classics" and grown to appreciate more dynamic and easy-to-read fiction for entertainment. He certainly needs entertainment as he he spends most of his time locked in Annie's room. And let's not to forget that he may be reflecting Tom's enjoyment of stories with strong female leads.
Annie has a lot of books just piling up in her room. Has Tom ever told us if Annie reads all these or if she borrows them for Reynardine?

This page should mean a final end to all those speculations about Reynardine possessing Annie just after he caught her spying on him with the blinker stone.
I wonder what he'd do if Annie was to walk in on him just then, a la the "tea party with Kat's action figures" incident.
Come to think of it, isn't Nancy Drew a redhead? (I haven't read the books, and only know of them by reputation.)

Popping in to say that in every single book Nancy is described as a "strawberry blonde," which I always took to mean she was a blonde-ish redhead. Make of that what you will.

Have you ever noticed that the end of (almost) every chapter in a Nancy Drew book would end in an exclamation?
Forget the stories, i use to go thru those to see whether there was some kinda secret binary code there written in exclamations and full stops.

I love Rey's eyes in the last panel. He looks so engrossed!
So now that that chapter is done, what do you think is going to be the subject of the next chapter? I'm going to guess maybe something class related, as we haven't seen Annie or Kat in school for a while.

I'd like to check-in with some of the secondary characters, like Parlay and Andrew, or (the-students-formerly-known-as) the fairies. Then again, Tom did say that we'd be seeing Jack again soon, so perhaps there will be another power station-related chapter, or maybe he wants to know what-the-heck happened when Zimmy lost her cool.

It's possible that Rey has read every single other book in the room, and he's only turning to Nancy Drew out of boredom... But those eyes in the last panel are not the eyes of someone reading solely because there's nothing better to do. Tom mentioned on Twitter that Parley and Smith will return in ch 23.

Tom described the school uniform's colors that he designed for Annie when he began the webcomic as ugly (and that he only chose them because they were the only colors he had); could the more recent chapters have been set outside regular school time so that he could have Annie and Kat wearing civvies instead?

Is that Milton in the 3rd panel? It looks a bit like the Penguin Popular Classics edition of “Paradise Lost”, even when the author’s name is set in a rectangular rather than oval frame. The Verne also suggests a Penguin paperback edition (impossible to guess which of Jules Verne’s many works it is, unfortunately).
