Residual programming of some sort?

Seems to confirm what was already assumed: The court's robots are self-replicating descendants of Diego's original creations, who inherited their obsession for Jeanne from their creator.
"HL"-model would be "heavy lifting"?

So S13 has been talking to other robots? Seems dangerous, seeing as he's on the lam and all.

These fellas are just ridiculously cute.
How do we know they know he's on the lam? He could be talking to them under an assumed name.

That little robot who takes his hat off to salute Annie and Kate is so funny, and cute
I kinda like these HL models

So S13 has been talking to other robots? Seems dangerous, seeing as he's on the lam and all. Hadn't thought of that (which seems strange, after my earlier concerns about Kat's plans to build a larger body for him than the robotic mouse body), but it's a good point. On the other hand, as Yin points out, the other robots might not know he's the one whom Annie broke out a year before.

It's probably a case of both. They may have been told about the painting, but their reaction could've been "What the hell circuitboards have YOU been playing with?!" not this odd obsession. Wouldn't matter who told them in that case, either, be it a tall Seraph or a tiny mousebot with an ear.

I wonder if they're also there to check out Diego and the oldbots. I imagine it could be a little like if someone found a room full of sculptures by Michelangelo that had remained unknown since nobody had bothered to open a trapdoor. It might even be the cradle of life for them.

Cutest comic ever. I swear they'll start referring to Kat as boss one of these days. And Kat will get a large signet ring. And a Bullbot-head will appear at the end of Winsbury's bed...

Those bots are adorable. This webcomic is adorable.
And I love how the threads we'd almost-but-not-really forgotten come back at such appropriate times. Lovely writing.

One further thought about "is Robot in danger of blowing his cover?" Almost all of the robots at Court seem somewhat slow and gullible - in their case, artificial intelligence is *definitely* artificial - except maybe the Milton-quoting robot horse. (And Jones, if she really is a robot; we don't have that confirmed yet.) So maybe the robots whom Robot spoke to haven't figured out that he's a wanted fugitive.
Certainly Annie and Kat don't seem worried that he might have given himself away.

Yeah, it seems very unlikely that these robots suspect anything. I was just wondering why Robot would risk blowing his cover in the first place. Someone on another forum pointed out a possible explanation: Since the Robot society is so used to complete obedience (see the Guardbot's complete befuddlement when Annie ran away from them) the concept of an "escaped convict" is probably new to them -- it may not have occurred to them look for S13 or that strange robot who broke him out.
Or maybe for Robot S13, devotion to Jeanne trumps all.

What it shows once again is that the GC robots are capable of independant behaviour and actually have emotions. That's artificial intelligence with a big fat capital I.

Well, what I meant was that most of them come across as easily duped (Annie is able to deceive them with a transparent disguise, for example, and the guard-bots seem on the same competency level as the Keystone Kops).
I forgot one other exception to my "Gunnerkrigg robots are generally comically inept" post above: the Tic-Toc birds.

Todd - Tic-Tocs aren't Gunnerkrigg robots, in the sense that the Court really doesn't know what's up with them. See page 279 for proof.
I think Court-bots have a very Eden-ish nature to them - they are innocent beings of incredible complexity, living in what is to them an uncomplicated world. This leads to their gullibility and also to their strong faiths and human-like behavior.
