Coyote knows how to please the crowd. (of one. Well, two.)
Also, check out those white eye-like symbols on his chest and hind legs. They look like they're staring in Annie's direction. A nice creepy-cool touch.

Fire head girl. I like that. I'll bet he used to call Surma that, too.

Annie sure does seem to be enjoying herself. She's all smiles! I can't decide whether she actually is, or whether she's tying not to freak out. As usual, Coyote manages to be both endearing and nightmare fuel at the same time.

Annie probably recognizes that being too solemn and serious around a trickster is a bad idea; humorless people (like Ysengrin) are their natural targets.

YAY COYOTE! I would have loved to see the conversation that took place between he and Ys before Annie arrived; "...and the moon!" "...She won't be impressed." "You old grump, it worked for her mother."
I also note the distinct difference between Coyote's "greeting hall" and the same scene at the Court (aside from different locales, obviously): The only beings present are Ys, Coyote, and Annie. Quite different from the Headmaster's veritable army of staff.
Coyote's walkin' on water. And his neck-extension is still freaky.

LAUGHING ON LINE. That conversation would've been awesome.
"I'm telling you, she'll just sit there and stare blankly. It'll be an awkward moment for all of us." "Oh, shut up. I'm sure she can appreciate good poetry." "I'm quite certain of that, but can she appreciate self-agrandizing doggeral?" "You did NOT just call it that!" "It doesn't even rhyme!" "It's free verse, you antiquated pedant!" "You and I both know that 'free verse' is just a euphamism for 'I couldn't think of any words that rhyme'." "No, it isn't." "Yes it is." "No it isn't............. All right, it is........... I'm still gonna recite itm though."

The final panel on this page gives a new meaning to the chapter title. Up until now, I assumed that Coyote would be telling the tales - about Gunnerkrigg or Reynardine or whatever he had invited Annie out into the woods to tell her about.
Now, however, it's possible that the tales will be *about* Coyote - a collection of legends (whether actual ones or ones that Tom's invented) - concerning Coyote's doings. Though I don't think that even Coyote is conceited enough to invite Annie to the forest just so that he can hear her recite accounts of his past exploits.

I think Annie is just being nice... I mean Coyote took the time to make his intro, it would have been rude to tell him it was boring, right?

In Panel4 Coyote says its his forest... I thought Ysengrin was the boss from how he was acting the first time we met at Court...
So who is the boss and what is Ysengrin's role of he isn't...?
Confused a bit here..!

I love how Annies personality has slowly transformed over time. In the first couple of chapters, I don't think she would act like this. Mabye she has come to terms with her mothers death, or perhaps it's just contact with other people her age.

I honestly think that Annie really did enjoy Coyote's entrance. It seems to me that she is far more at ease with Etheric Beings than she is with normal people, so she's more comfortable with Coyote and Ysengrin (well, perhaps not Ysengrin, but Coyote at least)

I think Annie is just being nice... I mean Coyote took the time to make his intro, it would have been rude to tell him it was boring, right? Yes, Annie is always polite to pretty much everyone, especially when she's a guest of theirs. But still, I think she's actually having a nice time talking with that walking ego. She made two in one comic! That doesn't happen often. I get the feeling that Coyote would be interesting to visit as long as nobody else feels like being the center of attention at any time.

I hope for Annie's sake that she isn't letting her guard down. We know from Annie's conversation with Muut on the banks of the Annan that she can hold a grudge, so I doubt she's completely forgotten how her last meeting with Coyote went.
Something that occurred to me based off a comment in the shoutbox: Surma used to tell Annie stories about Coyote. So to Annie, he isn't just some god she met several months ago, he's a childhood memory brought to life. A memory with connections to her mum. Maybe that's why she's so happy.

Annie must have gotten a strong mythological education at Good Hope - between her mother and the Guides (all of the Guides whom we've met so far in the webcomic, except probably Kerchak, are actual characters from myth and legend rather than Tom's invention). We know that she was also familiar with the story of Theseus and the Minotaur.
Indeed, we already know that Annie knows one specific story about Coyote: the one about his making the shadow-people. (And we now have a good idea from whom she learned it.)
But I also hope that Annie's remaining wary - especially since I still find something ominous about Coyote giving Annie that invitation *after* he developed a suspicion that she's got something to do with Reynardine's refusal to return to the forest.

It seems people are divided on whether Annie's reaction is sincere. My vote goes to sincere.
But I hope Annie remembers the stories her mother told her and knows to be wary.
Can't wait to hear the fable Annie tells, and what it's moral would be. That's a prediction: Annie's story will be a fable.

I vote 'insincere' although that may not be the right word. I think Annie understands that in order to get information from Coyote, she needs to humour him. And the best way to do that is to go along with his megalomania.

I think she is legitimately entertained. Coyote seems like a fun guy to be around, and very personable.
