Comic up.James is being protective and slightly untrustful of the forest, which is to be expected. And Jones is being snide, which is probably also to be expected.

It's cool that the Court has kid-sized suits of armor.

Man, whenever these 2 are on-screen it's like awkward central.

It's cool that the Court has kid-sized suits of armor. It's also, for some strange reason, not in the least bit surprising to me. Not entirely sure why.

Methinks the armor could have been for creatures of small stature.
I find it funny that Mr E still has not let go of her tie 2 panels in.

I love Annie's expression in the last panel. And I wonder if Jones' comment was meant to be a very dry joke about Egger's former relationship with Surma.

Eggers, youre an idiot! ;D
Heh, I don't actually think a coat of armor would do Annie a lot of good anyway, even if there was need for one.

HE'S WORRIED ABOUT HER! D'awwwwww...
That's cute. I wish my school had miniature suits of armor. As well as an ARMORY filled with BLADED WEAPONRY. Wait...did I just prove Tom's point about swords? Dang.
Also Jones is awesome as usual.
ANGRY FACE ANNIE! Seventh panel is golden. (Return of the avatar makers, anyone?)

Jones is wearing a different outfit than usual. Truth...although it remains to be seen if her ubiquitous skirt is still around. And fcd, your comment about Jones's comment is, I imagine, fairly close to accurate...unless she's talking about herself (first time in 561 posts I've used an emoticon. Yay me!)

Poor James.
In fact, I think he'd do exactly the same thing for a male student. His action is not remotely lecherous, but unconsciously egalitarian.

Maybe she's being snide, but she still has a good point. Most of the time avoiding the appearance of wrongdoing is just as important as avoiding the wrongdoing itself.

I love Eglamore. He's a huge, musclebound heroic knight in shining armour, but the minute he comes into close proximity with someone who resembles Surma, he turns into a bumbling fool.

I think he meant that Jones may have been a student at GC as well(though not one of the Pictured Six, as Tom made clear previously), and thus would know about Eggers 'undressing students' from personal experience.

Huh, I just realized: Annie is frowning at Jones, not James. I don't think so. It's just that the simple faces Tom draws when characters are at a slight distance only really work when the character is facing forward. Imagine that exact same expression pointed towards Egmalore. Not even remotely funny, is it?

Beg to differ: James also has a simplified face, which he clearly turns towards Annie. I think Annie does shift her head slightly; she may be equally annoyed with both grown-ups.

Maybe she's being snide, but she still has a good point. Most of the time avoiding the appearance of wrongdoing is just as important as avoiding the wrongdoing itself. It was just a joke, specifically made to make Eglamore uneasy. I doubt Jones seriously meant that he was undressing Annie, he's just changing her tie! Don't jump to silly, exaggeratingly PC conclusions. Then again, there's a level of potentially awkward closeness in letting someone approach you so close as to change your tie. Perhaps this is where Eglamore's familiarity with Surma comes to the surface. We've already seen that Eglamore has this level of closeness with Jones, and that she likes to tease. She would be the one to recognize and point out something like this, in the form of a humorous and veiled observation. Edit: Also, it's likely that Eglamore just forgot all sense of propriety simply because of being protective. (Also, is there a special hell for nitpickers and over-analyzers of webcomics? I just got a strange shiver through my spine.. brr, cold..)

Maybe she's being snide, but she still has a good point. Most of the time avoiding the appearance of wrongdoing is just as important as avoiding the wrongdoing itself. I know that at least some of the elementary schools around where I live have a total "no touch" policy, mostly from fear of lawsuits. Any physical contact between teacher and student is forbidden. And yes, that means that teachers are not supposed to hug crying children or break up fights between children. Related topic: At one they've upgraded any "angry" touching to fighting which means at least a suspension, but all the old restrictions on Public Display of Affection seem to have collapsed. Go figure. I love Eglamore. He's a huge, musclebound heroic knight in shining armour, but the minute he comes into close proximity with someone who resembles Surma, he turns into a bumbling fool. Indeed! This sort of thing is why the highly-conflicted Mr. Eglamore is and always shall be my favorite GC character.

Oh man, I love Jones. So now Eglamore is acting inappropriately father-like towards Annie. I have a wild theory fomenting that I'll keep to myself for now

I think Annie does shift her head slightly; she may be equally annoyed with both grown-ups. Yeah, I guess you're right. I accept your gracious surrender. Now, if you would please tip your head back to expose your neck.... ...Ahem. So: will Annie take her tie out of James' hands (my bet) or turn towards him and let him finish? He's already got the tie undone, which would take me more than a few seconds of close work. Of course, he may be able to do it in the flick of his wrist. I'm remembering here that Jones has deliberately provoked Annie in the past. I don't think Jones does much by accident.

More akward situations = more stuff to dream about.
Yeah... maybe its just me... *laughs like an overexcited little girl* *cough* *laughs like a madman* Thats better.
Well... uhh... dont you guys think that a suit of armour would be a bit outdated? It is a time of robots and the best they can do is a steel plate? I'd go for the force field, or maybe a ballistc vest...
...What are you people looking at?!?

Let me just be the first (maybe) to say: I'd like to see Annie in that armor.

I'm suprised that Eglamore's involved with the excursion to Gillitie Wood at all; I would have thought that he'd be utterly opposed to it on the grounds that Annie's past visit there had caused enough troubles already (and suspecting - like the rest of us - that Coyote had ulterior motives for his invitation). Maybe Jones talked him into it - or maybe his escorting Coyote back to the forest at the end of Chapter Fourteen had something to do with it.
I'd agree with Annie against the armor. This is supposed to be a diplomatic visit, and martial attire could send the wrong message. (Though I agree with the others here that seeing her in that suit would be kind of fun.)
(In the course of typing the above paragraph, I found myself remembering the scene in the story of David and Goliath where King Saul offers to lend David his armor for the battle with Goliath, and David turns it down. It might be just a coincidence, though.)

Well, the previous excursions by Annie were accidental and hazardous, this one is an official visit following an invitation, so that would make a difference with Eglamore.

That would probably be it.
Why do I get the feeling that there's soon going to be a lot of fan art of Annie in that suit of armor, as almost a younger edition of Joan of Arc or Britomart?
