Nice to see that Annie can take almost being killed in good humor. I wish I went to a school where awesome trenchcoats and hats were standard issue.

Nice to see that Annie can take almost being killed in good humor. Also nice to see that Annie doesn't have a case of reverse stockholm syndrome (or something like that). The part where Rey is a body snatching demon is easy to forget with him generally being pretty nice lately. On a side note, Annie's smug little grin in the last panel is awesome! :]

Tom's comment makes me wonder if perhaps the school encourages this sort of behavior without technically doing so. Or it could be that the school just issues totally bitchin' hats and coats 'cause they're, y'know, awesome.
Two things to discuss; why would Annie be so reluctant to let Rey come? To hide him from the other students? She already loosed him on a crowd of hecklers.
And the other: Who's at the door?!

The hats and trenchcoats. there's something retro cool about them.
It's good that she keeps in perspective that she was nearly killed by rey, and that it wasn't just some sorta awful mistake.

I think that the trip out to the forest will be a different chapter; the title page suggests that this will be taking place at the Court.

I feel that there's some kind of "dead poets society"-ish stuff going on here... instead of a "normal" party. Anyone shares the same feeling?
Edit: On a side note, from Taross at the comment page:
I Find the idea charming, it puts "The mind is just a plaything of the body" in a whole new level. Too bad the idea is probably totally wrong, misaimed and totally not what Tom has in mind.

I think it's a lovely idea. I think it makes sense, and is most likely true. What makes you think it's wrong? Tom's comment makes me wonder if perhaps the school encourages this sort of behavior without technically doing so. Or it could be that the school just issues totally bitchin' hats and coats 'cause they're, y'know, awesome. Perhaps it's foul weather gear?

I find the idea charming, it puts "The mind is just a plaything of the body" in a whole new level. Too bad the idea is probably totally wrong, misaimed and totally not what Tom has in mind. Well, this line did come from Reynardine in the first place and I think it makes sense. I mean, Rey can switch bodies when ever he wants, as long as there are eyes. He can even posses inanimate things (with eyes) and then change their shape as it pleases him. He could be immortal. All this power without a drawback?? Come on, that would be overkill. He HAS to have a weakness. "The mind is just a plaything of the body." I think his mind is literally shaped and influenced by the body he posses. Just as his free will is bound by the contract of ownership with Antimony. And it seems the more time passes, the stronger he changes. Anyway, I agree that Annie shouldn't take Rey with her to the party. He IS a demon possessing a toy, after all. A semi legal party with (fairly) normal students is not a place for him. Although I would love to see how Ray would have a party.

I wonder whether Reynardine's request to serve as a chaperon was motivated by protectiveness or jealousy.
I also wonder whether Annie would need a chaperon to ward off the boys. She's pretty, but her level of weirdness would probably scare most of them off (and many of them just might still be in a "girls have cooties" stage, since they're around 12). They'd better behave themselves like gentlemen, though - if Annie won't put up with fresh behavior from a trickster-god, she certainly won't put up with it from a human boy her age.

I don't think they'd still be at the whole cooties stage. everyone my age broke out of that around 10 at the latest

No, maybe not, then - but I still wonder if Annie's oddball nature might discourage them from wanting to hit on her.

Most guys worry when the girl looks like she sooner dissect you than kiss you.
In a cute hat no less.
I do wonder whether the upcoming boys are gonna be random friends or close friends like how James, Donlan and Anthony were to Surma, Anya and THAT GIRL.

I dont think its literal. Just that our minds base things on looks, on the physical parts of life.
Not realising even crocodile mothers take care of their young. Nope we tend to think of birds in a nest or some such. That the guy in cargo pants going down past his underwear and the skull shirt could be a genius raking in money while the guy beside him in the suit and boot is a miserly, unemployed. wife beater wearing a rental but we're still more likely to put them up as "gang member" and "executive".
He may have been pointing out the fact his image doesnt matter, he's the same reynardine. But that Kat is influenced to see his classy wolf form as good and his toy form as snide. Though he probably takes these forms as per his feelings and mood as well. Feeling more comfortable to perform honorable acts in a majestic form rather than a toy. We all dress up for the occasion to blend in afterall.

Good point. You got me thinking again. ... Oh well, we will just have to wait and hope there is an explanation later in the comic.

(Though it didn't deter Alistair - but then, he was only going to be at the school for a week and didn't have much to lose.) We can safely assume that Winsbury won't try hitting on Annie - if he did, the big question would be whether he'd be in more danger from Annie or from Janet. (Though that would be worth seeing.)

I just got a funny mental image that i want to share. What form would reynardine use while doing chaperon-ing? Why, the Rabid-Lockpick-Claws-Mad-Homicidal-Wolf! THAT Would scare off ill-intended boys.

Tenjen, I hope your genius is not a fashio-genius So many things to discuss, some of 'em 1. Power Station seem to mean they'll be staying indoors... so no forest 2. We just came from lot's of history and background, so this might be kinda of a side-story, perhaps to add more into character development, 'cause you know the boys and all that [most likely wrong, but whatever] 3. I think it depends on what kind of boys there are... we have seen like none of them in depth, with the exception of good old Will... just like there are genius-whiz and medium girls like Kat and Annie, there could be boys along those lines. That'll be all for now, see ya tomorrow

Of course, they're also generally the type who'd be nervous about introducing themselves to any girl, let alone one who brought a minotaur to history class.

If Reynardine really *is* jealous, Annie had better make certain he doesn't find out about Mort's crush on her. Otherwise, we could be in for something along the lines of Reynardine going after the poor little spook with a high-tech etheric vacuum cleaner straight out of "Ghostbusters".

Sorry iam not familiar with the term Fashio-Genius. Could you elaborate? I would guess it means someone who is very fashionable and good at designing clothes to fit the latest fashions and can discern or shape what these are as they wish.
