Who was the creepy butler at the end of the first chapter? The one who brought Annie back into the school?

No, it's a name sometimes used for Stibnite when it's used as a cosmetic. Kohl is another name.

Do you do your own coding for the site, or do you have someone help you?
If you do it yourself, how did you learn how to put up a php page like in the archives? I haven't found a good tutorial anywhere; writing up archives with just html is tedious.

Amazon just informed me that I won't be receiving my book until mid-June, a considerably longer wait than they first told me. Gah! First Starslip, now Gunnerkrigg. What is it with webomic book buying?

Anyways my actual question is: Is this a publisher issue, an amazon issue, karma for my sins or is it just random bad luck?

And yes, "gah" is a word.

Hi Tom,
I've recently started reading your comic and had a couple of questions for you:

1. You seem to have a taste for bizzare/surreal with some of your work. I've seen that you've read Uzumaki and notice some of your art work can be macabre (Titus, The City of Lost Children wallpapers, and some of your previous stuff). I was just curious if you are a big horror fan (I get a Tim Burton vibe from some of your art).

2. Forgive me if this was asked or answered before, but I was curious if you were familiar to Jamie Hewlett (Gorillaz and Tank Girl fame) artwork. He reminds me of your art style and I really enjoy both.

3. This question is a bit out there, I’ve seen you listen to Aphex Twins. I was curious if you’ve seen any of their music videos?

1) I do enjoy a good horror, what I am not a fan of, however, is modern day horror movies. All the Saws and Final Destinations and current movies billed as "horror" tend to be little more than gore porn and, really, if I wanted to watch attractive girls being tortured to death I have the good ol' internet for that.

2) Jaimie Hewlett is one of my all time influences. I've been following his work for a long time before Gorillaz and I thik he is an ace artist. If my work reminds you of his I take that as a compliment.

3) Yeah I've seen a few Aphex Twin videos. Some are a little ropey, some are alright. Big fan of the Rubber Johnny video, for example. His music alone is much better.

Hello Tom

I remember once that you made a thread (I can't find it now) about the chapter that had just finished (at the time) or something. I found it very interesting, only the thread turned a bit bad, which I feel bad about because I think I was a bit jumpy to conclusions-y. So sorry about that. Anyway. The question is, do you think you will ever do that again? Cause I thought it was good. And I felt bad about possibly ruining it.

I really liked that topic. Partially because the insights you gave on that chapter resonated with some things I've lived myself. I moved a lot when young and lost a fair number of friends that way.

Tom, I think you're being somewhat harsh with yourself. Your opinions are, at the very least, just as valuable as everyone else's on this forum, and we joined to hear and share them, in the first place.

Also can he access the thoughts/memories of something he has possessed? Or even allow whomever he has possesed control over their body once more and lay dorment within their body?

Although i do think i may be asking to much plot information in my last few questions.

What you saw when Reynardine left Sivo is all that currently remains of Reynardine. He did have an original body, yes.

He can't access any memories of a body he is in, nor can he allow the original owner control.

That's about all I can say on that, really, but it's the kind of stuff that won't be explored for a while.

Tom, what type of pen do you use for your art, and what would you recommend about pens to someone who is new with pens, like what is the easier type of pen to use? I hope that made sense.

Currently I make the comic digitally, so I don't use pens anymore.
However, when I drew it on paper I would use a Pentel Brush Pen and fineliners. Fineliners are the easiest pens to use and you can even emulate varying line widths if you have the time to draw each line more than once. A brush pen is a good compromise between a self contained pen and a straight up inking brush. You also dont have to wait for it to dry and a good one, like the Pentel, will last a very long time. They are harder to get used to than a fineliner because you have to get used to how the nib moves, but once you get used to it you can produce great lines.

I'm pretty sad to hear that, (I like to hear a lot about people that create stuff that I love) but whatever you feel is best. Reading through a couple of chapters again (I was looking at Annie, I am partway through some fanart! How old are you?

I'm 27, myself and I'm kind of conflicted about the direction of my life. I'm not sure where I'm going and I'm not sure if I should just go with the flow or spend less energy on fun and more on discipline...
Your comic is so wonderful (and some of your posts refer to other obligations and experiences) so I don't want to fall short in comparison *wink*
