Seraph One. Dang, that is fancy.
Yin: It was Iorem Ipsum, from the last thread. Good show, sir.

Is that a rapier or some other kind of sword?
Looks like Robot's new body is going to be a step up from his first one.

Missus, me, but thank you. I've just made myself blurry off looking up alchemical properties of Mercury and Antimony while I was waiting for the site to update (who knew I'd gotten hooked on that two-hours-earlier?) but isn't S1 a site for sore eyes! Fa-a-a-ancy.

Is that a rapier or some other kind of sword? It is indeed a rapier. Whether its supposed to be or not we can only assume ;D

Huh, I remember Robot being stored in a box labelled "Spare #13".

he's the 13th spare of the model called Seraph. Spare would refer to his use and not model as such.

Things not to do: Powering on an autonomous robotic body which is wielding a potentially deadly weapon. Especially when said robotic body can be assumed to house a sentient artificial intelligence. Am I painting black again? ;D

See Annie's conversation with Admin-bot on page 212 and 213.

A thought I just had. Although it would seemingly make sense to transfer Robot's CPU to the S1 version, I wonder whether it would be wiser to leave him in that mouse-robot body. Remember, from the perspective of the robot community at Gunnerkrigg, Robot's a fugitive from the law. The school faculty can't have a much better opinion of him after the bridge incident in Chapter Seven. So it might be safer to have him stored in a small body that Annie and Kat can easily hide from everyone else - the S1 body can't be as easily concealed as the mouse-robot's body.
(Though we might not have as interesting a story if Annie and Kat were to take that approach.)

Oh right. Adminbot recognizes the design as an S-Model.

Yeah, I don't think Robot can go around with that flashy body around the court, but it could be a break from being mice-bot... and he could hang around on "lab" for the mean time... cause I get the felling the girls, or at least Kat is going to spend a lot more time there from now on

I joined this forum today just to say three things: 1. The following comment on today's strip is just too good to allow it to be lost in the aether: does that mean that because robot has no body he's...sans-seraph? Onomah, 18.06.2008, 12:53am # 2. I continue to be very impressed by the strip's incredible continuity and the slow reveal of character and history - after 409 strips, it looks like we're finally going to see why Antimony couldn't find Robot's right arm when she first put him together. 3. I love the strip, and am obviously completely hooked on it now. Thanks.

Hey, I'd totally forgotten about that! Here the arm with the sword is the right arm. Now we have a reason why the right arm was missing then: because it had a sword attached and swords left where anyone could get them poses a ton of potential problems.

That gave me a good laugh when I saw it. Good point about the arm, too! I wonder if these Seraphs have anything to do with fire (given the chapter plate, and that red hilt on the sword...)

Mezzaphor, I bet you'll know: Did we already discuss what happened to Robot's Wings? I noticed in the pages you linked that S13 had smaller wings than the other S models, so I went looking for a later picture to see if that stayed true... and poof -- its wings are gone! Looks like they broke off here... but why? And where did they go? Edit: fixed broken links.

For discussion, I don't know. The closest I know of is the thread for page 225 (the second page you linked to). As for the wings themselves, my first guess is that it's Ysengrin's doing. Keeping in mind that stylized wings are a recurring motif in the comic (besides the S Models, there's Gunnerkrigg's floaty sky thing and the lockpicks on this page), I half suspect that the wings are some kind of symbol of power which would have protected Robot from being possessed if Ysengrin hadn't removed them.

Hm... if they've got any powers, though, I wonder where they went? The court have an arm growing in the garden... I wonder if the forest have two wings affixed to... something?

Hm... if they've got any powers, though, I wonder where they went? The court have an arm growing in the garden... I wonder if the forest have two wings affixed to... something? It has been suggested that if an "angel" gets their wings cut off, they become mortal/human, thus they are susceptible to the same things as humans; illness, sin, death, etc. This of course is not theologically supported, and has only been alluded to in other stories and songs. It may have been that while robot had one arm, he had to give something up to receive his new arm, e.g. wings. I don't know though, I couldn't think of how they'd come off in the first place.

Well, he has them here, but not here, so it would appear that he lost them after getting his new, tasty arm. You can see the wing on the ground, but I would venture to say that they aren't of any value to anyone buy himself, as they are still there when the seed starts to grow. They would seem to be rather symbolic, so losing them may explain what happened. Or maybe it was just a sign of the corruption, spread by the seed, which allowed the shadowman in. As far as the wings coming out, you can see where they exited here. If I had to take a guess, they almost looked like they were ripped out.
