Jones does seem to know a lot about Anthony. One wonders the history of that.

Maybe the Court keeps records on its students. Or maybe Jones met Anthony back when Surma worked for the Court.

Back on Monday's page, they were on the second floor -- see the last panel. (Unless 2F was just a room number?) So them being on a roof is plausible.

And damn, Jones, that is cold.

Wow, Jones is almost out awsoming Coyote here. I wouldn't take her words about Anthony entirely at face value, she did just admit to openly tweaking Annie's nose.

I wonder if Surma/Anthony was a relationship somewhat like a reversed form of Kat/Annie. I can imagine there are more than a few people who comment that "Kat's really nice, but that Annie girl she hangs around with? Cold as ice dude!"

edzepp: I doubt Anthony was that way from the beginning or, if so, either he was good at hiding it or Surma had powerful ulterior motives for her choice.

So Surma was the school's last medium. Since she obviously wasn't able to fulfill that function after she became bedridden (Chapter Sixteen made that all the clearer) and since she became bedridden after giving birth to Annie, twelve years ago, Gunnerkrigg's been without a medium for a long time.

And Surma was also the last person from the Court allowed into Gillitie Wood. I wonder whether that means "allowed by the school" or "allowed by Gillitie's residents". Though that would certainly fit with Coyote knowing so much about her (including that she and Eglamore were a couple at one point - though he must not have found out about her winding up with Anthony - or maybe he knew but pretended not to in order to have a bit of fun with Eglamore, being the trickster that he is).

Jones apparently believes that Anthony's to blame for his disappearance, while Annie blamed it on herself. I think Jones might be closer to the truth, especially since Eglamore mentioned (back in Chapter Seven) Anthony's old habit of disappearing for long periods of time. Maybe he *did* return to that old habit, out of wanderlust or something else, and it isn't Annie's fault after all (though we still don't know for certain yet).

Side-note: Annie (while always pretty) seems especially glamorous in the second panel.

I almost wish you hadn't said that; that remark could encourage fresh speculations that Jones is the mystery girl from the photograph (in spite of everything Tom said to the contrary), since she was standing with Anthony in it.

Well, several things to comment.

I'm not sure if Jones believes that what she said it's true, her intention here is to try to get Annie to lose her center... bringing up powerfull emotions. After all, can't be medium if you start crying/yelling/whatever at any time. She's being cold, because, like she said, she needs to evaluate Annie.

One thing here is that we don't know how close was the relationship bewteen Annie and Anthony, the only two things that we know are that
1. She called him right away after her accident (so she seems to be in good terms with him)
2. She was hoping, alas, confident that he would pick her up after school.
3. She called him dad as a little girl (from the incident with Muut)

So, it looks like she has at least a "polite" relationship with her father; also Anja told Annie that Anthony had made arrangements for Annie to have anything she needed while she was in the Court, so he didn't just left her at GC like that.

And it would be a while until we see Anthony, cause he would likely not be showing his face until Annie finish year 3

Last person allowed in. You always want to pay attention to how sentences are worded. Always.

It's just turn and turn about. Annie opened up by dropping Coyote's advice on not trusting anyone in the Court as an accusation just to see what Jones would make of it. Annie and Jones are sparring to try and take each others' measure. And I get the feeling that in Jones's case it may well be intended as a compliment, since instead of sugarcoating or denying the facts she's decided that Annie's tough enough to test out.
