Aaaahhhhahaha. This is great. If this is the way Annie is telling the story, I can bet Kat is more than a little frustrated.

The silent treatment, eh? Well, we do now know that whatever it is, it's enough to scare a giant cobra. (A giant talking cobra, presumably.) And we'll find out what it is on Monday...probably.

What could it be...?! Tom and Annie teases too much

I also thought the giant cobra's reaction was amusing. Bet Monday shows Annie pressing Kat about the letter again. Then we see what happened once they'd got over the bridge.

So, I assume Antimony is not freaked out by the abnormally large King Cobra consulting with Smitty and has in fact seen something coming through the ether.

Heh. Up there with the best... A good scene, really. By the time we reached the outskirts of the city, one bear had already bolted into the brush, scrambling in the general direction of Anauroch as fast as his paws could take him. The other bear was whining like a whipped kitten, digging his claws into the ground and refusing to move. I had my arms around his neck and was trying to drag him forward when I heard something thunder overhead. A red dragon was roaring out of Myth Drannor, wings beating furiously, its face wrenched in stark terror! I didn't wait to see what was chasing it. - Elminster's Ecologies: Cormanthor

sad snake :< Let's not forget that this has never happened before. The panel transitions cut past those few pages (thankfully), but it did take me a moment to remember that stuff in-between.

Time to place bets? My guess is it's a giant stampede of forest creatures in need for help.

I think what we should be betting on is whether we'll finally get the reveal on Monday or not. My bet is that we cut back to Kat going: "DAMMMIT, ANNIE!" Then Annie explains that as the Forest Medium she is not actually allowed to disclose that particular event to oursiders, but she just wanted to tell the story, anyway.

For shiggles: It seems that tom redrew/simplified at least parts of it on second go-'round.

For shiggles: It seems that tom redrew/simplified at least parts of it on second go-'round. Nice catch! I love that Tom took the time to ink and color that panel twice, even though he could have just copied and pasted most of it.

I know it's a way to show emotion, but snakes don't sweat.

Given that everyone at the bridge and possibly some on the Court side have seen what it is, there's nothing to disclose. I know it's a way to show emotion, but snakes don't sweat. The snake can shake off a few loose scales, however.

I like this page of course, but is it just me, or is the perspective in the last two panels kind of weird? It seems like they're closer to the city in the 5th panel and further away again in the 6th.

I noticed the same thing when I was looking over it, and it took me a little while to figure out why. I think it's because of the height, which changes the field of view. In Panel 5 we're just above Antimony's head, so the buildings off in the distance take up more of the background. In Panel 6, however, we're suddenly at Eglamore's eye level but with a similar angle, which messes with the perspective. (Disclaimer: I am not an artist, have no idea what the hell I'm talking about, and am eating spicy chili)

I suppose it could be Coyote. I'm sure a trickster would disapprove of someone coming into his forest and solving problems, especially if he were the one that set up the shenanigans to start with for his own amusement. I'm voting for a gigantic Mongoose. Or a gigantic Mongoose Dog.
