Somehow I doubt that we'll get a clear answer this week...

Somehow I doubt that we'll get a clear answer this week... I suspect you're right. In that case I should have given the thread the title "And the nominations for Forest Liaison are...".

No matter which is chosen, Emmanuelle Riva is going to be robbed. Robbed I say!
Is anyone else creeped out more than usual, by Coyote's smile? I know the smile hasn't changed, but the post-mindrape heebie jeebies just make him seem like such a Stepford Smiler.

I wonder what Ysengrin is thinking. I mean, Coyote wiped his memory of attacking Annie, so how does he interpret her expression?

And then throughout the court room, the sounds of cheer and dismay echo with the calling of the name. Bets had been made, and some will walk home tonight with many a dollar in the pocket, while others walk without a single cent.
Unbeknownst to most, Jones seems to have won quite a lot of cash.
(also Annie look him in the eyes, he loves you)

Ok... Who else is surprised with Parley's name? George? Was it mentioned before?

My random crazed theory, which may or may not have been postulated by someone else, is that Someone Else receives this position and Coyote announces he's giving up his role as Forest Medium to Annie.

Welp, we know it's not Smitty.

Coyote comparing humans to rabbits is kinda funny, because primates are more closely related to rabbits and rodents than they are to any other group of mammals*.
*: except treeshrews and colugos but, yeah.

That's the second time Coyote's called the Court a rabbit warren. Either he's trying to make a point, or he needs to come up with some fresh lines.

My bet is on Everyone But Annie. That or the new medium is Red.

If the Court does choose someone who wasn't in the medium classes (such as Paz, Kat, Red, Zimmy, etc., which seems to be such a popular speculation here), they should follow it up with an announcement that they are dropping the medium classes permanently; there's no point in having them if someone who never takes one is better qualified than everyone who did take them.

Interestingly in Native American Folklore it mostly is the clever Rabbit that beats/tricks the stupid Coyote.

Does anyone else find it odd that they'd announce their choice to the candidates and introduce him/her to the Forest at the same time? Ysengrin couldn't care less about their little drama - he came to meet the new medium. Coyote might find it mildly amusing at best.

My bet for Annie, and I think what Parley will be very disappointed at this decision.

My bet for Annie, and I think what Parley will be very disappointed at this decision. Nah, Parley would probably be shocked if it turned out to be her. I'm going with "Annie is the new Medium, but Parley's going to be the next Dragon Slayer."

I noticed it in the past couple'a pages, but here it's really prominent: Antimony's hair-tie is really, really long. At first glance it always looks like some kinda big cricket or something, to me.

Has there been any speculation made on the basis of their last names? A "carver" separates. A "smith" mends. "Parley" is derivative of the French "parlez" (and even has its own wikipedia article now that I'm thinking about it - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parley ) Based on this, my money's definitely on Parley, but it would be interesting if the Court decided to appoint all three of them to apply their odd group dynamic to the position. Sorry if this has been addressed before.

The headmaster is Slouchy McSloucherton again, but at least he dressed nicely for the occasion. Love that you guys made a connection between this strip and the impending Oscars this weekend, haha. I'm wondering how deep the wipe went. My brain was confused for a second (and five years old again), reading that out of context, haha. I'm going with "Annie is the new Medium, but Parley's going to be the next Dragon Slayer." I mean, can we assume that Parley and Smitts were kept in the lessons past a certain point so Jones could encourage their talents (and their coupling? I dunno, their talents mesh well), rather than a real chance at either of them becoming Court Medium? And yeah, looking down the road, shaping Parley's talents for a possible next-in-line-ness for Egger's job? They learned a lot about the history of the Court and stuff, stuff that I doubt the other students know.

Parley is totally going to be the new medium. Of the three, she is the most uninfluenced by either side. However, it might jst be that annie and smitty are her counselors, or whatever. Annie is pretty familiar with the ethereal side of things, and smitty's talent of inducing order would make him pretty popular around the court technicians, potentially. In fact, whether or not smitty and annie gain any official capacity, I could see them both spy on their respective faction, and report to Parley, who then makes the medium decision.
That said, Zimmy is the next dragon slayer, obv.
