Well, he IS a canid, just not a dog. Anyways, Renard being a snooping fox, as usual. Looks like she is right on time.

Of course, with Andrew there, we couldn't expect anything other than exactly on time.

Interestingly, Antimony is dressed like Smitty, with a tie, while Parley isn't. I would have thought that the tie was dressing code in GC. Pheraps some rules are relaxed for adult women, Parley maybe is in an age category where she can dress differently. Or there are different "uniforms" since Kat's mom is dressed the same way.

The skirt is also different, I think. Actually, those might be pants. Hm. Also, heh. Hehehe. That last panel is great. She does NOT need heels that high. Jeeze. Don't forget she's a year older and has been taller than him anyway. www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=787

Hehehehe indeed. I humans had a dog's sense of smell, there would truly be no need to gossip about who did what with whom.
Maybe Annie wears men's uniform because she likes it better and that's that.

I would never get use to the BIP, nor take it as calmly, as Annie seems to do. I'd always be doing spit-takes and screaming obscenities. If I were alone in the kitchen, someone might get stabbed. Just saying.

Am I the only one thinking that Parley is going to be appointed medium? Annie seems to have drifted too far to become be impartial.

Am I the only one thinking that Parley is going to be appointed medium? Annie seems to have drifted too far to become be impartial. True, though on the other hand, Parley hasn't shown much interest in the work (at least, not until maybe after she found out about Jeanne); she didn't even feign interest in being a medium when Jones gave her the opportunity to drop the studies, saying that they got her out of class.

Parley's in senior year. They don't have to wear uniform. (Although, on a formal occasion such as whatever this is...)
So they've had a quick good luck hug, Rey. What else are you suggesting? That they swapped blazers?

Am I the only one thinking that Parley is going to be appointed medium? Annie seems to have drifted too far to become be impartial. Annie is vastly more impartial, in that she has friends on both sides of the divide and suspicions about those in power on both sides (Coyote as much if not more so than the court's higher ups). Parley, OTOH, has never seen the forest as anything but a vague threat making rude guestures and has shown no suspicion of the court at all. If Annie doesn't get picked it'll be precisely because she is impartial and the court don't want someone who isn't massively biased towards them.

I suddenly am not sure of the role of the medium anymore. I checked the comic but to little avail. Are they unbiased mediators or basically ambassadors of the court to the forest? The job description makes it sound like the first one, but they are appointed solely by the Court, so that seems quite impractical.

Maybe Annie wears men's uniform because she likes it better and that's that. What are you talking about? Annie wears a girly version of the uniform with skirt and stockings. It's Parley who is wearing trousers. It looks to me like the formal Court uniform (it seems that Donald and Anja are wearing versions of it, too) allows an extent of modifiability based on the wearer's preferences. Parley's choice probably signifies that she wants to be ready to fight at all times with minimal hindrance to her mobility. Am I the only one thinking that Parley is going to be appointed medium? Annie seems to have drifted too far to become be impartial. Annie has the perspective from both worlds, something that Parley mostly lacks. It's also clearly not where her interests lie. Annie has the experience and talent for communicating with ethereal beings, while Parley doesn't even seem to use a blinker stone. I find it pretty likely that Parley will be apprenticed to Eglamore before long, actually. That seems like a job extremely fit for her talents and personality.

The job description makes it sound like the first one, but they are appointed solely by the Court, so that seems quite impractical. They're the latter in practice, I think (see Surma and Renard). But Jones seems to want them to be the former from her description of the role.

She had a very different motivation for THAT comment. Yes, but my point is that even the cover story she invented to hide her real motives didn't pretend to show any interest in being a medium.

Heh, a smirk is worth a thousand grins... Rey didn't need to say a word, yet it's completely unambiguous exactly what's going on. This kind of subtlety is one of the reasons I like Tom's work so much. The girls still have a few years before they're around that age, though, so Rey will hopefully keep this one to himself for now.

Hmm, they're all standing to the side like they did the first time they met. Maybe there'll be an appearance from Coyoters again?
Naming a new medium should be something that interests the forest atleast a little bit.
