Whoa, so he can shapeshift? Awesome. Not too surprising that he kept his shapeshifting abilities from when he was a shadow.

I wonder If the original glass eyed men were shapeshifters as well, before they literally became shadows.

So Shadow is kind of like Meatwad? He can just turn his body into any shape he wants? Also, Kat is going to have a field day when he shows her his bird form. Years later, we will talk about the great Gunnerkrigg page renumbering of 2012. Kind of lame that all the previously archived page discussions on the forum will now be redirecting to the wrong pages... but I guess there isn't much that can be done about that.

I'm worried about Shadow appearing to leave some of himself behind on the pavement.

Yeah, all the old threads are going to point to wrong pages now.
Shadow's become very human in shape. He even looks like he has muscle. I wonder if he'll eventually become fully 3D.

I'm worried about Shadow appearing to leave some of himself behind on the pavement. It's just his shadow. He's had one since he pealed.

I'm worried about Shadow appearing to leave some of himself behind on the pavement. That's a normal shadow though.

That's a neat trick, Shadow2.

Heh, "neat trick" is quite an understatement, isn't it? Now I'm imagining Shadow being all grown up and soaring the sky in the shape of a magnificent black angel, together with Robot in an all new seraph body made by Kat, shiny silver and winged...

I for some reason find myself musing as to whether Kat have seen him doing this.

So Shadow2 is metamorph? Great move, Tom))) Interesting, is that manifestation of Kat's influence on him?) Years later, we will talk about the great Gunnerkrigg page renumbering of 2012. And now the translators of GC have a new source of headache.

Clearly we must all go back an manually edit our own posts! Every single one. My thoughts exactly. Who knew Coyote's blade was sharp enough to cut through the Fourth Wall and cause even this much damage? On a more serious note, I suspect that Tom didn't initially realize the re-indexing, and once it was done it was too late to revert. Given that the forums are such a large and vital part of the Gunnerkrigg ecology, it does make sense to address the problem somehow if possible. One such way that would keep existing forum links functional might be to use a different page URL entirely with this new system, which should be a relatively simple configuration change. Then one could manually create static links in the old URL format which redirect to the correct page in the new format. Doing so would take some brute force work, but we're really only talking about <1200 static links -- not an insurmountable project. (Much of the research work is even done, given that the forum links indicate which numbers go to which pages already, thus showing the occasional previous numbering slip-ups.) I'm sure there are plenty of us OCD forum-goers who would gladly take on this responsibility for Tom if he would like the assistance. The last thing we want to see is a large swath of the forums becoming effectively useless, like the first portion of the forums that are gone for good. If we can help out with this, Tom, let us know. And thanks for working on the site to keep it up and running smoothly, not to mention making the hands-down best web comic ever written! You rock!

Strange thing about this new ability - it's not something shadow creatures do normally - at least anymore. It's a 3-dimensional ability. And our Shadow is the only 3-D shadow.
I wonder how he learned it? In class, by instinct, or did he work at it?

Solitary study means just that.
Oh god, I should really reread the comic at some point. Just waiting for a good chapter for it.

Years later, we will talk about the great Gunnerkrigg page renumbering of 2012. Actually, I think I may have once noticed a page number jump when archive binging, sometime. I don't remember where, though... (A bit of research shows that it happened prior to Page 195, at least.)

There have been a few, but they all happened when the pages were first posted and didn't change subsequently.
