Hey, look! It's Lindsey! So, we can officially say Jones predates human life and beliefs, barring any retro-causality shenanigans.

Oh come on. Now, time travel really seems like the only real option. I doubt she's the trilobite's psychopomp.

What if... humanity arose from Jones' belief?

Wow, that's impressive.
I would never have guessed that they could make robots in the Silurian Period!

And now we know she can't drown.
I think this helps the Mother Earth theory? Also maybe the golem one? :/
I'm thinkin' none of us have quite hit the mark yet.

I'm going with that theory now God or not, Jones appears to be more powerful and more permanent than Coyote. He must seem like an eye-blink to her just like all the rest of humanity. Some thoughts looking back on the chapter: Why does she desire to be near human society? She doesn't eat, so why was she helping those hunter-gatherer types make a kill? If people are always suspicious of her and busting down her doors, why not just go into the wilderness? Why has she taken a liking to Eglamore, after all of this? Why has she formed any relationships at all?

How does she speak then? I'm guessing she does breathe, but doesn't have to.

My question, and I apologise for wearing the Captain Obvious hat, is how come she looks human when humans haven't even been thought of yet?

It's Intelligent Design. She's just observing as it evolves to ... her.

Ok, now this page is just funny. Mainly because her hair is mussed once again.
My two cents: we see her as a human because we choose to. Her real form is Too Much for Us to Comprehend (TM).
Also, smiling fishes are happy.

If she's been stuck there, then this is some pretty good evidence that her hair doesn't grow at any significant rate.

What if... humanity arose from Jones' belief? This. Also I do hope there is a phenomenal plot twist behind this arc. It's looking more and more like Tom is painting himself in a corner, by very good artwork....

I'll be joining the chorus of "Okay, Jones is ancient can we get to the point now?"
I think I'll toss my own wild theory of my own into the ring, she's the personification of the Earth, maybe even THE spirit of the Earth itself.
Also, wouldn't an entity like her leave traces of herself over time? Like footprints?
Next up, either the deep precambrian or all the way back to primordial Earth.

My hypothesis: Jones is from the future and had to come around again the long way like Marvin.

Jones is an alien.
She crashed to Earth millions of years ago (just like the alien colony ship T'leth crashed on what is now the Yucatan Peninsula in 65 million BC) and got stuck in the mud until something released her and she wandered the Earth, observing everything and helping guide humanity up to a sufficient level of technology to enable her to contact her alien masters.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-- Why does she desire to be near human society? I think you can put this one down to interest, plain and simple. She's immortal and impervious to damn near everything, and after watching animals and plants and the movement of the world for many thousands of years, can you imagine how interesting humans would seem? I think another question to add is, why were her eyes closed? Does she sleep? Dream? If I recall correctly, the only other time we've seen her with her eyes closed was when she sparred with Eglamore. I think I'll toss my own wild theory of my own into the ring, she's the personification of the Earth, maybe even THE spirit of the Earth itself. These were basically my thoughts (and shared by many others) with the "Mother Earth/Mother Nature" theory. I still stand by it in comparison to other theories, but I'm honestly not hedging my bets with any theories at the moment...

Of course, the hilarious thing would be if we now cut back to the present and discover that this is all Annie's daydream and she's completely wrong/has been misled by Coyote and Ysengrin.

Just imagine that. You live alone for millions of years and then all of a sudden there are people like you. No wonder Jones has been hanging out with humanity - things finally got interesting.
What if she observed evolution happening over the eons, and one day thought "I wonder if I can shape life in my image." Bam! Humans are a result of Jones' selective breeding.
