Walking naked across a glacier doesn't impress me nearly as much as her ability, despite being so incredibly ancient, to relate to people in the present day. Their lives are mere flickers in her memory, and yet...

SO, perhaps someone with some moderate skill with real or virtual coloured pencils would care to fill in the gaps in today's comic?

It's hard to explain her form frozen in a glacier. Perhaps time travel is an option, after all.

Huh. I guess I had it backwards. Cavemen first, then glacier. Next up, Jones dispassionately watching the Earth coalesce from protoplanetary disk material.

I was expecting a lotta things with today's update....not this.
Well, we knew heat didn't affect her, and now we know that cold doesn't either...so she's immune to/greater than pretty much all non-etheric forces.
I think the real lesson here is that everything was so much prettier without clothes.

I was kinda right... not entirely. But sorta... Except today's page is during the Pleistocene epoch, 2,588,000 to 11,700 years ago, and my quote below says specifically 110k-10k years ago. Do I get a nibble of a cookie? [...] I wonder if the next page will be set during the last glacial period, which occurred 110k-10k years ago. Maybe we'll see Jones freezing her butt off and surrounded by ice and snow, very contrasting to the previous page in the Gobi Desert. (Or maybe Jones is unaffected by excessive heat or cold.) [...]

Too cliche. And Tom somewhere mentioned she's his own creation, and Lilith is too big in some circles. I like how frost affects her eyes. She's not indifferent to the conditions, it's still not harmful for her, but might cause an annoyance (I bet her vision is blurred). Well, we knew heat didn't affect her, and now we know that cold doesn't either...so she's immune to/greater than pretty much all non-etheric forces. Oh, and we missed the times where she could've been not-affected by a spot-on thermonuclear explosion. Oh, well... I think the real lesson here is that everything was so much prettier without clothes. Yup. But also, a lesson that in most climates you wouldn't be able to enjoy it... much.

My comment a few weeks ago about this sequence going back to the Garden of Eden is looking less and less like a joke.
OK, it won't BE the Garden of Eden, because Jones is made up and Gunnerkrigg World Religion doesn't strictly seem to have Christianity and so Jones can't strictly speaking be Eve. But Jones could be the original model in whose image humans were patterned. The original eye of the creator.

What's that? The V-looking thing. I may be over-thinking that it might be something significant, but I cannot unsee it! It's bugging me, hehe. Maybe it's nothing and just the contour of her ab.

Could the Old Man by Odin? Brinnie is a Dannish name and Odin was worshipped by the Danes, and the gate she opened looks like a Valknut Odin's symbol. See, the Valknut is the triangles btw. ...Tom came right out and admitted it. I think if it was already guessable like that, it would be obvious. What's that? The V-looking thing. I think Jones is just completely ripped from traveling the universe for eternity, alone. ;D

That's an interesting thought about what might be in that area - Does she have a belly button? Think of the implications.

Interesting observation, actually. I noticed it, glanced it over, and then dismissed it as just some lines because art and stuff, but... We've never actually seen Jones' midriff before, apart from that time she got poked with a javelin by that jerk templar guy, and that was only a tiny peek at some unharmed skin. Those lines definitely don't really line up with muscles as we know them, and (to me, at least) look something more akin to incisions from srugery. The two lines are too straight, angular, and defined to simply be muscles, as you can compare to last week's page. It also would have been easy for Tom to cover that bit up with frosty wind, or ice, or unmarred skin, yet he very clearly parts the wind in that area and drew those two lines.... ...why?

I'm still thinking living statue though am leaning more and more in favor of her being carved by natural forces, like glacial melt. A meaningful Pygmalion is not impossible, though. Hopefully next jump will be her secret origin story, but her carving may well predate humans by millions of years and she still could've been brought to live by them layering ether on her later, which we might see as a fast-forward. But whatever happens worry not, I'm sure Mr. Siddell wouldn't set everyone up for a troll like this: ;D

It looks most similar to the "Fehu" rune which means wealth. Contextually, it looks like half of the "Algiz" rune which means protection. Take it, flip it horizontally, and attach it to itself, it looks like the "Mannaz" rune which represents mankind. Learn more about the meanings of the Elder Futhark here

This goes well beyond the garden of Eden or any creation myth. Was she dropped on the Earth from somewhere else? Has she been around since the creation of the Universe? Is she a time traveller, or is, in fact, time itself a loop where she exists in any given moment?
In any case, I love this.

Huh, I thought everything within eyeshot of the ice sheet should be dry steppe - at best. Any paleoclimatologists here? ;D Now I'm torn, I'm not sure if I want the Friday page to be the long-awaited Origins of Jones or pretty pics of her running with the dinosaurs

Right? The more I look, the more it puzzles me. :p And if you notice, there's a faint line from the point (of the V-shape) that trails down to her belly button, creating a Y. I'm not seeing anything else other than windy lines (even when I bumped up the contrast), but that doesn't mean it's not there. Hopefully next jump will be her secret origin story, And how long have we been saying that, now? :P It looks most similar to the "Fehu" rune which means wealth. ... I strongly doubt it's a rune of any sort, given how far back we are now. Draw any couple of lines together on a sheet of paper randomly and there'll be connections to some sort of letters or symbols somewhere. Well, I'm giving up making predictions I think that's a pretty safe bet. >.>

Hmmm... at least this seems to nail down why Jones would seem to contradict Coyote's Great Secret. She is way older than humanity, so humans can't be the original source of everything less-than-mundane - or that's what Annie thought.

Based on a glacial ice map from the linked wikipedia article on the epoch, I'd picture her in North America somewhere, looking out over an edge of the ice. But honestly, no idea.
