WhaaaaaI know the theory's been shot down by Tom, but she really does look a lot like Jeanne.

Whoops, simultaneous posts. Got to delete mine, I suppose.
Are those Rogat Orjaks I spot in the last panel? A mother and a child?

So we've finally reached the "years ago" and unless there's going to be a "centuries ago" or something in style I think is as far as we get regarding flashbacks.
Also, why aren't the corners rounded?
Edit: bad quoting.[/size]

3 flashbacks in a row? Hm...

Definitely Rogat Orjaks.
Man, did that guy who Tom always points out get it on with Jones during his frequent training? Is that why he and Surma broke up? I thought we were just going to get the dirt on Jones this chapter. It would be awesome if we got hints to the bizarre social history of Gunnerkrigg's adults.

Years, but how many? I'd guess ten or so, maybe fifteen at the most. Eglamore looks younger. Jones looks...the same? ish? I can't decide if she looks physically younger or not.

A flashback within a flashback within a flashback.

Perhaps the body The Wandering Eye now inhabits was once Jim's girl. She definitely looks younger.

It almost looks like Jones is doing something somewhat resembling the idea of a smile in that second panel.

Where are they?
What place had fields of grass and no trees or buildings? (and Dragons?)

So. Does Jones look just a little bit younger here, or not at all? Maybe it feels like that because this is the first time she looks... informal? (yeah, even the previous page was comparatively formal. Must have been the hairstyle.) (unless it was already established somewhere that she does age normally and I totally missed that; no, the reference in "Ties" does not establish anything ) Maybe the purpose of these flashbacks is to hammer this point into us before the big reveal: whatever Jones turns out to be, she is also a person, and for many (most?) intents and purposes human. Maybe that's why she sticks with the Court (haven't seen many humans on the forest side, have we).

Also, why aren't the corners rounded? I think because it's shown out of order. I can't check right now, but the chapter with Zimmy and the Tic-toc, waiting for the rain - that was all out of order, with a timestamp on each panel, and I believe it didn't have rounded corners. ...or it's just Tom's license to be inconsistent if he feels it works better!

For me they are on Young's farm or somewhere near the farm. And I wonder where Eglamore has injured so much. Perhaps fight with Reynardine or Ysengrin? For me Jones doesn't look younger. Perhaps it is just hairstyle which get her looking younger.

Jones looks the same because she is a robot! ...Joking. Only joking. Hehehe. But yes, Eglamore does look younger. Anyone note the green shirt Jones is holding? Is it Eglamore's and Jones is there to give it to him? Or is it hers? Or someone else's? It's a small shirt that probably wouldn't fit Eglamore. It appears in the first and second panel, but not in the third.

His appearance is quite similar to that in Reynardine, if you take the shoulder bandage and the fact one of those Rogat Orjaks might be Sivo...

Yeah, that's true. I suppose the fact that amidst this picturesque scene, with draconic creatures wheeling in the background and a shirtless hunk next to her, the best she can summon is a little tightness in her lips points to her always being emotionally blunted. She's like a poster girl for lithium.

We have no idea of context, no clue as to what this might be following. If we but knew. they might be on the edge of tears mourning the death of a dear friend. Nice to see this forum is as handy at jumping to conclusions as ever...

So Joneslamore ("Jones l'amore!") has been a thing for a while. And Jones is capable of changing her hairstyle.
It's a cute scene but I reaaaaaaaallly hope we actually learn the truth about Jones in this chapter so we can go on to obsessing about one of the other hundred mysteries of Gunner's Crag.

Aren't those dragons flying in the last panel. He is the dragon killer, after all. Why would he be smiling if he just failed to kill a couple of dragons? Anyway, as he said in an early chapter, dragons don't need much slaying these days. The "dragon slayers" seem to be more inclined to be buddies with the remaining dragons, taking into account what we know about the Rogat Orjaks. Likewise, I doubt that Reynardine fight just happened. Eglamore wouldn't look that happy about that, either. Maybe he just had a vigorous sparring match with Jones?

Registered to post my prediction of Wednesday's update <pic> That body looks remarkably like a certain Akira Satou. Also, I called it. We all called it. Progressively more ancient flashbacks ahoy!

Wow. Just...
I guess it's pretty typical for Tom to make us think he will cut right to the chase, but then divert the story completely. I just hope we really do get some answers this chapter, even if they will only raise further questions.

Jones is a clone of Jeanne? Or possibly her creepy sister. Or this is all misdirection and she's Cthulhu.

Ooh ooh, I got it! The body Wandering Eye inhabits is a body that Renard almost killed once, and to keep it alive, she took it. Nah.. that doesn't make any sense at all. The most they ever mentioned was that Renard "killed that young man". If there had been others, they would have pluralized "those young people".
So, if Jones and Eggers are so intimate, why were they so estranged when Annie first started learning with the other potential mediums, and Jones mentions that he's let his hair grow out longer? Not to mention that Eglamore had wanted her in their school photo in the flashback of Annie's/Kat's parents in school together. So at some point, maybe she did look younger..
