LAUGHING ON LINE hnau.
But yeah, Tom had better answer this one with a straight answer and not something really cryptic.
My guess is that she is a construct (NOT a golem) created by something, and that she was a kid once, I think.

She could also be some kind of etheric creature-human hybrid or the result of some kind of etheric genetic engineering experiment.

Intresting starting. I bit wonder doesn't Jones close her door ever?

Look at panel 3, she is definetly opening the door and the panel before, she was approaching a closed door.

Hrm... Impartial. Beyond normal human capabilities.... Wandering eye. Likely a representation of this, I think: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_of_Ra"The Eye's violent aspect defends Ra against the agents of disorder that threaten his rule." An interesting line to consider. Jones acts as impartial mediator to both parties for no seeming gain which makes me think she has a likely interest in keeping order for a possible master. Perhaps she has finally gotten away and hidden herself nicely in the Court, working against Chaos...

I have no idea why this is Annie's first question to Jones after the Ysengrim situation.
Well, except for giving Tom a chance to troll the audience again with "Not a robot". (And again by non-answering it, unless we get to be raptured by actually getting an answer!)

She seems to have a role that is something like a counselor and so, she could have an open door policy, so to speak. Or she doesn't bother to lock her door when she's in her office. Or she simply sees no reason to lock her door.

"Not a robot." really just made my day. Aye. Love it. What for? Good, but i expect something more stupefying. Though this in itself may mean that we'll get a straight answer instead. Next page: "And then Jones explained what she was, and I had no more questions on that matter". Yes, but by now we half-expect this, so...

Oh man. When the chapter ended after Annie said she was gonna go speak to Jones, the last thing I expected was for the next chapter to pick up right there.
And damn. "What are you?" I'm so glad this page came out on a Monday. I'm eager to see how Jones answers, or doesn't answer, or how the comic avoids us seeing the answer. Either way it's bound to be interesting.

*Jones explains what she is, which we were not expecting* I don't think anyone expects Tom to give the answer in this chapter. Maybe she's a stone, or tells a story about a stone.
