A Coyote's Tooth. Updated (I forgot the red thing but then I added it): Meet my nobody's friend, Boxbot.

Cool!
ETA: You might want to consider shrinking down the images. Right now it breaks the table borders.

Ooh, this is excellent!
Makes me want to rush out to the woodshed and make my own right now...

Most important question: Does it also laugh when you hold it up to your ear? ;D

I assume it's made entirely from wood? Did you use wood-glue to put the hilt, the tang and the handle together, or was it all one block to begin with? The blade was laser-cut from acrylic. The blade has a small rectangular tab-like protrusion at the base, which fits into a slot in the hilt. The blade was glued into the slot with epoxy putty. The hilt and handle were cut from separate blocks of wood. The handle is connected to the hilt by a wooden dowel, which fits into corresponding holes on the hilt and the handle. The fit between the hilt and handle was not perfect; the gap was filled in by epoxy putty, gluing the two pieces together. If you wish to make one yourself, I can provide more details on the fabrication, dimensions, etc. Most important question: Does it also laugh when you hold it up to your ear? ;D I was actually thinking about embedding a sound circuit in it, but I decided it was too difficult to make it small enough. That being said, it doesn't seem impossible. Something like this may work. But my Coyote's Tooth is already finished; I leave that particular project to someone else.

All right, sent you a pm.
I forgot to add the red things on the side. I will rectify this situation at some point and update this post.

I'm not sure that it would be of much use. I haven't taken pictures of the intermediate parts, and I'm by no means a good carpenter; though I made the sword a certain way, in hindsight I see that some of the steps were bad. If I were to advise someone else on how to make a Coyote's Tooth, the only advice I could really offer would be "Saw out the general shapes, and then sand it until it looks correct I guess?"
For the work that I'd have to put into a nice and polished tutorial, and with the comparatively small demand for Gunnerkrigg-related stuff, I don't think it'd help people that much.

Could not a pre-existing prop sword guide be used (with the guy making adapting things for themselves) instead of having to write a brand new?

I added the red thingy a little while ago, though I never bothered to take a picture and I don't have a camera with me.
Well, I had fun making it, but I am no longer actively deriving very much enjoyment from the Coyote's Tooth (which is fairly self-evident: if the world worked that way, I could make Coyote's Teeth all day and then be locked in blissful euphoria for the rest of my life, Dwarf-Fortress-"Urist has admired a golden statue lately"-style). I think the time may have come for me to pass it on to someone else who would enjoy it.
The only question is, how can I give it to someone? I don't wish to sell it - that seems gross. A lottery seems kind of pointless somehow.
Perhaps I could give it to someone suitably deserving, e.g. whoever's running the Gunnerkrigg Fan Project (once it's finished), but that won't be done for a while at least.
Or perhaps Tom might want it - though I'm not sure how comfortable he'd be with the prospect of giving some Internet stranger some sort of mailing information.
I could also give it to a friend, I suppose. Or I can just keep it and swing it around every once in a while.
What do you guys think? If you can think of something sufficiently interesting for me to do with the Coyote's Tooth, I'd be happy to part with it.

If you can think of something sufficiently interesting for me to do with the Coyote's Tooth, I'd be happy to part with it. You should use it in the world's strangest bank robbery. You should send it to my distant cousin Raoul, so he can take it to Haiti and use it to banish spirits. No wait... you should tie it to a rocket, and tie that rocket to a weather balloon, and send the whole thing into orbit! Or give it to Goodwill... If I ever manage to finish mine, I'll send it to you and then you can dual wield them whilst screaming like a banshee. I pretty much ruined my first hilt yesterday, though. I was adjusting it to fit the hand-guard and pretty soon I had lopped more than 270 degrees off. I needed to start over on that one anyway, it was way too small.

I think you should email Tom and see if he wants it, that would be pretty cool I'd imagine. C:
As to your address concerns, maybe he has a P.O. box or something similar?

That is so awesome! Did you end up giving it away to Tom or someone else? Or do you still have it?

I thought about posting on his Formspring since I believe he checks that fairly regularly, but in the end I decided to give it to a good friend of mine. It's still in my possession at the moment. That reminds me, I should post the updated picture with the red thingy. Thank you for the mirrors, pagophilus. I'll update the first post with those. Also terrible.
