Another Friday comes and goes, and we still haven't the foggiest idea what is going on. While I have enjoyed the art thus far, I will be somewhat relieved when this roller coaster ride of a chapter comes to its conclusion. At least she has her fight back, whatever that means. Unhinged insanity status: _ Not told _ Told _ Told man jenkins _ A told wind blows _ Knights of the told republic X No country for told men

The chapter is ending next week. And we will have never been told what that pigeon means.

Well, it seems we're about to reach a point of explanation (why would I say that).

I've always known that the best way to help a friend is to yell insults at them.
Of course.

Alright, so.....anybody else finding today's page hilarious?
Poor Zimmy though. Thank goodness she's in hospital already.

Oh yeah, I guess Zimmy wouldn't know that Coyote taught Antimony how to move stuff with her mind. Until now.

Zimmy was taken aback by the "deranged psychopath" comment, but she's still trying to help Annie, and she is even happy when Annie fights back, because it is a good sign.
A+ Zimmyzims.

You know, Zimmy seems genuinely flustered in the second panel. That has to be a first. Aw Zimmers, you do care after all...

I have a feeling that Annie has a lot of things that she prefers to be kept secret from others. Once Zimmy uncovered most of them, Annie's inner-psyche started to freak and thus reacted towards the outwards interference. I can only imagine that once she wakes again, she will wonder why everyone is worried and why she's in a hospital room.
Also, I think that bird is Kat's pigeon that she saved.

That grin on Zimmy's face as Annie puts her into a headlock is priceless.

Unless I'm mistaken, we have yet to discover what landed her there in that bed in the first place. It will be interesting to see what Zimmy chooses to keep a secret. My guess is she will respect Antimony's privacy and withhold everything. Still, Kat had to have heard her verbal exasperation over Annie's "million boyfriends". I bet that is screwing with her head right now. Welcome to the forum, BTW.

Welcome to the forum, Weeaboo! I think you are pretty much on-target. Also, to change subjects slightly, the transition in panel 6 and the no-headpigeon and clatter in panel 7 makes me think I was probably right about Zimmy (and Gamma) being there in reality but I am withholding judgment a little longer just in case.

I wonder if we are actually expecting to be explained by other means than being shown the outcome of this situation. How has Tom explained anything in the past?

Thank you.
I'd like to believe that the recent events are taking a toll on her. Or maybe it really is her father trying to do something to her. Maybe he's trying to tear her soul apart from the flame within her, as if he thinks that maybe he can bring back his Surma. Ever since Annie was born, he knew that Surma would leave and even then he was trying to figure a way for Surma and Annie to live. Once he found that only Annie would live and Surma would have to die, I think he began to feel hate towards Annie. He blames her for everything that has happened to him and he only wishes for the love of his life to return. It's a noble thing, to try and get his love back, but he should really look at the bigger picture and see that his wife lives on in his daughter.
Too bad he's a bit too thick in the head I guess.

Wuh- Did she just etherically lob real Zimmers across the room? Annie's been excersizing those spirit muscles! Also, judging by her reaction to a simple "Yer dad's a jerk!" I do think the earlier speculation that she'll be unhappy with Zimmy punching her dad is going to be spot on

Hmm...Annie's mask is cracking. It seems that we've gone from surface dreams to deep subconscious to memories. I'm starting to wonder if we've been overinterpreting the reasons behind her coma? It could be something she's doing to herself. She might have accidentally closed herself off ethereally (trying to reach Anthony in the sky?), and now has to be led back to herself.
In short, what if the "bones" actually left from the fire elemental's heart, rather than going in?
Just wild speculation, but it feels like everything else we've been assuming earlier hasn't quite fit to the situation.

The chapter is ending next week. And we will have never been told what that pigeon means. Maybe next week, the pigeon will wake up in her nest, say "It was all just a dream", and shrug at the audience with a sad trombone playing in the background. I doubt it, but...

Anthony in the Sky with Diamonds ;D Her "dream self" does seem to be the exact same she is in the ether (since she can affect the real world), except unconcious so I think you're right that she just sort of got trapped out. I'm also partial that she might've accidentally done it herself rather than it being some malicious intent from her dad. I'm not willing to give up on the blinker stone theory yet!

That's what a demonic possession would look like (to Kat, at least). Now I'm imagining Annie spitting creamed spinach and Zimmy dressed as a priest.

So I think I'm right about about that mask being an emotional mask for when Annie closes up or does something bad? Like homework stealing or calling someone a deranged psychopath. It did break when she got angry, which might be a good thing, its not good to keep it all bottled up.

Well, I can't hide in the shadows forever, might as well make myself known. Hello folks, been reading Tom's comics for aaages now, and this chapter has forced me to join in the fandom.
I love just how screwy these past few pages have been, and I can't wait to see where this is going. I also love the number of fan theories going around right now. I kinda hope some of them turn out to be what actually happens, but knowing Tom's track record, all of us may be wrong.
Overall, I like this chapter just for the copious amounts of creepy!Zimmy, and I'm enjoying this little adventure into Annie's psyche

Zimmy was taken aback by the "deranged psychopath" comment, but she's still trying to help Annie, and she is even happy when Annie fights back, because it is a good sign. Eh, she probably thinks it's better than standing there and hugging Nobodies. And unless it ends with broken neck or something, she's right. That grin on Zimmy's face as Annie puts her into a headlock is priceless. Well, of course she enjoys it. See any Nobodies or furniture in 4th panel? Annie put enough of her presence in there to obliterate the whole madscape along with them. Maybe "success!" means it was the idea - get Annie to stir and remove the irritant altogether? Something tells me she didn't expect to become a projectile, though. Or maybe it really is her father trying to do something to her. Maybe he's trying to tear her soul apart from the flame within her [...] That's... an original theory. Too bad he's a bit too thick in the head I guess. Well, yeah. Did she just etherically lob real Zimmers across the room? Annie's been excersizing those spirit muscles! Little by little. First laptop tipping, then laser cow tipping... ;D Also, judging by her reaction to a simple "Yer dad's a jerk!" I do think the earlier speculation that she'll be unhappy with Zimmy punching her dad is going to be spot on If she remembers it immediately. Now that Zimmy knows what Annie can do over this when asleep - hopefully, she got enough of a clue to be more careful with waking Annie. Her "dream self" does seem to be the exact same she is in the ether Nope, long hair, but no scar. ...unless it ran away ...and the Court now have a vampiric facescar flying around.

The chapter is ending next week. How do we know? Probably from comparing the lengths of the previous chapters to this one. It seems unlikely that there'd be more than three more pages to this chapter.

Oh yeah, I already managed to forget about that ;D The hell is up with that thing, it didn't return when the bonespikes were destroyed at least. Maybe it's still wandering the dark alleys of Zimmingham, in search of... cheeks.

I see that Annie and Renard are still not moving in the last panel, but Kat is, so while we've disposed of the Nobodies we haven't resolved the situation.
Now that the mask is cracked, perhaps the dream will end. Monday, she'll do a yawn-and-stretch and open her eyes. Maybe.
