Serious Gamma is serious.Suddenly, Zimmy's shirt is white and collared when Gamma touches her. Significance? Why would she think of herself as wearing different clothing? Hm. Edit: Man, where's Max?

This is tense! Only 2 pages in, and this is already an awesome chapter!

^ I didnt notice that with the clothes until you mentioned it.
Maybe because she usually wanders around the area that she used to live before going to Gunnerkrigg in her hallucination/things, so she could be usually wearing the clothes she wore from back then too? (rather than school uniform)

That makes perfect sense.
Edit: Although, I thought Tom said at one point that the circle on her shirt (both shirts on this page) is the GC seal, though I may be blurring that with the GC seal that they had on their coats in the sneaking-out chapter.

hmm yes I did not notice that about the shirt seal (nor know what the seal looks like...I think...although I've probably seen it somewhere!). I guess it could be nothing more than a way to show how Gamma helps Zimmy get a grasp on reality. Gamma powers!
Gunnerkrigg seal shirts. In real life. Would be a cool thing to have exist.

Zimmy looks so defeated in Panel 5 We have seen the change of clothing before when Zimmy is touched while in her 'domain'. Cant find a example right now. Others have mentioned the supernatural connection between Zimmy and Gamma by lines going between their heads. Seen here, for example: www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=469 in panel 1 and 7. Note there are no lines there at the moment. Maybe Gamma is withholding her power? Or maybe that's not Gamma? I think it is gamma because of the mind-talk.

I don't recall Tom ever saying that. He did say that the circles were significant somehow.

Zimmy says the "I -- I don't wanna!" aloud. And jeez, Gamma is scary here.

Are... are they talking about Annie? What with the scar on the previous page and all... But why would Annie need Zimmy's help? Perhaps they know more about the scar than we do? They're more familiar with the hellish side of the ether than anyone, they know of the dangers. This ain't playtime with the fairies and woodland boys anymore

I asked him once if the white circular badge Zimmy wore was a reference to Grant Morrison's The Invisibles: He said it wasn't...

I had figured Zimmy might have something to do with Jeanne. Unless I'm wrong and "her" is not her. Then... Then I will enjoy the chapter anyway.

The same thing happened in Power Station. She's wearing her white shirt, and it turns blue when she goes into her world. www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=459Also, Zimmy's hair has red tones now, and with the scar from last page it seems like Annie has something to do with this.

I wonder what happens when Zimmy and/or Gamma go to Zimmingham... How do time pass when they are in Zimmingham? Do they perceive it as if hours pass but just a few seconds fly by in the real world? In a way that sounds logical since no one else seem to notice that anything strange happens. www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=470Are their bodies there as well or do they just go there in there minds? I guess people around them would have do notice them disappear if they did... If they don't return so fast that the human eye never noticed that they were wrong. heh, maybe I should write in the wild speculation-thread instead.

Poor Zimmy, it's like being in a nightmare world except that it can become real. If she were to lose it completely could she actually change reality? Glad that Gamma is being strict, they do owe Annie for helping them before.

She looks good with red highlights, though. Less "creepy girl" more "friendly neighborhood demonoziac". She should keep them!

But why would the scar transfer to Zimmy? I mean, as she said herself, it's not hers. Unless this is like the last time, where Zimmy was really Antimony.

I remember at one point during Spring Heeled part two getting so confused an frustrated that I just decided to stop any further speculation (at least any serious speculation) until the end of that story arc. This time I think I'll just take that approach from the beginning ;D

It seems Annie and Zimmy are mixed up again. I'm pretty sure this IS Zimmy, if just because of the way she tore off the scar, and also her reluctance to help whoever (pretty sure it's Annie). I'd say that the mixup they had in "Power Station" messed with their minds somehow, and now Annie is in trouble. Gamma insists they help, but Zimmy doesn't want to, for whatever reason.
I wonder if Jack will show up at all.

i'm predicting that it's going to be Surma that needs Gamma's help! as a wild guess + the title chapter is Divine

Jeanne gave the cut, so it may symbolize need to help Jeanne.
On "Divine", there is one boy who now thinks he is in love with her, so possible he joins in the adventure. Zimmy may have never had a boy like her (probably scared them all away), and Jack with his mix of Annie and Kat type abillities may be able to impress her.

(If Jack did like Zimmy strongly he may also have glowing heart that gets reaction from Jeanne. Jeanne feels like a sort of end boss quest, possible it takes the full team to solve her problem)

I think it's Jeanne who needs her help. Or needs help anyhow. We've already seen that Zimmy and Annie can somehow occupy the same sort of position in the spirit realm, and Jeanne gave Annie that scar. I think that Jeanne is reaching out for help to the girl who she gave that scar to and is finding Zimmy's spirit presence and assigning her that identity. Which, naturally, Zimmy is going to resist. That would also explain the red highlights.
And really, Tom? "Gamma gams?" With a comment like that, I was expecting some Gamma pin-up art. Way to disappoint. ;-P

It might just be me, but for some reason that shade of red doesn't really look like the tint Annie's hair is at.

It might just be me, but for some reason that shade of red doesn't really look like the tint Annie's hair is at. No, it's closer to the shade of red of her cut. ("Their" cut, perhaps?) In other words, blood. This should be interesting.

It might just be me, but for some reason that shade of red doesn't really look like the tint Annie's hair is at. Annie's hair is of a much richer red in the ether than her natural hair color. (At least in later chapters. That might either be due to the development of Annie's etheric abilities, or due to changes in Tom's Art style.) Zimmy's seems to match that hue pretty well, only without the brighter highlights.

And really, Tom? "Gamma gams?" If her nickname was Gee, someone might think she was calling her a horse. But yes, this is most likely to do with healing both the scars caused by Jeanne and Jeanne herself. The latter though can only be disarmed if her lingering hatred is nullified. They will have to find something which will encourage this. If her hate lives on, the question remains of what happened to her other emotions. In they do in fact persist (if only faintly), I expect a search for her 'love' or something like that.

The real question is; why Gamma gams when Gamma's legs are not in evidence?
One of them must be Gamma's legs.
