Okay, I'll bite. Why break into a medical supply room to get some surgical blades?
Also, it is good to see that Annie is starting to understand her father a bit better, and maybe start to see how similar he is to her.

Looks like Annie has a jar of something as well, so it's not JUST the surgical blades.

I hope Mr. Donlan has enough moral fiber, the potential for misuse of a portable hole in a coed boarding school of all places... wait, did he just use it for stealing? Thanks Coyote that this is not manga! Or maybe that's why they have the upper-class girls dorms in a place where a hole may be catastrophic, chaperoned by a big-ass crab.

I feel like in this chapter the comic has taken on a whole new tone. It's great.

Why they are breaking into this magazine? Why it is better than using it in a standard way? (as employee of the court)

Why they are breaking into this magazine? Why it is better than using it in a standard way? (as employee of the court) One guess could be that Mr. Donlan, as a teacher, isn't cleared for access to the medical facilities. Another would be that the thing they're using the supplies for might not be approved upon by the court. So by sneaking they can get what they need without it leading back to them.

Yeah, she sure monitors every use of her etheric pc, and would kick his ass with the print of Portable_Hole.log.

Most likely Tony has found a surgical procedure to extirpate Annie's fire glands.
It's all in the message, and not half as difficult as Tony thought it would be, sometimes the simplest solutions are the best solutions. Furthermore, anyone can perform it, he will only have to monitor the intervention via satellite.

I don't understand, why they are in need medical supplies. I don't think anyone does at this point - well, except Tom. I like how casual they seem about this break in. Donald even having his hands in his pockets in panel 3

Maybe Tony is in some kind of medical trouble and needs some under the radar surgical help? He wouldn't contact Annie unless he really had to. Or perhaps he has found a surgery that would save Annie from the same fate as her mother - but I think this is less likely because why the secrecy?

this door within a door, such a cute detail. I wonder how else can that thing work. Like doors through the water or something.

Have we discovered the Gunnerkrigg Court equivalent to "Messrs Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs"?

Donald even having his hands in his pockets in panel 3 Well, that's the best way to walk away from a break in isn't it? Like nothing special just happened. And form Annie's point of view, nothing special did happen. She's been breaking into medical supply rooms for years.

Yea, thats what I was thinking as well, maybe he needs medical help somehow? Niether Donnie or Annie are exactly trained in medicine (even though Annie did grow up in a hospital and probably knows a few things about it), so....... The surgical blades could have other uses though that don't involve cutting into someone. What those jars are is a mystery though.......

Most likely Tony has found a surgical procedure to extirpate Annie's fire glands. But... to extirpate Annie's fire glands one most likely would have to extirpate Annie's fire glands first. What with all this fire. And the fundamental problem with this idea remains. Because Anthony seems to be messed up, but not too much to be aware of exactly how much he is messed up and simply leaping over it would be downright nutty. It's all in the message, and not half as difficult as Tony thought it would be, sometimes the simplest solutions are the best solutions. Furthermore, anyone can perform it, he will only have to monitor the intervention via satellite. With a dedicated satellite connection and the Court's hardware? Why not to do it remotely?

It's not like it'll be difficult. It's only rocket surgery.

I imagine Annie isn't morally offended, just surprised that someone as by-the-books as her father would be friends with someone who could break the rules so casually.

I think Annie's more wondering what they need the stuff for than anything else. That and being distracted about learning her father's name....

She didn't break into medical supply rooms for years... ^_^ What those jars are is a mystery though....... That's... ether! Panel 7: Ann contemplates swiping strong painkillers while Doland has his back turned She probably already learned from 'Grin that cheap solutions won't help and she got to face it all.

Have we discovered the Gunnerkrigg Court equivalent to "Messrs Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs"? ;D I remember somebody nicknaming that older generation "the Marauders" as early as "Ties". And, given all the times that people have compared "Gunnerkrigg Court" to "Harry Potter", it was inevitable. (Tom said once that he'd have probably made the webcomic a lot different if he'd read the Harry Potter series before coming up with "Gunnerkrigg Court".)
