It's easy to see why the court doesn't like them if this is normal behavior for forest dwellers.

What a completely unexpected yet perfectly sensible development.
I like how the teacher cheers along.

With friends like these, who needs enemies?
No seriously, if Red and Blue are considered GOOD friends of each other that what are fairy bullies like?

Seriously, how can someone that annoying be so very adorable and hilarious at the same time!
And yeah, the teacher cheering along is just par for the course. That's what I meant when I wondered why Blue bothered to wake her before "summoning" the Shoggy a few pages ago. Guess she just wanted a larger audience.

Poor Ysengrin ... if this is what he has to put up with no wonder he is such a sourpuss.

For some reason today's comic reminds me of some uncouth fanart I did a really long time ago. I wonder what happens with etheric bumps and bruises. I think it was established in Formspring that Jeanne would've killed Antimony if Jeanne ran Antimony's etheric form through, but the cut on her cheek doesn't appear to be slowing her down. Most people don't even bother to mention it when they see it.

Red's face in the second panel explains it so well to me; yes, she is indeed trying to get a rise out of blue. All I can think of is how much this is like animal cubs teasing each other relentlessly and fighting with each other over nothing in particular. Also, I really enjoy the fact that despite Red getting her name, ranking up the ladder and supposedly being the more grown up of the two now, she's still acting very immature and blue's much more even in her temper, fits of jealousy notwithstanding. With friends like these, who needs enemies? No seriously, if Red and Blue are considered GOOD friends of each other that what are fairy bullies like? Have you ever read old fairy -or folktales where someone pisses them off? I remember a story about a household that borrowed a large kettle from the fair folk when they were making sausages or some other deal, and gave it back filled with sample goods as repayment. This went well until they got a maid that drank herself senseless and ate all the nice food. The fairies didn't like this turn of events, so they woke her up in the middle of the night and danced with her until her legs were ground down to stumps. Happy times. I have no idea what level of benevolence Tom has in mind for the fairies of GC, but they don't seem to reason like humans do, and there seems to have been a good reason for the court to be wary of the forest.

As always with ex-fairies - faces. Those faces. My first articulate (it's important) reaction was the opposite: "the mystery revealed!" Red's face in the second panel explains it so well to me; yes, she is indeed trying to get a rise out of blue. Maybe not just out of the blue, though. ;D But yeah, it looks like using any pretext to the same end. I have no idea what level of benevolence Tom has in mind for the fairies of GC, but they don't seem to reason like humans do, and there seems to have been a good reason for the court to be wary of the forest. Those? Fairly nice - well, mostly.

It's not like they are doing any real harm to each other as this is all happening in their minds or something.

It's not like they are doing any real harm to each other as this is all happening in their minds or something. And if they blew strawberries and started catfights for real?.. ;D Begs the question, what happens to all the etheric spittle that Red is spraying around? But about potential harm... I am unsure about a line of reasoning that goes, "Because it is all in your mind then it can't have any negative effects." I think that this etheric projection thing is probably more than a metaphor or vivid imagining in this GC universe but even if it were not, wouldn't being forced to imagine yourself being vividly beaten have some negative psychological effects? So... anyone else think Fairy Teacher is a total hottie? I made the following double entendre about her with math but the forum ignored it. If I were a nerdboy in this class not only would I be paying close attention to the lecture but I'd be thinking about brushing up on cone segments after school. [edit] Get it? Because they're studying orbits? Come on, I thought that one deserved an appreciative groan or snort. [/edit] [edit2] Okay what if I said the word, "boobies?" [/edit2]

Remember they aren't all faeries. Just sayin. They are ex-fairies and critters from Gillitie. But these seem to understand too. And if they blew strawberries and started catfights for real?.. ;D Begs the question, what happens to all the etheric spittle that Red is spraying around? It's a component of a truly nasty raspbery, but i doubt it's maintained after that. That is - out of mind, out of flight, probably. I think that this etheric projection thing is probably more than a metaphor or vivid imagining in this GC universe but even if it were not, wouldn't being forced to imagine yourself being vividly beaten have some negative psychological effects? Luckily, fairies don't know what dat junk is. ;D

It's a component of a truly nasty raspbery, but i doubt it's maintained after that. That is - out of mind, out of flight, probably. But even if that's the case there's more than one mind at work here (so to speak). When Red blows a raspberry at Blue and soaks her in saliva, the flying spittle might have come from Red's mind but then it hits Blue's etheric form. Blue knows it's there, the rest of the class knows it's there. Or as someone in LOTR put it: "I know what is in your mind, for it is in my mind as well." ;D [edit] For my little sister, who is a big pokemon fan for some reason: "Red used BUBBLE. Its SUPER EFFECTIVE." [/edit]
