I suppose that, with summer here, the people who usually start these threads are away from the computer on holiday.
I hadn't expected Parley and Smith to be older students. We know, or can easily guess, why Annie's present (her actions started this trouble), but I wonder why they were summoned to the meeting. We'll probably find out in the next few pages.
There's also the blonde woman standing close by the man in the chair. (I suppose that the man in the chair is the school headmaster.) I wonder what her significance is, as well.

The blond woman must be the other girl from the photo.
Smith reminds me of an older version of the picture Tom drew of himself as a Gunnerkrigg student. Though I suspect that's just a coincidence.
And Parley is talking like a pirate: "I had all me stuff packed."

Well, that explains why Anja referred to them by their last name. Man, I get the feeling the pace is going to pick up REALLY quickly from here. The introduction of at least 4 new characters on one page does that.
Agreed on the blonde woman being the same girl on that picture. She's just different enough.

She's probably all starin' at Annie because she's thinking "Is that Surma's daughter?"
I really like the way Tom made the anonymous blond familiar but not instantly recognizable.

I'm not sure about that. If you compare the young and adult versions of Eglamore, Anja and Donald, they almost haven't changed (except Eglamore's and Donald's hairstyles (and even Eglamore's hair colour) but their facial features are pretty much the same). I think the girl in the photo and the "starrin' lady" looks too different.
I'm sure she's an important character, though.

The nose is slightly different. The makeup aren't really facial features, nor are the hair colour. It's really her expression that reminds me of that picture. I have little doubt she'll be introducing herself monday or somewhere next week though.

I think the eyes look pretty different. Of course that could be partly because of the makeup.
But yeah - nose and mouth looks a lot the same

Yay. I really wish webcomic artists did this sort of thing more often. =P
Anyway, I'm wondeing just how old Parley and Smith actually are. They're dressed well, but they don't strike me as grown. High school age maybe?
Either way, I like how with one page we now have tons of questions wondering about who the hell all these people are.

Only Tom can answer for certain, but I suspect that Parley and Smith are around 16 or so.

Oes noes.... I guess that Annie changed back into her school uniform when she went to get Reynardine.

The Donlans and Eglamore aren't visible. Have they not arrived yet, or are they just lost in the crowd?

Blond lady must be pretty important, like the headmaster's bodyguard or somethin', to be standing so close to him.

Pirate? Nah, just English.
Judging from Smith's expression, Parley is apparently a little, um, high maintenance, perhaps.

I think that the term is "Deputy Head" - or "Deputy Headmaster" or "Deputy Headmistress".

Also, I'm guessing that Parley and Smith must have some species of special power that gets them into important meetings such as this one.

Or maybe they're just a bit more adventurous than the other students and had dealings with Gillitie before. How do you pronounce Parley anyway? With an ee or like french "parler"?

Maybe (as someone else suggested - I forget who) they're Head Boy and Head Girl. They seem about the right age for that.

Sounds to me that Parley is a negotiator of some kind... And searching on the ever helpful wikipedia it seems this might be the case... The word most famously used in contempory culture in 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and spelt/pronounced incorrectly as 'parlay' derives from the french parlée 'to speak' and is demonstrated in the film as a request to confer with the captain of the ship. A parley is most commonly a negotiation with ones enemies.
And it seems Andrew Smith was a politician in the 1950s though this might just be a coincidence.
See what I did there All clever like.
It also stuck me on first glance at the photo that the other girl beared more of a resemblence to Gamma.

Thanks
Yeah he was MP for Oxford East and Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, was born in New York but lived in England it seems, sorry, made a mistake about the 50s thing, he was born in the 50s, he works for the Labour party now.

The dude in the chair (be he headmaster or not) looks kinda like Eglamore. If he wore a tuxedo and old. It's the nose/eyebrow. Though he is only seen from a distance.
