I swear you must be some kind of machine, Max. Shadow 2 looks awesome with the hood up. Like a cutesy Ringwraith. It also looks like he is more than just a 2d surface projected into 3d, now... but that he has actual 3d shape and depth. Maybe that's just the art in these panels though.

Shadow, that sweet little smile, you're ridiculous. It is absolutely insane how cute you are, it really is. Look at that face, everyone! LOOK AT IT! I wonder if he'll be able to shift between dimensions with enough practice now? At least when Shadow was 2d, he could get around anywhere or hitch a ride on somebody. Now it's going to be pretty hard to hide adorable shadow unless he stays in dark places naked all the time. It'd be neat if he could shift, though. So handy.

It's funny how the simplest things always end up being the most adorable.

What's that old line about couples looking alike? It seems to apply here.

Wait a minute… that hood makes him look like a jawa… he went from 2D to 3D… until now he could only live in dark places… OF COURSE! SHADOW2 IS AN ALLEGORY OF MODERN CINEMA!!!

It's funny how the simplest things always end up being the most adorable. I love the fact that by this comic's standards, bromance (or perhaps more) between a robot and a creature of sentient darkness is simple.

legion: Thats what I thought too when I saw the last panel, he looks like a Jawa with the hood up. Its hard to tell for sure if Shadow is now fully 3D or its just the artwork, although panels 2 and 4 make him look like he is still flat while the others make him look more 3D. As far as his shapeshifting ability (other than his face obviously) and ability to stick to surfaces, we'll find out in time whether he has permanently lost those abilities or not.

Well, it's hard to draw something three dimensionally if it's entire surface is perfectly black. You can't do any shading, which is normally a prime tool to achieve the illusion of depth. That said, I'm thinking Shadow has a proper three dimensional body now. How much he may still be able to deform and stretch himself remains to be seen (it appears his body isn't entirely solid).

Dawww, this is the post adorable panel ever! Annie and Rey's big proud parent smiles in the first panel, Shadow's wobbliness like a little kid learning to walk and baggy clothes like he's wearing his big brother's, him wearing the same clothes as Robby, Shadow's smile and the last panel hug! What a happy family This panel makes me feel warm and fuzzy, just in time for the holidays I would love Tom to make a Christmas photo style print of all these characters together. This chapter went from really frightening to absolutely precious so quickly. Oh that Coyote, such a trickster and messing with our emotions!

I think Shadow is still monomolecular, it's just the lack of shading that makes him look like he has mass. He got pushed off the floor, not inflated.

Okay this is diabetes-level adorable. But still it's Robot and he's creepy as hell. I feel like this can only end badly.

So wait, does Shadow2 have a shadow now? Uhbluhuu?
My mind must rest now.
I don't know what it is exactly, but something about Shadow2's head reminded me of the Yuyu from the Brackenwood series. Might just have been a reaction to the comment of him changing dimension though, because looking at them now, Shadow2 doesn't look much like them. Much friendlier and more huggable.
He does look a bit impish though, and that hood and smile makes him seem so childlike.
His people are poorer without him. Their loss.

SO SWEET.
I'm glad the BFFs are back together and that everyone is okay. This has been kind of nerve-wracking.

Wait, so is jumper the word for "hoodie" over there? I apologize for being under-educated. Because if it is, I'm totally gonna start calling it that instead. DISREGARD. Also, Shadow is never gonna not be cute. I love him so.

When I saw Shadow's little smile, I felt all warm and fuzzy inside.
When I saw Robot's emotional sudden hug, I let out an audible 'AWWGGHHHHHWWWGHHH'

Well now that would be interesting indeed *strokes chin and goes off on a wild speculation train of thought* This has to be one of the most touching pages. It's an amazing feat since Robot has no expression, just words of which he is sparing. I think it's time for a cup of tea and a bit of a sit down now that the panic has passed.

Which links back to the possible reasons Coyote may have had to place that binding on Antimony in the forest...

So there'll be a colony of robots and shadows in the basement, all worshipping the painting, Kat, and the tooth of plane severance. Nothing can go wrong with that.

You know, it kinds of amaze me how Robot and Shadow2 are still prominent in the story after all this time; after chapter 1 you really could have thought they were one-time characters; but nope!

Thanks for the cultural education Tom And yeah, I wonder what Coyote would think of this development? Good point about how maybe this is why he gave Annie the binding to keep the existence of the tooth a secret.

so shadow is like the monolith in 2001, three dimensional but reflecting no light.

Regarding Shadow2 being 3D: he could corrugate himself. It would make standing upright, and holding clothes up, easier. He'd have to practice such things as walking smoothly, though.
Regarding clothing: quite a lot of items of clothing have different names in the US versus the UK. I once came across a list of ten names of items of clothing, the list as a whole having the following characteristics: * Every term is a name of an item of clothing in both the US and the UK * Every item of clothing on the list using the US meanings is also on the list using the UK meanings * NOT ONE term refers to the same garment in both the US and the UK.
And they were not exotic items either. "Jumper" and "pants", I remember, are both on the list. I think "suspenders" is too but wouldn't swear to it.
