Huh. I guess Kat is going to have to speed of her work on Robot's new body. The Happy Knife (Hilarious Blade? Was a name agreed on?) really reminds me of the Subtle Knife, except it's more happy. This makes me wonder what "It could cut the very earth" actually means. Is it just a way of saying "this knife is REALLY sharp" or does it mean it could actually "wound" the Earth? (A wound as in something like the Annan cleft).

It's a frikking lightsabre!
Also, cue the oh crap reaction from Robot and the others. Don't know why he didn't try to dodge though.
Anyways, maybe that is what Coyote meant by cleaving the very earth in two, iron and steel come from iron ore, which comes from the earth, so in a sense, that is cleaving the very earth in two since it cut through them like a hot knife through butter. I'll guess that the iron girder and steel ball bearing were the hardest materials they could obtain.
Also, I'm not sure if coyote knows that metals are mined from ore, but if he does, then that could be what he means, it could and will cut through diamond.

It's simply Coyote's Tooth. I know, i meant the forum name. The last thread had a couple funny suggestions, but i wasn't sure if anyone agreed on anything or if it was just the heck of it. I'll keep calling it the Happy Knife because it's an awesome name

Huh. I guess Kat is going to have to speed of her work on Robot's new body. Agreed. I can see the next ten or fifteen strips being "Kat builds awesome robots".

I think they'd better watch star wars to get an idea of how powerful a lightsabre can be. At least she won't have to deflect blaster bolts with it.

To cut through iron shows that it's strong. To be able to cut through something like a silk scarf fluttering on a breeze shows that it's sharp.
The ball bearing was a good test as it tests both strength and sharpness. However, I do wonder if Kat thought of something like the silk scarf test.

You know, if the Happy Dagger uses laughter to cut things, maybe Smitty's srs bsns powers can reassemble what it cuts?

I like how Parley's immediate test of blade sharpness is to take a swing at her sparring partner. Sword safety at its finest! Also I wonder if the Giggleblade can cut Jones? I mean it probably can I'm sure but wouldn't it be kickass if it couldn't?

When Coyote says "it could cut the very earth" he also means "everything on earth" or mighty close to it. This was an accident waiting to happen. Robot is going to need a new body, maybe we'll soon see that idea Kat had when she was taking care of City Face

I'll keep calling it the Happy Knife because it's an awesome name I personally like the moniker Funny Sword. But that's just me. Coyote said the [insert name here once we've settled on a decisive nickname] could cut the very earth. If the iron=iron ore=earth connection is actually how this works, and the blade literally cuts anything that is part of, or derived from part of the earth, wouldn't that list include everything currently in existence on the freaking planet?

While Robot being accidentaly sliced in two isn't TOTALLY unexpected.... D= Aye. On the other hand, maybe counts as a parody. It's a frikking lightsabre! I'm essentially a comic relief character. That's why I'm going to be decapitated now. - C3PO, "Attack of the Clowns". Also, cue the oh crap reaction from Robot and the others. Don't know why he didn't try to dodge though. Didn't expect THAT either? Correction: she goes back into freak-out. Anyways, maybe that is what Coyote meant by cleaving the very earth in two, iron and steel come from iron ore, which comes from the earth, so in a sense, that is cleaving the very earth in two However, I do wonder if Kat thought of something like the silk scarf test. The point about non-mineral targets depends on materials of S13's clothes and internal non- load bearing parts. Petrochemical products can be stretched this way, but we don't know what is and isn't there.

I think the "cut the very earth" comment was just Coyote being poetic. Given what we've seen it can do, and that it's Coyote that said it, I'm not sure that's a safe assumption.
