Is George a lefty, or is she just holding the sword that way so's she can put on her mask?

So it appears as though she is thankful to Jeanne for bringing her and Smitty together. And thus wishes to help Annie help Jeanne, perhaps.

Presumably, the court will become vulnerable in some way once Jeanne has been released?

Presumably, the court will become vulnerable in some way once Jeanne has been released? Beings from each side of the waters will be able to cross the water without using the bridge.

A plan, finally! I am happy to hear tell of it. Now, hopefully, we get to see how effective it is in this chapter.
It appears that Robot's name has been softened to Robby, and from there it can be formalized to Robert. Another step in the Court along the path to general recognition of sentience (also hopefully).

It would probably mean that glass eyed men could cross without hindrance or notice, so the benefit would be to the forest.

Presumably, the court will become vulnerable in some way once Jeanne has been released? Maybe that could lead to the Court actually talking to the forest-folk about their grievances, rather than hiding behind a barrier. It's about time that they tried diplomacy and negotiation to settle their problems, rather than the approach of force (with Jeanne) or fraud (with Renard). (Of course, one obstacle to the diplomacy approach is a certain trickster who'd probably find peace boring....)

I really like the little detail of how she had Robot armed with a sword similar to Jeanne. Presumably, he's going to use side-sword or rapier thrusting techniques while Parley tries to find good countering techniques with her arming sword. She's probably also counting on his faster-than-human motions since she's expecting a superior opponent.

We don't know why the forest and court were divided. probably because the glass eyed men, coyote and ysengrin were crossing it whenever they wanted and that was a problem for the court.

I... really can't see how that is a good thing. What happened to Jeanne was undeniably terrible, but just think of what the higher ups the court, or Ysengrin, might be willing to do, if the waters can be crossed without fear. Also, Robby is a great nickname. And I really look forward to seeing some sparring! Don't you dare take this off-panel, Tom, I swear to God.

If Jeanne is keeping the peace, it's a peace brought by enslaving an innocent and keeping her stuck in a hellish existence. That's a really high price to pay. I'm not going to criticise for the kids for wanting to walk away from Omelas.

JONES: As for your punishment, Parley... It seems we have a new opening available for a highly skilled swordfighter who can defend multiple locations simultaneously. In exchange, your sentence will be reduced by ten years.

I'm really hoping to see some Bip!fighting, it might be cheating (just a little) but Parley will need every advantage she can get and it'll hopefully keep her from getting hurt. Also, bip!fighting should be brilliant!
Ever since Annie and Parley had their altercation with Jeanne at the river the quality of the Gunnerkrigg Court story really stepped up a notch into something exceptional and it hasn't let up. I'm in love with this storyline.

Question: Must they be so secretive about training? I don't see what's wrong with training for training's sake, especially in light of Parley needing to develop some way to integrate her new powers into her fighting style? I just think they could probably benefit from Jones' and Eglamore's tutelage here rather than just going it alone. Plus it's not like the Court can't track them down anyways right?

Robot appears to have learned fencing from his brief jump into S13. Considering Jeanne seemed to have been the Court's fencing master around the time S13 was made, one would assume S13's fighting style was patterned off of Jeanne's. Jones and Eglamore would probably notice something suspicious if Parley asked for help.

S1, you mean.
I could see questions becoming uncomfortable. The sudden interest in intensive combat training would surely bring some unwanted attention to this little endeavor. The court could track them down right now, but all the location tells them is that they're getting some practice time in, or maybe that Parley's showing Annie some moves.

There is something marvelously romantic, to me, about the way Smitty calmly helps arm his girlfriend, here. Respect, support, friendship, trust, and total cheerful disregard for traditional gender roles in favor of honoring who the two of them really are. Call me sentimental, but it made me grin like a sap. ♥

Actually, Tom has stated in the formspring that Jeanne was just a soldier and had no important position in the Court. But S1 and Jeanne may have similar fighting styles nonetheless.

Question: Must they be so secretive about training? Well, Robot is still technically a fugitive. How are people pronouncing "Robby"? I can't decided to go with the normal pronunciation or make it match the "o" in "Robot".

I think I would spell long O "Roby", and the human name "Robby." But now that you've put the other pronunciation in my head I believe I quite like it better

Also, bip!fighting should be brilliant! I honestly don't think there will be any bip!fighting. Parley seemed like she wanted a good, honest fight with Jeanne, and I would personally be disappointed if she used her teleportation skills in that fight. Though I'm excited to see a fencing match between Parley and Robby, since I'm in fencing myself ;D
