My thoughts exactly... I even got to imagine him speaking in a deeper voice!

Come to think of it, Annie looks a lot older in this page too.

Holy smokes!
I haven't posted in a long while, but WOW. They both look so much older here. Yes, I'm stating the obvious... so I'll go back to lurking now.

I see everyone had the same impression that I did. They look a lot older now. My first impression was that we were getting a flashback, and I was surprised that the redhead was being called 'Annie' instead of 'Surma'

They really have grown up a lot, haven't they!
I really like Annie's Cheongsam-style coat, it looks quite good on her. Interesting to see that the court supplies so many different styles of cloaks for the students. But I guess that's just the advantage of having a robotic work force.
Also: Annie = smooth operator! ;D

Jack looks awesome, and Annie is looking super smooth (gotta love that raised eyebrow).

Guys. Stop. Stop growing up. It's making both my head and heart hurt. Darn it!
...Does this mean we get to hear about Kamlen? Because I would like to hear about Kamlen.

What one summer can do! But really, I'm swept away. He's matured, but he's also got this clever-but-kind look to him now. Glad the spider and the adolescent anxiety have gone. And Annie's smoother and more chic than ever, it seems. I swear, every time I see her twice-tied ponytail, I'm reminded of a flame. (The bottom part...upside down, I suppose.)

That was a lot less awkward then I was expecting. And she helped him with his clip.

Avoiding the "Have a child and die" mess, I bet Annie will be starting on a Tale of life in the Forest.

WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA Shipping them so hard, right now, just sayin'. Jack doesn't look smokin', but yeah, he did hit puberty over the summer. I have to notice, though, he looks a bit like Eglamore now, does anyone notice? Like, his nose looks like his. I might be oglin-I MEAN OVER-ANALYZING but he does look a bit like Eglamore, which would sink my hopes hard. I really wanted to see how Jack looked like, but now I'm just going to be waiting for Zimmy and Gamma to show up. I really want to see how they've changed since Spring Heeled.

Yes, I'm getting visual-deja vu with Surma and Eglamore here - goodness knows if they'll paralell their relationship, we don't know enough yet. I want to know how much of the sudden looking-older is because they're older, and how much is symbolism to show how much they've grown mentally over the summer. Annie, we know, has definitely grown as a person, and summer was definitely good for Jack's recovery.

This page makes me want to go "SQUEEE!" like a little fangirl. Amazing what time and lack of spiders can do to a guy. Or what a complete breakdown and a summer spent in the woods can do to a girl.

Not nearly as awkward as I thought it would be. Then again we are about to enter the real "meat" of the conversation here. The main course if you would. They do look very grown up, and Annie even seems a little relaxed. I am in awe. This page makes me want to go "SQUEEE!" like a little fangirl. Amazing what time and lack of spiders can do to a guy. Or what a complete breakdown and a summer spent in the woods can do to a girl. Lack of spiders from a demented hell-child's ether filled subconscious dimension can do a lot for a guy indeed.

Loocks like Jack hit a growth spurt over the summer. This makes me really wonder what the characters will look like by the time the comic ends.
This is undoubtedly a coincidence, but does anyone else think he looks a bit like Steadman?

Maybe, with this strip, my boyfriend will finally accept that Jack likes Annie. And, quite possibly, that she is interested back? *shipshipship*

I love how everyone's grown up slightly over the summer.
I'm guessing she's not gonna tell him about the whole "unintentionally killing mother, trying to set Eglamore on fire and being unable to have kids" part. That would create one hell of an awkward silence.

This is all good and all, but we still don't know what they're doing out there; just partying ? I'm guessing romance is the order of the day. That seemed to have been partially what motivated the last trip as well.

Good to see that Jack got even smarter over the summer.

That seemed to have been partially what motivated the last trip as well. I had hoped that they had a better reason for that, in light of the problems their sneaking out faces (particularly the fact that they can't go back to the dorms until morning - increasing the possibility of the teachers finding out and giving them detention for breaking curfew). Seems an incredibly foolish risk to take for just a bit of socialization. On the other hand, they *are* adolescents, and that's probably affecting their judgment.

Wow, that was unexpectedly straightforward of Jack, on both the second and last panels. I like how the kid developed over the summer. And he's gotten real handsome too.
Anyone else curious about his summer? I'd like to see some pages about that.

They look so mature and nice. WWHHYYYYY? Loocks like Jack hit a growth spurt over the summer. This makes me really wonder what the characters will look like by the time the comic ends. Long beards and grey hair. Wanna bet?

Aw, come on, is there a better reason than romance for sneaking out? Or doing anything else?
