My guess is they are jamming devices. This is my guess as well. They could do any number of things like relay a false location to the Court's tracking system, hide them from detection, etc... Sounds like the kids are going to go on another adventure into the court! |

That's what they need all the robots for: They'll personalise one of those little thingies for each of them, plant them on the bots, and have them move around in their stead, so the court won't get suspicious. That way they can avoid detection pretty much indefinitely (unless someone screws up) without anyone ever noticing anything's wrong. |

The court tracks them mostly through their food. Jones admitted as much.
If they just stopped eating court food for about 2 days their signals would likely become untraceable. but disappearing children would likely prompt the court to start searching for them manually. So decoys.
Indeed for this theory to work someone has to have either been smuggling in outside food, or one of the team is a wicked good stealth ninja gardener.
My money is on ninja gardeners. Stealth apples are the best.

Despite all the talk about the Court supposedly tracking the children, it doesn't seem to do much about it. None of the teachers showed up to apprehend them when they were sneaking out at night back in Chapter Nineteen. Nor have any of them showed up to block Annie and Kat whenever they were sneaking off on other adventures.
Thus, if the Court really is tracking the children, the people in charge of that must not be all that vigilant. (Unless you want to take the cynical slant that they're allowing this to happen as some kind of test with the children as guinea pigs.)

P.S.: Interesting, have the Court some "Dangerous" students to be tracked? (Zimmy and Annie are not considered ;D Of course they are)

She seems to have gotten past the whole 'SPringheel Jack' episode, so yea, I agree in that what she found out before the summer could play into it. She sounds more surprised than having trepidation at Jack. Before, only Kat and her family were known to Annie as being technology whizzes, she may have been unsure whether the spider was making him technologically adept (with superpowers) last time. As for the three short stories, maybe some exerpts of Kat and Annies summers? Or some other secondary characters (of which there are lots, to varying degrees). |

It's like the motion detectors are just talismans; they only work if you think they do. The Court seems to value adventure, anyway. What else is Dr. Disaster employed there for? Maybe the Court realizes, deep down, that it might be hypocritical of them to scold the children for endangering their safety just to satisfy their curiosity - in a sense, isn't the Court's presence at the edge of Gillitie Wood the same kind of thing? |
