There's something deeply unsettling about Robox's smile.

I feel disturbed. Who knew he could say anything other than "Helloooooooooooo" and "awwwwwww"?

Okay, the robots are no longer funny. At all.
... yes I'm aware that might be the point.

LAUGHIN ON LINE!!!!!!!!
Boxbot lives on a placid island of ignorance in the black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that he should voyage far

Okay, the robots are no longer funny. At all. ... yes I'm aware that might be the point. Wrong. That was hilarious. I wouldn't mind seeing a buddy cop television show where Boxbot and Robox fight crime. Boxbot's somewhat regular-sized vocabulary rubs me the wrong way, though.

I think this is comic relief after a very serious chapter. I love it.

I don't think that strip is funny. Or I just don't like long pauses...

Watch as Boxbot becomes important as the only robot who isn't part of the Kat Kult.

I was trying to think of something cute or clever to say, but all I can think of is: "Give me more Gunnerkrigg Court!"

I do enjoy this type of dark humor but I didn't expect it today. The bottom strip made me think of Jhonen Vasquez's comics.

On the strength of this, can anybody tell me why we are supposed to think Boxbot is so terrible and Robox is lovely? I am deeply suspicious that it is simply because Tom has said so, and that this is a massively-long-range side-arc relating to prejudice and pride.
I will not be at all surprised if Boxbot turns out to be some kind of heroic figure, and Robox—just like how he shows up here—is basically a grinning git.

No reason. But it's not just "Tom said so", everybody in-world thinks the same. Without any good reason as well, that's what makes this funny, at least for me.

Neither one have even done anything important in the story as yet - but then again, a lot of the most popular elements of "Gunnerkrigg Court" (such as the spacemonauts or the pop culture references) have had little effect on the main story.

Of course, we don't know that Robox doesn't go on to explain everything fully to Boxbot. And then maybe get help.
Or maybe none of that happens. Part of good storytelling is choosing what to reveal and what to leave unknown. From what's shown here, Robox seems pretty unhelpful. We've seen the human attitude toward Boxbot, and inferred that the robots feel the same way about him, but we don't really know.
It seems certain that we'll be surprised by the robots, though. They seem at once so much like us but so very different. Nor are they really like robots we know from elsewhere. That's Tom's genius: to surprise us with the familiar.

Y'know, Boxbot's really more of a 'box with arms bot' - Kat should give his arms to Robox so that Boxbot can finally live up to his name.
