"Quick! Deactivate me before I have to answer anything!"
Hahahahaha. Well played.
Poor Kat. She's like the emotional punching bag of the comic.

Finally confirms what many of us suspected about the Court. The whole exchange with the robot was handled very well.
No doubt they'll keep this conversation in mind, revelations this profound will definitely inform their thoughts and actions later on. The interesting part will be how and the differences between Kat and Annie's conclusions.

Well as Tom bluntly put it. Circles.

Um, Kat, dear?
If you didn't like doing it, you could have put it off for half a minute or so while Annie clarified something.

I'm glad that was addressed; it would have bugged me if neither of the girls thought to ask the robot about the court before turning him off. I can see Kat's speed on the draw here, cutting Annie off from asking some pretty important stuff, being a bone of contention later on.

I got the impression that Kat only moved fast because the robot asked (panel 4). The only thing that Kat is guilty of is compassion.

Awww I had at least hoped something like:
Kat: —But wait, before you go, can you tell me how to read Diego's writing? Frankenbot: —Oh it's easy, you just have to jargon jargon babble babble strange words. Kat: —But how do I chatter chatter jargon computers technical wizardry babble jargon. Annie: —…
Edit: also lulz at Tom referencing Antichrist in one of his tweets.

Has it always been "Seed Bismuth" and not "Seed of Bismuth" have I been reading that wrong for years?
Edit: I have. And I call myself a fan! The shame, the shame!

I know this is how Tom typically operates, but give us SOMETHING, man. You had us all waiting on edge, and it was all for nothing. Dick move, man. Dick move.

Listen Frankenbot, your death can wait, I WANT ANSWERS!!
...is what I might thought right before it was defused by his deactivation.

Well, considering the source, it's likely the talk of the Court growing from Seed Bismuth is literal, not metaphorical.

If anything, we have seen that the personalities of various modern robots are different. We can speculate that the original robots also have different personalities, and therefore possibly different opinions.
Kat can activate a second "original" robot to see if it's opinion matches the first.
It would be quite the kicker to discover that Kat activated Mr. Gloom and Doom.
Also, since they're over their shock, they can get in a few more Court-origin questions.

I have to agree, I understand that Zombiebot wants to die, but couldn't he wait for 2 minutes while he tells them what the hell the seed bismuth is? And now Kat is sad again D: Edit: Actually after some thought it makes sense, Kat didn't want to do it but had to so she did it quickly and without thought. Likely she wasn't really thinking of what they could be doing after than what she had to do. It's only afterwards that you go "Damn! We could have done this!" If anything, we have seen that the personalities of various modern robots are different. We can speculate that the original robots also have different personalities, and therefore possibly different opinions. Also, since they're over their shock, they can get in a few more Court-origin questions. Considering how emotionally crushed Kat was after being forced to kill Zombiebot I highly doubt Annie or anyone would ask that of her. It might get answers but at the cost of Kat's mental health...

I think it's interesting how Annie asks how the court was BUILT, and Frankenbot replies that it GREW from the Seed Bismuth. So yeah, I'm pretty sure he's being literal and not metaphorical here.
Still, would've been nice of him to clarify before he died...

"grew from the Seed Bismuth"... I find it interesting that the robot choses exactly the same words that according to Annie the forest people use when inquired about this subject.

And more seriously, my first thought was "That? You asked that?"
But we have a bit more information than Annie does...notably that image of the Tic-Toc body having grown into the cliff down by the Annan.
And I'm not sure that there's a better question for her to ask right now - they have a plan for dealing with Jeanne, Kat figured out the glyphs on the cube (or at least how they relate to Diego's drawings). It would have been interesting to ask if Diego actually invented the hearts, but that's probably one step beyond what the girls have worked out so far.
I don't know...but it's an interesting question: If you were in Annie's position, and had one question to ask Frank, what would it be?

As per Toms comment about circles, I wonder if he means circle of life or something. Or at least implying that things have come around in a circle.

It's a little frustrating not to get a lot of answers about GC from Frank but the thing about ZombieBot is that by having someone who was around at the time he runs the risk of becoming ExpositionBot and it would be a pretty boring comic if he just sat down and started to talk and explain stuff for chapters and chapters. it makes a much better story if Kat and Annie discover it on their own like they did with Jeanne
It is curious that most people who describe the development of the court explain it using the same words. if the court physically grew out of a single spot i wonder what is in that spot now?

It would be quite the kicker to discover that Kat activated Mr. Gloom and Doom. I'd love to imagine that. I said something similar in previous threads. But I can't help but get the sinking feeling that we're to assume that Frank's beliefs reflect the beliefs of all of the old bots. It's a little frustrating not to get a lot of answers about GC from Frank but the thing about ZombieBot is that by having someone who was around at the time he runs the risk of becoming ExpositionBot and it would be a pretty boring comic if he just sat down and started to talk and explain stuff for chapters and chapters. it makes a much better story if Kat and Annie discover it on their own like they did with Jeanne Well yeah, of course it's more interesting to have the important characters figure things out on their own. So... maybe a character like Frank shouldn't get introduced in the first place? I have to say, this chapter is weird. I feel like it's going to be a burr in some people's heel for a while. Here we've got a guy with all (or at least, a lot of) the answers, and instead of answers we get a weird Aesop about life and death and "knowing your place". And that's it. The chapter isn't over yet, so maybe we haven't seen the "real point" of it yet. I hope there is one, though.
