Here is your new page! I double-checked the link. Thrills are cheap. Far from what? Why did the robot run away through the wall instead of just asking where the tomb was?

Fear not, Emperor ( max, Mexican history is kind of cool). Hopefully the new robot will have some explanation for his poor behavior.

I guess the tackle and falling flat on his face was enough to snap him out of being startled. Which would be understandable given his situation and the amount of time that passed.

I meant when you first post the thread. That's how I've been doing it, at least. ETA: ( max, Mexican history is kind of cool) ...huh?

Click the link in the previous post. Austrians sometimes have delusions of imperial grandeur in the New World. But this is all irrelevant to the page at hand.

HereFar from what? Why did the robot run away through the wall instead of just asking where the tomb was? He ran because he was startled, and Robots crane kick to the face didn't help. It probably wasn't until he went outside that he started to realize what was going on. As for 'far from what'. could be various things. Theres a 200+ time span between Frankenbot and the modern robots, he could very well be one of the last Diego robots that were deactivated and he saw the first attempts at self replication.

I get the impression that he knows S1(3) in particular...though it could be the plural 'you.' Stupid English and its stupid ambiguities.

To be fair, if I woke up on an operating table, I'd be pretty startled.

I read his comment as referring to how much social progression has been made, in that Robot is friends with a shadow creature (of the forest) and a human (who even now are often seen as too far above robots to be friends with them).

This is how I read it as well. Also, hooray for Shadow2! I know it hasn't been that long since we've last seen him, but as the second longest-running character in the comic I smile whenever I see him.

Hm... May be robots/golems were GC's slaves in That Big Robot's times?

I love how amazingly civil the world of GC is. Frank realized he behaved badly and apologized and was graciously forgiven. He could have attacked Robot simply because he was attacked but he didn't. He stopped to think before reacting.
I like these people!
Oh and does anyone think its time for Robot to choose a proper name?

Something is off about this old 'bot. From the concerned, almost "gosh golly panic" look on the robots in the second-to-last panel of 889, to the actions and dialogue of Frank ('Oh, how far *you* have come.'), I'm thinking the tiny scratch that disabled him was for a good reason. I have a bad feeling that his intention for seeing the tomb is less reverent and more sinister.
Call it cynical-flavored speculation.

Even Ys is kind of a "jerk with a heart of gold." Of course... even a villain can be civil.

Old Robot took the presence of one of the Forest's soldiers remarkably casually. That robot looks so humanoid that I keep thinking "Put some clothes on!" Good enough?

Old Robot took the presence of one of the Forest's soldiers remarkably casually. Could it be possible that he recognized Shadow as just a kid around Kat and Annies age, maybe a little younger? Aside from the fact that he somehow got into the court in the first place, and we haven't seen any other shadowpeople lurking around, which is an unsolved plot hole on Toms part, and the shadowpeople look alike to us readers. Heck, I'm not sure if Annie recognized him at first when she fell into the Annan Divide and encountered him. Just one of the many mysteries that are yet to be revealed.

Maybe this is wild speculation, but I read the "how far you've come" as a reference to the robots' design and instantly thought Frankenbot/Ambigiousbot was Deigo's consciousness >_> is that weird?
Upon re-reading though, it seems more likely it's a reference to the apparent togetherness of the court and forest--humans, robots and shadows all being friends =D

Perhaps Frankenbot's saying "how far you have come" give us a clue to the meaning behind the chapter title "Give and Take". By evolving from the original heart-shaped core with simple engraved symbols to the much more advanced holographic storage, the robots have gained the ability to befriend humans. But something has been lost in translation here. Perhaps their original sense of purpose?

But something has been lost in translation here. Perhaps their original sense of purpose? Maybe, especially given the fact that each chapter title gives each chapter its meaning, and the connection for this one hasn't appeared yet. The two (or three) types of robot we saw in Ties, which is over 20 years in the past, looked a little less complex than the modern generation. While its true that we only saw two types out of the diversity we have seen and can't really judge how advanced they were at the time, the robots may have gone through a period of primitiveness until technology advanced far enough (I wonder if they experimented with steam power ) for them to eventually reach their current complexity.
