Theres a few frakenstein references in there.
Also, there is a family resemblance between the big robot and the modern one in panel 4.

Aw. I was hoping we could cut past this part to Kat discovering something interesting.
Ok, it *was* a funny punchline. I'm sure this page is necessary for pacing. I'm just being overeager is all.

Hey, that symbol on the big robot's chest looks a bit like the breast pockets on these snazzy suits (EDIT: with 3 buttons instead of 2, though). Coincidence? Maybe...

Take a look at the robots shown in S1, all of the humanoid ones have some kind of badge on the left side of the chest. There are variations, but they appear to be badges of rank or badges showing what they do. Although the only time we've seen court employees have anything that looks similar to what we see in the old robots have been on those two employees.

Probably just a coincidence, then.

Or maybe a remnant of a old rank/badge system they had? Still, until we see more of those, it could just have been a coincidence.

Check out the last panel. I do believe I see Robot's elbow.

Check out the last panel. I do believe I see Robot's elbow. More like a half slice profile of him. Anyways, what I said earlier was wrong, take a look here a few pages back and here (although the robots eyes are green rather than orange). So I think those guys are like security or something, and the orange bar and two dots is like an ID badge. We haven't seen any badges like that worn by staff other than the apparent security people, so we don't know much that old badge/rank system is still in use.

That robot's badge is orange though. None of the original robots' badges are coloured, but perhaps the colours were applied later. Hmm, could robots with badges similar to human staff badges generally be regarded as more than mere appliances? Juliette and that robot seems to be on friendly terms... Maybe this belongs in wildspec

The robot in panel 4 deserves a name. I'm thinking "Igor" ;D
Also: "It's pronounced 'Fronkensteen' "

Well, old ones did have a glassed compartment in the middle, but she didn't look the first time... Also, there is a family resemblance between the big robot and the modern one in panel 4. Well, it was established that some of them are original versions of the contemporary Court's robots. S1 - S13, prototype H model. Between the bot with a cloak and the bot with a hat - Adminbot's prototype? And now this. Hmm, could robots with badges similar to human staff badges generally be regarded as more than mere appliances? Juliette and that robot seems to be on friendly terms... Probably this says more about Juliette.

Is the big guy Eglamore? Seriously though, that is a rather on the large size for a humanoid robot, as far as Court bots seem to go. Look at him on the table compared to Kat in panel 6.

Maybe this belongs in wildspec The yellow bar/circles symbol at the breast pocket was around even during Jeanne's time: www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=772 and the ones Aata, Shell and others have don't seems to have changed i could swear that somewhere, someone, asked Tom about the badges and he said that they denote your rank or status at the court but i rifled through the Formspring questions database and i can't find anything. maybe i imagined it :S i did find this though: --------------------------- Question: "Juliette and "old friend" both have the same symbol on them, it's not the courts, it is for the ether plant?" Tom's Answer: "It's for the group of people who were following Jack" chrysoprax.org/gunnerkrigg/results?term=juliette------------------ So maybe these symbols denote your job in the court. Bar and two circles could be Security. A single line may be Administration. Not sure what bar and three circles would represent, maybe Maintenance. It's only a theory though.

I'm confused by the "Creepy?" panel. Did one of those robots just shape-shift his face? Or did that robot show up in that panel only and immediately disappear? I think it's the robot version of Diego. O.O Ahem.

I was a bit confused as well, but the panel before it shows a couple other robots that we hadn't seen. I think they're just milling about in the general area.

Going on the rank/badge tangent, the barber-bot has a blank spot right where one of those rank symbols would have been, but that particular branch of the tangent would belong in the wild speculation thread. Its entirely possible that Robot wasn't the only court robot who was given a choice, but what we know about that robots past is nothing.

I wonder what it is about the blue gem/glass/thing on each of Diego's robots that the court robots are unable to duplicate?

I am really confused by panel 4 as well. From the perspective, it looks like it should be the same robot that is in panel 2 but the light config on the face doesn't match up. Where did he come from?

I like the face of the robot when he turns around and asks "Creepy?" He has an eye in the middle of his forehead, like something has gone wrong with the original socket, so they just blocked that up and drilled a new hole in his head. It makes you wonder exactly how much repair the robots can do on themselves, and how fragile is the robot population without the original maker.

From the perspective, it looks like it should be the same robot that is in panel 2 but the light config on the face doesn't match up. Where did he come from? Most likely that robot is just out of view in panel 3 and just hadn't walked up yet in panel 2. As atteSmythe said, the robots are probably just milling around.

Whoa, that is pretty creepy. Still, I can't to see what exactly animates them. I wouldn't be surprised if it's something ether based.

Noticed that the new robot has one normal eye and one bolt. It's original version just has 2 bolts instead of eyes. How did it see? Through the glass in its chest?
