They're starting to get some curious onlookers. I wonder if robot is the tall silhouette and also if he actually overheard what Kat said about on the roof.
Also, Kat (or Tom) should look into the artificial muscles that have been developed in the real world, that could give her some guidance. Although it may depend on whether ahe is doing an endoskeletal or endoskeletal type musculature.
@twarner: From what I know, the robots in Blade Runner seem more like Terminator, with synthetic flesh laid over metal bones, which doesn't seem to be what Kat is going for.
Given Annies experience at the hospital, I wonder how much about biology she actually does know. She does seem interested in the whole thing.

Weren't the Blade Runner robots completely biological? Or am I confused with R.U.R. now?
EDIT: Wikipedia says: "[the replicants in Blade Runner are] genetically engineered organic robots"

I have a feeling Kat may be unsettled with the results of her findings. I know a certain website is officially not to be named, but...powered by a forsaken child, anyone?

Hey, that cabinet in the background in panel 6. Is that the one that Jeanne placed all Diego's little gift robots on? EDIT: No... it isn't. I liked the idea though EDIT 2: Ah, it's this one. I thought I did recognise it from somewhere ;D EDIT 3: And it still has the lamp on it. And the little recorder- and projector bot Okay, I should go do something else now (Argh! Too many smilies)

My guess is that Diego trapped the souls of living creatures into the robots somehow.
Then the girls will decide to free Jeanne by building a robot body for her, and she'll go berserk on the Court.

I would like to subscribe to your newsletter. Kat making a robot like the ones in Blade Runner and putting a A.I in it. Where will this go? A cybernetic organism. Living tissue over a metal endoskeleton. Bum-bum bum bu bum! Bum-bum bum bu bum!

Nanomachines designed to reproduce and organize like real cells??? I don't think Kat is quite THAT good yet. Anyways, Robots following them seems to be driven by curiosity this time around and he is definetly within auditory-sensor shot this time. Also, is that a cow-bot or a dog-bot in the background of panel 1? I thought for a minute that Shadow was standing in the doorway in panel 5.... but its not possible to see Shadow backlit... Aside from the two smaller robots, the taller shadow seems to be Robot. The height looks about right and the rounded rather than blocky silhouette matches. Although he seems to have switched the side he is on with panel 5 and 7.

Doh! Edit!! Sorry, you meant the other figure on the left side! Yeah, he's the only one in the area that would cast that shadow.

Oh yea, I just realized, do we know for sure how long ago Diego lived? Although everything in there (including that scroll Kat was given a few chapters ago) looks very well preserved, she will have to be careful in handling old documents. I'm willing to handwave tom off with it since I doubt Kat knows much about preserving centuries old documents anyway.

I'm willing to handwave tom off with it since I doubt Kat knows much about preserving centuries old documents anyway. I was just thinking maybe Diego would have a recording of his important papers since he did have the capability to record things but maybe he just used special paper like those used to make money.. a kind of linen. But that's probably my own personal bias about backing up data. Its just as likely that Diego used normal notebooks.

The robot king did say that the recorder/projector unit we saw earlier was the last remaining origional model with a memory intact. Theres the possibility that it is just the last known origional model with a memory intact, but that room contains all they have to work with for now.

Well, since the fragility of paper will likely do nothing to advance the story and I really doubt Tom wants Kat to continuously destroy paper just by handling it... lets just say the conditions in which Diego worked/lived were very conducive to preserving notes.. just by coincidence!

It depends of the quality of paper used anyway.

So, now it seems like Annie and Kat are allowed to come and go as they please in the robot section of the Court. And now Robot's watching them there isn't as creepy since technically it's his territory and all the other robots seem to be watching them as well.

It depends of the quality of paper used anyway. Or lets just say that the robots developed a non-toxic preservative that keeps the artifacts from degrading too much. Copying down the stuff on the rolled up paper and the books is a possibility, but that may depend on what the robots feel about that. The cardboard boxes are comparatively recent (as far back as the 1800s), so it looks like they do maintenance from time to time. @amethyst: Well yea, they have authorization by order of the robot king.

I've just had a horrible thought. Robot appears to be acting a little like Diego did before he decided to destroy Jeanne.

I've just had a horrible thought. Robot appears to be acting a little like Diego did before he decided to destroy Jeanne. I agree. Especially before he was scorned that last time that we saw in the recording, he thought he was protecting Jeanne. And S1 was Diego's idealized personification in the performance in front of the tomb.
