I think we are seeing how her mind works when she is getting inspiration and all. She is a super-genius after all. Also, I wonder if Tom is a fan of this comic? With a little more of a mad scientist personality, Kat would fit perfectly in that comic.

Interesting, we got to see Kat's mind in action. I'd have to agree with smjjames in that this is probably her genius at work rather than anything etheric.

She is meshing machines with a human nervous system in that fantasy. She will now build a bio-android.

I'm figuring that Kat actually just figured what Annie was doing in her own way, but neither of them recognise it. Instead of trees, Kat's mind works with machines. If people can make repairing a motorcycle into a Zen-experience, you definately can do the same with air conditioner.

Anyways, as Kat is doing her tech thing, I'm hearing that little music bit they play in Advance Wars every time you activate a Battle CO ability.

I'm with Kat on this one ;D Clearing your mind of all thought can be a difficult task, even if you're not a mechanical supergenius.
And I've been to the ginkakuji ("silver pavilion") in Kyoto, where they have the ultimate Zen rock garden, and I sat there, cross legged, starring at the rocks and stones and pebbles representing waves and clouds and mountains and such, and while I eventually managed to not think about anything, I didn't feel any enlightened for having done it. and that lasted for about two seconds before I started thinking about... I forget what, but it was probably the theme song to something. maybe wondering if I should have continued with the tour group instead of sitting there.
* logically, even thinking about the shapes of the rocks that you're starring at is thinking, even if you're not thinking verbal words.
it was kinda cool, but I suspect that Kat's attempt at mental flight or whatever it is is ultimately doomed to failure.
and then she will build the A/C robot.

Does Kat still think about making android?

I love the mixing of the nerve cells with the mechanical parts on today's page. It's a gorgeous effect. Looks like Kat is still finding inspiration for her robot-building project all around!
It also made me smile that Annie doesn't see the Court as empty... I'd hate for her to become lonely and resentful about the lack of trees like Jeanne did

So wait thinking about nothing makes you a zen master? HOLY HELL GUYS I'VE BEEN ENLIGHTENED FOR YEARS. In all seriousness all I ever got out of meditation was the knowledge that I fall asleep very easily.

To me, it does feel like Kat has a power: seeing mechanics where there's biology, and reciprocally. She saw the pigeon's wing, and instantly got a clear presentation of its bone, of their working, and how that could translate into a robotic arm. And now, she's seeing an air vent, and she gets an instant representation of its internal structure, which is somehow paralled with the interconnectivity of human cells.
Her eyes can do instant analysis.

Granted he was a genius but I think we can accept Kat is a genius also.

Is that Kat's angry face or her thinking face? That's her "if that goes here, then this goes there and that's like this other thing so if I use this in that way, it should work like this but how can I get this to do that" face... ...which looks like an angry face. Once she works it all out, she'll do an "AHA!" face, which looks like a very happy face~

Clearing your mind doesn't mean you think of nothing. it means you focus on something. For Kat that was meditating.
most meditating involves a mental image.
on a side note I miss Kat's long hair.

I thought clearing your mind was to prevent distractions from interfering with what you mean to focus on. Annie is focusing on her inner firebird. Kat is focusing on mechanics.

Kat wasn't trying to focus on anything. She doesn't know how to meditate.
Then she noticed the AC Fan. She then used the fan as a mental focus, Kat's mind then followed this train of thought, breaking down the components, and forming a circuit pattern in her mind of how it would work.
Very Similar to Annie Focusing on herself or her Blinker stone, and expanding her view to include the world around her or the stone. She then explores the nearby world while her body physically stays where she is.
Kat just did the same thing but with machines. Kat did meditate, she just didn't recognize it as such.

I agree and I have to admit, I'm much more curious about what comes of Kat's meditations but I can't wait until she gets back to robot building.
Annie said its not as empty as she expected... I wonder what she's 'seeing'

It's so people browing GK on their smartphone can't get to it. And people who are browing GK on their PC but who don't have a smartphone can't get to it either.

AAnnie began to see the picture. "Here, Annie, turnabout and all that: Take this box of junk and build a robot. Close your eyes and feeeeelll your inner engineer. C'mon! It'll be fun! Robots!" And now Kat accidentally released her inner engineer. Also, I wonder if Tom is a fan of this comic? With a little more of a mad scientist personality, Kat would fit perfectly in that comic. Melding schemes remind me more of this. She is meshing machines with a human nervous system in that fantasy. That's one more thing i like in GKC: in a pair of rough two-cells sketch, Tom draws proper axonal insulation at least once. By the way - how did you recognized it's a human one? I'm figuring that Kat actually just figured what Annie was doing in her own way But there's no flying silhouette of Kat's inner engineer spreading her monkey wrenches. So wait thinking about nothing makes you a zen master? Nope. Not thinking about nothing... I thought clearing your mind was to prevent distractions from interfering with what you mean to focus on. ...though strictly speaking, "you think about X" is not correct, since if you did this, you could simply choose whether to do or don't at any moment, and that's about it. If you can't, it's rather "X thinks to you". It's so people browing GK on their smartphone can't get to it. And people who are browing GK on their PC but who don't have a smartphone can't get to it either. Is a site in defined existent state if there's no one to observe it?
