So anime exists in the Gunnerverse. Awesome. Haha, why wouldn't it? We've got Batman, X-Files, the vidya... It's our world, just with magic! I wonder if Tom is a Miyazaki fan. Wouldn't put it past him.

Just let me stalk a bit by saying: love the in-joke ; d
Also give my regards to Crabby... err... Lindsay (dammit, too much Pokemon)! She seems like one brilliant engineer.

I wonder if Tom is a Miyazaki fan. Wouldn't put it past him. Indeed he is. Yea, I love the Miyazaki movies myself too. Anyways, it's now Annies turn to be puzzled, makes me wonder how many movies she has actually seen, considering where she grew up. Renard is understandably confused as I doubt he ever watched anything on TV, let alone seen Princess Mononoke.

God, the last panel made me laugh (or, more precisely, cough) out loud. Great job, Tom.

You know... with the white wolf and everything... HA! >< Maybe Tom had it planned all along. I'm not really sure what his planning proccess is or how far ahead he plans the storyboards. Edit Oh yea, spoiler ahead: In the movie Princess Mononoke, the conflict of man vs nature makes up a good part of the plot. So it's pretty fitting for GC.

I'm going to go ahead and be THAT PERSON but did I ever mention I got to go to the Studio Ghibli museum in Tokyo when I was an exchange student? They have a life-sized catbus you can run around in SO FREAKIN SWEET. I got a little statuette of the scary deer-god-monster from Mononoke in the gift shop, still sitting on my desk. NERD CRED ACTIVATE.
Anyway but yeah. Renard + DVD player + Kat's anime collection = new and exciting way to pass the time while the girls are in class?

In real life young women respond less favorably than this when you tell them their outfits remind you of cartoon characters. Trust me on this, I lived through the 80s.

You know... with the white wolf and everything... Haha, when Kat said that, I looked up at my Mononoke wall scroll and actually jumped a little when I saw the wolves. How apt.

Depends on the girl and how you say it, generally it probably works better in girl-to-girl conversations (unless the girl in question is my friend who despite not being big on anime in general is waiting for a guy to recognise her Sailor Moon earrings so she can propose ;D) Moving on I just have to echo everyone else on how fitting the Princess Mononoke reference is thematically and visually

I hope it's not getting too much mononoke hime-like, I like those movies (esp. great music and artwork while I didn't like the English dubbing so much), but I like that Gunnerkrigg Court is somewhat traditional European (in some way), not so far away.

Hah, well, I will not be original by saying I could feel the Mononoke influence for quite a time (definitively my favorite Miyazaki, and in fact my second favorite animated movie).
Love Kat's face in the last pannel.

Kat, don't you know that the super giant sea monster is always right?
(Is 6 weeks the standard summer vacation time in England? We always got 10 weeks.)
