When the shape-shifting ghost starts questioning your wacky schemes, something has gone terribly wrong with your life.

You need to be more subtle, Annie. (and get some sleep)

I'm starting to think maybe we should interpret these um, "schemes" as an invitation to play instead of a genuine effort to trick Kat. Or maybe Antimony's friendship skill set is just really really stunted.

At least Kat doesn't seem that perturbed or even inconvenienced by Annie's conniving plans. She knows what it is and is taking it all in good grace, but isn't having any of it at the same time.

Shadow2's speech bubble isn't the same color as Kat's anymore.

Annie has definitely spent a little too much time with Coyote, although apparently without picking up the subtleties that let stuff like "Jolly Elfsberry" actually work.

Okay, that? That was funny. I'm not going to theorize anymore, and I've stopped taking any of this seriously. I'll just sit back and watch the foolery unfold (and I mean that in all of its implications).

Panel seven gives me hope that this rift will mend soon.
Panel eight makes me think that Annie's time in the forest may have changed her much more than we've yet seen.

I certainly do hope this rift mends quickly. And Kat's expression shows signs of hope.
Because otherwise, you've got a near-insane, forest-adjusted, ether magic-trained medium who has enlisted the help of a robot, a ghost and a shadow-demon-thingy.
Even if her accomplices don't cooperate, she could cause some serious chaos in the Court if she wanted to.
EDIT: If this "Gunnerkrigg Court magician" thing doesn't work out, she could rent herself out as a SFX person for the next Michael Bay or Roland Emmerich blockbuster ;D

This is a good chapter because we got to see Robot, Shadow and Mort again.
Also, Annie… still hasn't taken a shower?

It's gonna be interesting to see how Annie is going to snap out of her Elf-thinking, because it will get a lot more harder if she stays this way (e.g. "the only way to release Jeannes ghost and bring her soul peace is to.. make her hair go up!")

Also, Annie… still hasn't taken a shower? or a freaking NAP. I dunno man, I'm kinda turned off by the antics. Wasn't super triple fond of the fairies in the first place and am not totally delighted seeing Annie acting like one now.

Who else thinks this will become a Boy Fire Head Girl who cried wolf scenario? Annie like, trips off a cliff or something and Robot comes running all like, "oh noes angel annie's in trouble" and Kat puts on her serious face.
Either that or there's gonna be a Dr Disaster simulator on Mars and this time everyone but Kat and Annie gets kidnapped.

I'm starting to think maybe we should interpret these um, "schemes" as an invitation to play instead of a genuine effort to trick Kat. Yeah, that's what I've thought all along. She's not trying to worry or upset Kat, just get her interested by doing something fun and wacky. Kat seems to know this, she just doesn't feel like it right now. I predict Parley shows up and Annie gets a bit embarrassed for playing like a kid in front of an older kid. Then of course Kat jumps in finally to "save Annie from the EVIL DEVIL DINOS" and Parley looks at her like she's nuts... "Kids!"

Perhaps involving that mystery splish from a few pages ago? I'd like to see another Dr Disaster scenario. Those are fun! Also, YAY IT'S MORT AND SHADOW2!!!! ;D

I'm starting to think maybe we should interpret these um, "schemes" as an invitation to play instead of a genuine effort to trick Kat. Or maybe Antimony's friendship skill set is just really really stunted. In the Wood entertainment probably is heavily slanted towards Live Action. Something tells me that at this point we can safely assume Kat isn't in a mood for Dr. Disaster's Spacemonauts Adventures TM right now. But it was a good bet that she would. On the other eyestalk, a few months with "hair goes up" fairies can do strange things... Maybe spending the summer with Coyote has broken her brain? ...or, you know, this. ;D Also, Annie… still hasn't taken a shower? No, she got her priorities straight. Interactive drama for Kat is more important. I predict Parley shows up and Annie gets a bit embarrassed for playing like a kid in front of an older kid. Then of course Kat jumps in finally to "save Annie from the EVIL DEVIL DINOS" and Parley looks at her like she's nuts... "Kids!" I'd more expect Parley to join the wackiness eagerly. She's rather... direct, but also fun (in her own way) and really into adventures.

Oy vey. At this point, I'm just waiting for these Kat and Annie imposters to go away and the real Kat and Annie to come back.

Good to see Mort and Shadow again. Despite his being dead for decades, Mort probably has more developed social skills than Annie, also I think Mort was around Annies age, maybe a little older, when he died. When the shape-shifting ghost starts questioning your wacky schemes, something has gone terribly wrong with your life. It doesn't look like Shadow really thinks it's going to work or is otherwise questioning it. Anyways, I agree that it seems more like Annie is trying to have some fun.

Usually I'm not a big fan of the lighter chapters (my favorite are the dark/creepy ones), but I'm really liking this one for some reason. Maybe after all the drama and craziness in the previous chapter it's nice to have something more fun.

I kinda agree with everything everybody's said. I don't like this sequence, but I like this installment because it's funny. Our not liking what's going on reflects Annie and Kat not liking what's going on. Annie's acting like a fairy. She's playing, not serious. Neither of them are acting themselves. This may mean they're growing apart. Or not. Kat knows, but isn't having any right now. Etc. All at once.
One other thing, though: Annie is, perhaps, beginning to feel something like the abandonment Kat felt.
One other, other thing: I trust Tom to know what he's doing with this.

The fact that Annie's not just breaking down and moping about Kat's rejection is evidence that her forest experience has "straightened her back". I don't see a forest fairy, I see a stronger Annie.

If the chapter started in the early morning (explaining Annies tiredness), then it was somewhat later in the morning, and then this strip is sometime in the afternoon. Just sort of guessing the time frames, heh. Despite the fact that we don't know what direction the sun is and the building in this strip might not be the same one as where she was before. Not to mention the window on that building doesn't look like the ones in the lobby on the last strip. jasmijn: Maybe she is too hyped up to take a nap. Edit: Whether it really was in the pre-dawn hours at the start or if it was just inside is a line of speculation onto itself.
