It's quite nice to see how Tom's improvement reached Tea too, her look is quite refreshing (and little, Tom's in the back).
Also, City Face 2.

Also, the previous break announcement featured images of bomber planes. Now looks like there at a feel where a bomb just landed. Interesting theme, if that's what it is.

Or that will be about how Renard spends summer alone in the court, tricking various people because he is so bored.

It'd be nice to see Renard performing some actual tricks.

I think his retaliation at Annie will be weighing on his mind for a while.

Tea looks a little tired, or maybe that's squinting from the sun's glare.

Ah a two week break. I have to say, this last chapter has been a real fun ride, but now its got me anxious to see the forest. it will be our first good look at the society of the forest; seems almost odd that it took 3 books to get there. The wait for the next chapter will be a long one... oh well time to sit back and enjoy the filler; should be fun ^^

This makes me worried that when it returns it'll skip right ahead to Annie leaving the forest after the vacation... hopefully Tom won't be so cruel.

These things always have the most gorgeous backgrounds. It makes me wish Tom had tome to do solo art pieces aside from the comic.
*Fingers crossed for this year*

This break announcement page and the last one have been vaguely...ominous.

Also I hope that this short stories will be about Rey or Court's(maybe even Surma) past. Also: wonderful page) Or that will be about how Renard spends summer alone in the court, tricking various people because he is so bored. I hope on that very much!

Huh. I remember reading a twitter post from Tom some weeks ago saying he was switching to hand drawn speech bubbles. It looks like he's started.

Oh, now that you mention it, they do look hand drawn now! It looks really nice! Also, I'm hoping this short story is either City Face or the adventures of some random student at the Court.

Hm, Tom and Tea are in the midst of a war of some kind. Tea's face looks distinctly battle-wizened. Ominous indeed, a portent of things to come. This makes me worried that when it returns it'll skip right ahead to Annie leaving the forest after the vacation... hopefully Tom won't be so cruel. In fact we should be expecting this. Tom's never covered summertimes in detail before. The next book will start at the beginning of the school year just like the other two. The events that transpire in the forest will only be revealed though flashback.

I never noticed the previous break announcement (how could I not? I read through all the chapters) and I was just about to ask what Tom was looking at in the distance

This page is absolutely gorgeous. I love the lighting, the colors, and Tea's jacket.
Tom is such an amazing artist. I never really noticed the break announcement pages before, but--wow. He manages to convey a lot of supposed plot in a single page. So beautiful. :'D

I have a feeling Tom may try to avoid main cast entirely for this little break.
Or maybe just have another city face thing where it basically isn't anything to do with main setting but is still in GKC universe.

I'm having a hard time placing the make of those particular bombers; they're twin-engined (which rules out most of the heavy bombers of the WWII era), and they lack a twin-tail design (which rules out many of the remainder). Perhaps they're transport planes? They do vaguely resemble C47s, I think. Also, Tea was sporting a more elegant victorian outfit in the last one, and now she's wearing a rather grimy field jacket. Perhaps the war hasn't been going in their favor?

The background reminds me of England when I visited last summer. I went to Bushy Park, after two or three weeks of drought. All the grass was yellow and dry and the sky was white with thin clouds. It's amazing how beautiful barren places can be.

The events that transpire in the forest will only be revealed though flashback. True. It's a shame if we don't get to see any of her time in the forest, but it wouldn't surprise me if it just cuts to the start of next year, and we see Annie maybe having changed (but that could be remedied with flashbacks, haha).
