Gwaahh! Ye gods, Coyote. You are a creep. Cookies to those who thought it was Coyote! Congrats.
Annie is not going to have a hard time keeping her mouth shut about that. What with losing her right hand being on the line and all..

Uh oh.
What is Coyote up to? Why doesn't he want the forest to know about the tooth?
I feel whatever the reason, the next few pages are not going to be pleasant for Annie.
Edit: And another weekend cliffhanger. How many more have you got Tom? Please stop making me wish my weekend away; I barely have any time off during the week.

I'm guessing it's probably 'cos Annie is like, a huge favourite of Coyote and got all that attention and stuff. ... and the forest creatures probably would not like this blatant favouritism. Especially for someone from the Court.

I don't think she would, but I bet she kinda wishes she hadn't decided to stay in the forest for a moment.
Could this have got something to do with Coyote's big secret?
Edit: Only in the forest?

Welcome to my forest, I hope you enjoy your stay! Just to make things more exciting, here's a bracelet that will slice your hand off if you don't keep your mouth shut. There's some lovely berries over there, a nice patch of grass over there, make yourself at home. Just remember, no talking about my tooth or, well, y'know! Hahahaha, thank you, I'll be here all night. Paranoid much, Coyote? Jeeze.

It was once part of a being of Coyote's power what do you think it can do. I'm sure it can do alot of damage to any creature of the forest including ysengrin

Way to go to remind us that coyote is not actually exactly a nice guy!

Why would Coyote not want the forest to know of the gift?
strange that he doesn't care about the court knowing of the tooth.
how odd. maybe he is worried about the questions the forest might wish to ask Annie.
though some might wish to use the power of the tooth for purposes coyote would not like.
while coyote trusts Annie to use the tooth when she will most need it or when a friend might most need it.
could be useful to Parley when she decides she is ready to battle Jeanne.

I think the only proper reaction to this development is...
OH SNAP! Are we having second thoughts yet about this slumber party in the woods?

Why tell her now? Why not later?
And if anything else, this should make Annie think twice about accepting gifts from Coyote again (like say, an offer to stay in the woods all summer).

Well, we've seen how good Annie is at keeping secrets. This might have been the only way to make sure she wouldn't tell. Still, sheesh. Someone is keen to keep a secret.

Just when she thought the people of the forest would never force anything on her, like everyone else seemed to be doing.
That bind would feel terribly itchy, if I was her.

Well, that's one way to ensure obedience. If he's going to threaten dismemberment, why not go all the way and put the slave collar around her neck? Edit: Also, it seems like delicious irony that she'd run from one side of the conflict only to find that the other side is just as bad. I get the feeling she's gonna have a hard time trusting anybody now.

aaaand welcome to the forest! Nice turn of events, in a single page: - we are reminded Coyote is an alien godly entity not to be trifled with - Annie gets _serious_ punishment for her recklessness - a new mistery appears
aaaand: - cue for Eglamore's beacon return to scene.

Why tell her now? Why not later? Annie and Jones were just going over the list of loose ends to tie up before summer. Coyote probably wanted to make sure Annie didn't say something like "Oh, and if you could bring Coyote's Tooth to me, I'd really appreciate it." Hm. Idea sounded better in my head.

Coyote probably wanted to make sure Annie didn't say something like "Oh, and if you could bring Coyote's Tooth to me, I'd really appreciate it." That makes sense, except that Coyote only forbade Annie from telling anybody in the forest. I don't think he has a problem with the Court knowing about it, else he would have said something when he first gave the tooth away.
